Here We Go Again

The New Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again Trailer Will Fill You With So Much Joy
Donna and the Dynamos are back in a new trailer for Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. We already knew that the sequel to 2008's huge musical hit looks back at how Donna (Meryl Streep) met the three men who could have been her daughter Sophie's father, and the first trailer gave us a look at the young Donna (played by Lily James) and her suitors for the first time. It also revealed an extraspecial cameo from Cher and set our minds whirring as to the fate of Donna. Is Streep's character really dead in the sequel? The signs seem to point that way, and the latest trailers do nothing to dispel our fears.

The new footage, above, only seems to feature Streep in flashbacks (and potentially one dream sequence with the Dynamos), but it has a whole lot of Cher! The icon will be playing the grandmother to Sophie...

The Reason Baby Driver's Lily James Changed Her Last Name Is Painfully Sweet
Kevin Spacey, Jamie Foxx, Jon Hamm, Eiza González, Lily James, and Ansel Elgort in Baby Driver (2017)
With her roles in Baby Driver and the upcoming Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, Lily James is well on her way to becoming a household name - but it's not actually the name she was born with. The English actress's birth name is Lily Chloe Ninette Thomson. So, why the change in surname? The reason might encourage a tear or two.

In 2008, Lily's actor and musician father, James "Jamie" Thomson, passed away from cancer. To honor her beloved father, Lily changed her stage surname to James. After filming father-daughter scenes for Cinderella, Lily opened up to the New York Post, stating "It's weird when you get roles that coincide with your life. Cinderella touches on loss, and there was definitely a strong sense of grief."

No, you're crying.

Andy Garcia
Andy Garcia, Walton Goggins & Molly Parker Join ‘Words on Bathroom Walls’
Andy Garcia
Andy Garcia, Walton Goggins, and Molly Parker are the latest to join Ld Entertainment’s Words On Bathroom Walls, from director Thor Freudenthal. Based on Julia Walton’s debut novel, the story follows the character of Adam (played by Charlie Plummer) as he tries to navigate high school life while living with paranoid schizophrenia and battling wild hallucinations. Luckily, an experimental drug trial promises to help hide his illness from his peers and most importantly from Maya, the girl of his dreams.

Garcia is playing Father Patrick, the kind and unexpectedly witty priest at the private high school Adam attends. Parker will portray Adam’s devoted single mother who persistently studies everything to do with schizophrenia and believes that someday there will be a medication that will help her child. Goggins is playing Beth’s partner Paul, a decent and caring man who wants what is best for his stepson...

Please Watch This Mamma Mia!: Here We Go Again Lyric Video and Descend Into Madness With Me
Already the most-anticipated and best-titled movie of the summer, Mamma Mia!: Here We Go Again, the sequel to the 2008 badsterpiece that is Mamma Mia!, has started to amp up its advertising campaign, and it is glorious. By which I mean nonsense. By which I mean, please watch this newly released “lyric video” for the number “I Kissed the Teacher,” which is sung by Cinderella’s Lily James with drunk-at-karaoke fervor.

For those who aren’t familiar with the labyrinthine, sex-positive mythology of the Mamma Mia! universe, James is playing the younger version of Meryl Streep’s character Donna in this film. Here We Go Again is both a prequel and sequel to the original, which is itself based on the jukebox musical of the same name, which was built around the mostly nonsense lyrics of Abba songs. In that movie, Amanda Seyfried plays Meryl’s daughter, who brings the three.

‘Mamma Mia 2’ Trailer: Watch Cher as Meryl Streep’s Mom (Video)
The final trailer for Universal’s “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” has been released, and in it, we get a bigger glimpse at Cher’s grandmotherly role in the film.

In the trailer, Amanda Seyfried’s character Sophie tells her fathers (played by Colin Firth, Pierce Brosnan, and Stellan Skarsgård) that she is pregnant.

“I never did ask you guys, what happened when you met my mother?” she asks her dads, at which point the trailer pivots to telling the story of a young Donna (Meryl Streep’s role), who is played by Lily James.

Of course, Streep played the family matriarch in the 2008 adaptation of the famous Broadway musical.

Sophie’s grandmother, Cher, shows up to a party that she’s not invited to after she commits “to being a grandmother.”

Characters return to their past while celebrating the promise of the future in the final new trailer for Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. The film hits theaters on July 20th.

In the new clip, lead character Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) is pregnant, which is somewhat of a secret, although her three possible dads (Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgard and Colin Firth) don't seem to have contained the news. Sophie's grandmother (Cher) shows up uninvited once the word is out and a celebration is planned.

"I have decided to commit to being a grandmother,...

Final Mamma Mia 2 Trailer Dances Around the Meryl Streep Question
The final Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again trailer brings back the old gang from the original Mamma Mia!, but avoids addressing Donna’s (Meryl Streep) fate in the film. Streep technically appears in both the final trailer and teaser trailer for the Mamma Mia! sequel, by way of footage recycled from the original movie. When it comes to new footage, however, Streep is nowhere to be found, leading most people to assume that Donna passed away sometime prior to the events of Here We Go Again.

Everybody’s Back in the Mamma Mia 2 Poster
The Mamma Mia! cast reunites in the poster for the sequel, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. A film version of Abba’s hit Broadway stage musical (which launched in 1999), the first Mamma Mia! was a smash success that made nearly twelve times its $52 million budget at the global box office in 2008. There were rumblings of a movie sequel happening for years before the project became official in 2017, when Universal announced the original Mamma Mia cast would be reprising their roles in a followup written and directed by Ol Parker (Imagine Me & You).
