Ah, the pleasures of the time loop comedy! This wacky sub-genre could easily have been a novelty deployed once or twice then heard of no more, but the genius of Groundhog Day almost single-handedly entrenched it in the zeitgeist. Wa-shot films 'We Bury The Dead' and 'Birthright' will go up against South Australian documentary 'Songs Inside' and Victorian time travel comedy 'One More Shot' for this year's $100,000 CinefestOZ Film Prize.

Australian filmmaker Jonathan Teplitzky is working on a sequel to his 2003 crime comedy Gettin’ Square – one of five features to receive a share of $4.6m (A$6.9m) in production funding from national body Screen Australia.

The latest round of funding will also support Kriv Stenders’ The Correspondent; Cathy Randall’s Red Rock Run; Kate Woods’ Kangaroo; and Nicholas Clifford’s One More Shot.
