Fast paced Disney short has Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy as "ghost exterminators" who get called to an old house by the prank-playing ghosts themselves. The animation and Technicolor is terrific, as usual, and the storyline allows the trio to get scared in all sorts of creative ways. This was made when the familiar Disney characters' personalities were at their peaks: Mickey is the resourceful group leader (and not the bland goody-goody he would become later on), Donald is the short-tempered one, and Goofy is the well-meaning dunce. Even the ghosts have spunk and verve - a winner!

"The lonesome ghosts" is one of my favourite episodes of Mickey Mouse.Its about four ghosts who get bored and want something exciting to happen so they call ghost busters who are also bored because they get no customers and not making money.When they get a phone call from the ghosts,one ghost has put on a fake accent to make the ghost busters believe their prank. Then Mickey,Donald and Goofy believe their prank and go there immediately with not so good equipment and unaware what surprise is in the house.I find it easy to say that Donald is the coward,Goofy is the goofy one and Mickey is the brave one,always encouraging the other two to do stuff that they are not so sure about but it shows in this that all three are cowards when they say they are professionals and fearless.It is always fun to watch this episode again and again because the humour never stops.

This a very exciting and funny episode that is enjoyable for the whole family and if you want to see it,get a copy of "Everybody loves Mickey" or "Mickey's house of Villains".Is it just me,or does Mickey Mouse never grow old?

Almost 55 years before Bill Murray and Co. cleaned up New York there was a different trio of 'fearless' spook-fighters. They were Mickey, Donald and Goofy. Though none of their equipment is high-tech (they carry nets and, bizarrely, axes) they make up for it with phony bravery.

A quartet of ghosts in a spooky old mansion phone them up and get them over to scare them and play tricks. So, you can pretty much guess that the rest of the cartoon will be made up of related hijinks. Though this time, it's slightly more imaginative than usual. Nice animation and spooky atmosphere too.

Long before Bill Murray and company wiped out all the ghosts in New York City, Mickey, Donald, and Goofy were doing the job (but not in NYC, and without the proton packs and other gadgets, of course). In this classic 1937 short, the trio are ghost hunters who go into a haunted house, where they end up having some wacky adventures (Goofy gets stuck in a dresser, etc.). In my opinion, this is definitely one of the best of all the Disney shorts (and there are many to choose from). And the ending of this one is just PERFECT.

This is a well-known Mickey Mouse/Halloween short, and it was hard to believe that it premiered on Christmas Eve of 1937. I remember clips of this short on the TV special "Disney's Halloween Treat," but I was usually too scared to watch them or the whole cartoon. But as an animation-loving adult, I had watched the whole short on my Mickey Mouse DVD box-set and it was OK; I wasn't scared anymore.

You all probably know what the short's about: four bored green phantoms want to have some fun. So, after seeing their ad in the paper, the ghoulies lured Ghostbusters Mickey, Donald, and Goofy over to their haunted home, the old McShiver Mansion, with a fake phone call. As I've said before, I don't have a favorite scene. I just love the ending quote Donald gives out: "So you can't take it? You big sissies!"

So anyway, it's a wonderful cartoon for Halloween and my favorite Mickey/Donald/Goofy cartoon.

Wonderful Disney short starring Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and Donald Duck as ghost hunters (decades before the idea became so commonplace in popular culture). The trio are hired to rid a haunted house of its spirits. The funny thing is the spirits are the ones doing the hiring, because they're bored and want some people to scare. Terrific voice work from Clarence Nash, Pinto Colvig, Billy Bletcher, and Walt Disney himself. The animation is gorgeous with rich colors and well-drawn characters and backgrounds. The music is whimsical and quirky. It's a really fun cartoon from start to finish. Even if you aren't a big fan of these characters and their usual exploits, this one should please you. One of the all-time great Halloween cartoons. A real classic. Goofy's line "I ain't scared of no ghosts!" predates the famous similar line from Ray Parker's Ghostbusters song by almost half a century.

Decades ahead of "Ghostbusters", this Mickey Mouse cartoon was an extra feature on the ICHABOD AND MR.TOAD feature from Disney, about a quartet of ghosts in a spooky old house bored out of their wits with nobody to scare. A newspaper ad advertising the services of ghostbusters Mickey, Donald and Goofy, catches their attention and lo and behold, they've got the trio arriving at the mansion ready to go to work.

The fun begins as soon as they enter the house and from then on it's strictly a series of sight gags as the ghost hunters are scared out of their wits at the pranks dreamed up by the lively quartet. Funniest segment has Goofy doing a mirror routine with a ghost likeness who follows his every move and gesture. The payoff is the finale where an accidental mishap scares the ghosts away and turns the whole thing into a mission accomplished for the naive ghostbusters.

Nice animation, good background art and some clever plotting make this one a sure fire delight for young and old Disney fans.

Disney's Big Three go Ghostbusters as they endeavour to rid a mansion of four ghosts, with Goofy even declaring that "I ain't scared of no ghosts.' One of the spooks wears a hat and smokes a cigar, which was kind of neat.

This is a visual treat from start to finish, with some great jokes as well! Look quite closely at the "ghost catching" equipment and you may wonder just how it is that they expect to catch ghosts with most of it-create some, perhaps, but catch? Highly unlikely, it seems to me. Mickey, Donald and Goofy are three such radically different characters that it's sometimes amazing that they worked so well together. Not precisely the Three Musketeers, but they work together exceedingly well in any case. Disney at or near the top of its form. Wonderful, if not terribly spooky, with some great sight gags, particularly the ending. Well worth watching-again and again! Most highly recommended.

Now truth be told, I am one of the biggest Disney fans you'll come across, but Lonesome Ghosts is just not one of my favorite cartoons out there. Maybe because I watched this recently on an old tape and the quality was bad, but I just couldn't understand what the ghosts were saying. Plus, the animation just wasn't at its best. Again, this could be my crappy tape. I'll probably have to get the new Mickey Mouse in Color DVD to get a true assessment!

Nevertheless, it's still a good cartoon. I also wondered why Mickey was bringing a gun to hunt down ghosts. Ha, ha, what exactly is that going to accomplish?! So maybe from that you can see that this is just a recent harebrained scheme by the trio without them thinking things through. Once again, Donald is involved in one of the funniest scenes of the cartoon. I love his fighting stance, and it was even better when the ghost imitated him. That's just great comedy!

So overall, Lonesome Ghosts is a good cartoon and it's memorable, but it's not my favorite out there. It's worth a look though if you get the chance.

This is a classic Disney Halloween cartoon. 4 ghosts, who are bored because they have no one to scare, read in the newspaper that Mickey, Donald, and Goofy have a ghost hunting business. So, they call them up, and the results are hysterical. THis cartoon, along with "Trick or Treat" are the definitive Disney halloween cartoons.

This "Disney" short "Lonesome Ghosts" from 1937 is one of the better and more memorable one's as it is a good watch around "Halloween" for it's sentimental scary feel yet it's funny and silly for the most part. Mickey, Donald, and Goofy are part of "Ajax Exterminators" team and one night they get a call from some lonely shadow like blurry ghosts who want some fun. The visit and chase really turns out to be plenty of pranks as the ghosts try to trick the trio, only the haunted house twist in the end as the ghosts are ran out of their own house headquarters. Overall funny and sentimental classic cartoon short from "Disney".

Lonesome Ghosts is a classic cartoon, with great visual gags and a good story this has the whole package. It mayn't be the absolute best of the Disney cartoon canon, but it is like a real pleasure of mine. The animation is very well done, with spooky enough backgrounds and nice dark colours. The music is pleasant also, with some nice macabre motifs and quirky ones for the ghosts and their antics. Mickey, Goofy and Donald are on top form, as are the four lonely ghosts who want some fun(who wouldn't?). Making sure that is possible is the spirited voices of Walt Disney, Pinto Colvig, Clarence Nash and Billy Bletcher(who I know as the original voice of Pete). Also excellent are the quips between the ghosts and the ending.

Overall, a classic of a Halloween cartoon, and if you love Lonesome Ghosts I highly recommend Trick or Treat. 10/10 Bethany Cox

This one features Donald, Mickey and Goofy in one of the more famous and memorable shorts. The trio come to a haunted house, as they are ghost exterminators—but the ghosts have other plans themselves! They plan on scaring the three and putting an end to their business. While this looks very possible, a little mixup at the end involving flour turns the day in favor of our heroes.

This is a gorgeously animated cartoon—with some of the very best color animation you'll find in a Disney short—with vibrant colors and amazingly beautiful backgrounds. It's simply one of the best looking shorts Disney made. As for the story, it's wildly creative, full of nice gags and fun. What's not to like about this film?!

Highly entertaining short from Walt Disney has four ghosts haunting a house when they see a newspaper ad claiming a certain group can catch any ghost. In order to have some fun, the ghosts call the number and pretty soon Mickey, Donald Duck and Goofy show up but get more than what they thought they would. LONESOME GHOSTS is a darn good short from the boys at Disney, which offers up three of their most loved characters as well as the typical wonderful animation that you come to expect from the studio. I thought the animation was certainly the highlight of the film and especially the beautiful detail in every aspect of the picture. The highlight of the film would have be the sequence where Goofy is looking in a mirror and at first doesn't realize he's seeing a ghost.

A Fun cartoon, in which 4 ghosts scare Mickey, Goofy and Donald for fun. They create the best laughs scaring Donald, and the cartoon finishes with a good ending. Fun Walt Disney Cartoon.

This is a silly little cartoon short featuring Mickey, Donald and Goofy as a ghost hunting team, who got called up by four bored ghosts in a haunted house. They have scared everyone away and decide to have some fun freaking out Mickey, Donald and Goofy.

It's a unique short that does not follow the more conventional plot line. You have some frightful fun mixed in with some classic Disney magic - all resulting in a pretty entertaining story. It's fun for adults and kids, and might even scare away some little ones during a fright night. Also, the animation is pretty good in this one and the characters are colorful Great for laughs.

Just like all the short Walt Disney cartoon this one is fun. If you have nothing to do those cartoons are good enough to watch. They will even give you a few laughs. In a way it is all funny, but it is all the same as well. 6/10.

The Ajax Ghost Exterminators - Mickey, Donald & Goofy - arrive at an old haunted mansion to match their wits against a quartet of wily LONESOME GHOSTS.

Here is one of the classic cartoons of its era - excellent animation, hilarious story & full of tremendous, frightful fun. Our trio of heroes work together beautifully as a team, yet each is given ample opportunity to shine solo. It is little films such as this which helped to solidify the Disney Studio's reputation. Walt Disney & Clarence Nash supply the voices for Mickey & Donald respectively.

Walt Disney (1901-1966) was always intrigued by pictures & drawings. As a lad in Marceline, Missouri, he sketched farm animals on scraps of paper; later, as an ambulance driver in France during the First World War, he drew comic figures on the sides of his vehicle. Back in Kansas City, along with artist Ub Iwerks, Walt developed a primitive animation studio that provided animated commercials and tiny cartoons for the local movie theaters. Always the innovator, his ALICE IN CARTOONLAND series broke ground in placing a live figure in a cartoon universe. Business reversals sent Disney & Iwerks to Hollywood in 1923, where Walt's older brother Roy became his lifelong business manager & counselor. When a mildly successful series with Oswald The Lucky Rabbit was snatched away by the distributor, the character of Mickey Mouse sprung into Walt's imagination, ensuring Disney's immortality. The happy arrival of sound technology made Mickey's screen debut, STEAMBOAT WILLIE (1928), a tremendous audience success with its use of synchronized music. The SILLY SYMPHONIES soon appeared, and Walt's growing crew of marvelously talented animators were quickly conquering new territory with full color, illusions of depth and radical advancements in personality development, an arena in which Walt's genius was unbeatable. Mickey's feisty, naughty behavior had captured millions of fans, but he was soon to be joined by other animated companions: temperamental Donald Duck, intellectually-challenged Goofy and energetic Pluto. All this was in preparation for Walt's grandest dream - feature length animated films. Against a blizzard of doomsayers, Walt persevered and over the next decades delighted children of all ages with the adventures of Snow White, Pinocchio, Dumbo, Bambi & Peter Pan. 'Lonesome Ghosts (1937)' swaps Ray, Egon and Peter for Mickey, Donald and Goofy as a few bored spectres enlist the trio's ghost hunting services so they can have someone to scare again. The short is charming and chuckle-worthy, with several great set-pieces and even more sight-gags, to boot. Its highlight has to be its ultimate punchline, though; it provides the piece with its biggest laugh. The sound quality is surprisingly low, even for shorts from this era. Still, this is an enjoyable little tale. 7/10

Four very bored ghosts decide to call the Ajax Ghost Exterminators agency to scare up some fun. The Ajax Ghost Exterminators are Mickey, Goofy and Donald who answer the call, go to the house and try to rid the place of the ghosts.

Cute Halloween short - worth the 9 minute watch.
