Final film of Grit Haid.
Despite the movie being clearly against authority and against fascism the movie passed the censorship of Austria and Nazi Germany. It is assumed that it was because the movie is set in the time of the Rococo (1730-1780). One such example was in a Scene in which the Minister commanded the captain to kill 70 rebellions, to which the captain said "I am not a murderer, I am an officer", only to be replied as "You were an officer."
The actors in the movie perform and quote various plays by William Shakespeare, including "Hamlet", "Romeo and Juliet" and "Taming of the Screw". The movie was released during the Hitler regime and Shakespeare is considered one of Adolf Hitler's favorite poets.
