Ollie gets the last laugh.

Oliver Hardy plays an artist who has fallen in love with his model...and she's a pretty young thing. But a rich widow has fallen for Ollie and he doesn't know who to chose to be his wife. His 'friend' offers to check out the widow...and soon marries her since she apparently is wealthy. Well, appearances aren't everything.

This is a pretty simple story and told reasonably well for 1916. My only complaint is that Hardy overacts a bit at one point...not unusual for 1916 but it doesn't age well because of this. Otherwise, it's enjoyable.

Once upon a time before Ollie's famous career

The name Oliver Hardy conjures up images of Stan Laurel's overweight comedy partner, repeatedly humiliated by the fine messes that they get themselves into. What you might not have known is that Ollie had a prominent career before joining up with Stan. Will Louis's silent "Hungry Hearts" casts Ollie as an artist who hopes to marry a woman, but everything goes awry.

Like most comedies from cinema's infancy, this short has a simple plot and relies significantly on physical comedy. It would still take a few years before movies started getting profound. Nonetheless, it's an enjoyable ten minutes. Available on Wikipedia.
