Opened this drama with a scene that happened in 2019 we are Introduced with an extra-ordinary genius doctor who helped a rich female convict to get out of jail with creating irregular disease to avoid her jail time while she could stay in the hospital instead to get treatment, while the story goes on the pasts were uncovered in each episode. Reviewing the story it is not a typical doctor-conflict regarding power struggle in the hospital but it tells stories about internal rich-family struggle, rich-people playing on people's live, insurance scheme, hospital-jail scheme and more intrigues. However I cannot say that the script-writer already did his best since even though I can comprehend the back-stabbing scenes that occurred many time the conflicts are not fully resolved while the crimes not fully punished until the end which is quite a disappointment. The plot tend to become too dragging over a character, like when the hero took down his enemy turns out his enemy prepared another way out and so on since this case happened not twice making it somehow the characters forced being ended-up together. The good things are no annoying love-story and the main character true to his character since the hero never lose.

The acting of the actors are good especially Nam Gong Min and the villains which I unfortunately forget their names. Nam Gong Min is not an ordinary actor, despite his slow-talk and calm-lazy appearance his acting is what giving life to this drama. I am not really a fan of him but he is good on this drama. While without the supporting actors and the villains' good acting this drama won't be good either. Watch this drama but gotta warn you this drama comes with heavy conflicts.

Very satisfying ending and love the back and forth show off of the intellectual wit among players. Both the hero and the villain's characters are interesting, and so do a lot of the supporting characters. They all have a story and the plot somehow can seamlessly insert these characters into the bigger scheme (the whole plot).

This is the second time I watched Nam Kung Min, the first one was a romantic drama and was a total disappointment. After watching Doctor Prisoner, I can conclude that Mr. Nam is best suited for more complex role rather than some simple cheesy romance lead. This guy seriously has a strong presence, good acting and poise as a doctor or any other strong roles. Compare to him, the female lead, Kwon Nara (of Itaewon Class) seriously need to polish her acting skills, she hasn't improved a bit since Itaewon, the same no emotion expression and stony face.

Actually the story is simple but they managed to make this series interesting and have audience looking forward to the next episode. I totally enjoy this series and hope can see more of this kind of clever plot TV show.

It kept me intrigued all the time while watching it.

The plot is beyond expectations.

It is very intense and alluring at the same time.

The characters fit the given role perfectly.

You can't stop watching it once you start this.

Totally worth watching all of the episodes.

An actually underrated show which should receive a lot of attention.

Everyone including the directors and the staff have done an awesome job.

This drama did not make me skip even one second of it. I felt like I would lose something if I skipped even a few seconds ahead.

Best kdrama I've ever seen ( to be brutally honest)

This is another great performance by Namkoong Min after his villain role on The Girl Who Can See Smell. Except he is no villain in this show, but a kind doctor who fights for the poor and the helpless. I love how fearless and witty he is towards all the bad guys. This show is truly a must watch!!!

Innovative plot. The ex lady president is applying to move from jail to hospital now. But as the story develop it become too complicated to understand.

Male lead gives excellent performance, both as a new and subsequent cool doctor. Hope the ending is more viewer friendly.

PS I would like to write a fuller review after viewing the whole drama dubbed in my language. To understand the plot fully makes me raise the score to ten.

An atypical plot on our hero, a doctor in charge of the jail. The story reveals Korea's corrupted jail system while rich prisoners could be free from imprisonment if they are found contracting serious illness.

The acting of all the male lead are amazing. The male lead, Dr Sun and our villian Lee all have impressive performance in the drama. Dr Sun and villian Lee are not new to me. I watch their acting in many drama, KMHM, Mr Sunshine.... They simply create great chemistry with our male lead who also has super acting skills. In comparison, the acting of female lead is not in par with the male leads.

It is still my opinion that it is difficult for non-Korean to grasp the complicated story line. Thanks to the dubbing I can fully appreciate the intricate storyline.

The story is sometimes not very logical. It is not necessary for villian Lee to kill his brother by him in person. But the story goes too quick for me to dig out its imperfection.

Just finishing the drama I can hardly breathe because the ending is too amazing. I must thank all the actors and production crew for creating such a brilliant drama which I enjoy so much.

Superb cast who carry the series. Some scenes are brilliant because of their jaw-dropping skills, but others are repetitive or bogged down. What could have been a great series is held back by uneven writing.

Whilst the premise of the show is somewhat interesting, almost everyone in the show is either highly incompetent (from prison guards, hospital medical staff...) or corrupt, some downright stupid. The only redeeming character is the protagonist.
