'The Car: Road to Revenge' is a very different kind of revenge movie, as well as a ghost story. Some might compare it to 'Christine', but it is indeed very different. It is, in fact, a spinoff sequel to 1977's 'The Car'.
The film is set in the not too distant future. James is a wealthy, egotistical District Attorney who reinstated the death penalty. While the police methods might seem unorthodox, one has to keep in mind this is set in the future, and who is to know what laws may be implemented in the future to combat crime? Just keep an open mind and it might be acceptable.
I found Grant Bowler likable as the film's hero, detective Rainer. Kathleen Munroe starred as Daria - a very strong character, but I would have liked to know a bit more about her and her background. The love interest between them was cliched, but I somehow wanted - and expected - it from the characters. Unfortunately there is no real payoff apart from being just another cliche.
There are some interesting characters here - from a guy dressed like a character from centuries past, to cyborgs, and futuristic looking characters, to ordinary characters. The gang of bad guys are supposedly aliens, but they are underdeveloped characters and their intentions are not very clear. Were they mortals, it would have made no difference whatsoever. Speaking of intentions, I also didn't really understand James' intentions. He clearly wanted to take revenge on the gang, but he also killed some innocent bystanders in the process, and was obviously insanely jealous of Daria. Was it all about revenge of just a killing spree?
The film features some good visuals, and surprised me with excellent photography, and good action sequences. It got better and better as the film progressed. (This would have been awesome with a big budget.) Be warned, some scenes are brutal and gory. A lot of scenes would have benefited significantly had they been slightly longer. A number of scenes felt like they ended too abruptly.
In general, I was pleasantly surprised by 'The Car: Road to Revenge'. The sound was good, the score was good, the photography was good, and there were lots of action. Don't take it too seriously, don't over-analyze it, and you will have a good time with it. I did.
Would I watch it again? Yes.

First off this is not in anyway a sequel or remake to Stephen King's/ John Carpenter's Christine (1983). Evidently you that have said so did not see or year of the much superior The Car (1977). Get your facts straight.
The original The Car had style, atmosphere, and good action. This wanna be sequel sacrificed much of that for poor CGI graphics and weak story line. It amps up the gore but it is so fake looking with tge overuse of CGI. I gave this a few extra stars for some decent action scenes and the Car itself. It adds nothing to the original.

I imagine anyways, someone did wayyyy too much blow and then wrote this screenplay...and then maybe blackmailed someone in order to actually get it made. I dunno, something along those lines CAUSE IT SURE AS HELL HAS NOTHING TO SO WITH IT BEING A GOOD MOVIE.

From a filmmakers stand point it was a complete film but to call this a sequel to the original was a travesty!
I'm sick and I despise what was created!
They should have called this something totally different and never associated it with the original!
I'm sick!
Why did Ronnie sign on to this debacle! It had no heart .. especially no heart in the essence of THE CAR!

Why would you make a sequel to the car and greenlight this garbage?! why why why?? The car is one of my favorite 70s horror flicks ans you created something so stupid and worthless...
Took a great concept of a mysterious car terrifying a small desert town...weeding out its sins...and turns into something stupid.
In the process, it rips off concepts and elements from; The Dark Knight Johnny Mnemonic Robocop Lethal Weapon 2 Christine Nemesis Ooh...tried to kill somebody with a pencil ala John Wick. And rehashes cool scenes from the original The Car.
The Car in this movie is far from ominous and intimidating. Poor engine sound effects and it sounds like it has a bad rocker tick.
Pretty low mileage movie that could use a huge bottle of octane boost. By the end, it rips off Austin Powers by making a Mini Me.

I created this account just to leave this review. THAT'S how awful I believe this movie to be.
I found this movie while browsing for something to watch one day and was so excited to watch it. I couldn't believe they made a sequel to one of my favorite movies of all time and I hadn't heard about it! Within 5 minutes I was almost in tears with disappointment and I sat thru the entire thing hoping... praying it would redeem itself. It never happened. This is the first time I've had a top 5 favorite movie of mine spawn a sequel that became one of the top 5 WORST movies I have ever seen. The story sucks, it's hard to follow, it jumps all over the place, and "The Car" is just a casting extra in the movie. The worst part was where I could see the cameraman in one scene (when the girl gets off the elevator in the office building and walks by the desk, look at its reflection). Total garbage. 2 Girls 1 Cup was a better example of filmmaking than this.

This isn't a very good movie, but it's not unwatchable. Almost completely unrelated to the original 1977 film (which I am a huge fan of), but the car does resemble the original car by the end. This movie takes the similar approach of what if, but different? The original film was "What if Jaws, but it was a car", this is "What if The Crow, but he's a car". The cyberpunk sci-fi future is a weird touch, and I must ask, why do so many bad sequels go sci fi with non sci fi source material? Seriously, Highlander 2, Jason X, Leprechaun 4, Hellraiser 4, it's a very strange trend. Anyway, I enjoyed this enough. For what it is, it's a decent time waster and has some nice gore effects. Recommended for lazy Sunday afternoons when nothing is on TV. Incidentally does anyone know what make and model the car used in this movie is? I swear it looks like a modified Chrysler 300, but I'm not sure.

I've seen the original several times because it had decent actors and a really cool Barris custom car. This movie is full of nobodies that can't act. I didn't finish it.
After reading some negative reviews I had to write this. What I expected is what I got. Enjoyable squishy kill scenes, bad guys that were hateable. Reminded me of A Clockwork Orange in some areas, yes Mad Max and Christine Maybe some Deathrace without the tally. I dont know what you expected but maybe if you step back and take a look, it isnt Its a Wonderful Life...
Medium Story line, but Good shock scenes. Would have been nicer if iT had more twists And better special effects.
Overall...not a waste

It is simply unwatchable with grade Z-rated acting and a flat dialogue. Don't waste your time watching this show unless you like a dull movie that offer no entertainment value.
From the tittle and lovely made poster, I thought (or they wanted to make us think it was) that was a sequel of the awesome original The Car movie from 1977.
This was not at all a sequel, nor even a well done horror movie using a car. For me, this movie just look like they were hoping to "click & bait" people who watched and loved the original movie.
I figured that right after like the first 30mn, and stopped watching by then. But hey, if you like the genre, go and watch it, and I will let you be your own judge.

I am giving it a 4 rating for effort, it was not that bad, the post apocalyptic setting could have been better but i do understand the low budget.
I always have an issue with people walking down pretty street when all is suppose to be squashed.
I guess they say its a sequel to the 1977 movie The car, but a part from the car driving itself, there is more in common with John Carpenter Christine then that car.
There is some good gore, death scenes and more.
Its an ok way to pass an hour and a half if you have nothing to do.

I would say about 5-10minutes in I figured what the movie was doing.
It doesn't bother me the approach it took. It's just it was so bad about everything that it did with that approach.
First of all the only thing it has in common is a killer possessed car, not even the possession itself is the same.
They had edgy bad guys who were bad guys for the sake of being bad guys. Again doesn't bother me, but went way overboard.
The Dialog seems like it was "We need dialog here".
One of the Scenes a cop was like "Another Suicide?" While the entire time there is a storefront window smashed in, and a guy with his skull crushed in. Where I am now getting angry cause the scene could be good, but they screwed it up with some of the worst dialog.
Take "The Car" out of the title. I feel they used it to purely ride off of the original to bring in people.
I am a person that has guilty pleasure in watching Zoombies, and other low budget Horror films, and I couldn't do this one. I couldn't even laugh at this one.

This near-future cyberpunk mess has NOTHING to do with the quirky cult-classic film from 1977. A third-act attempt at changing the appearance of this newer, more lackluster cybernetic "car" to somewhat resemble the great '77 design by legendary Hollywood car customizer George Barris falls totally flat. A quick cameo by actor Ronny Cox, playing a different character from that of Deputy Luke that he played in the 1977 film, also fails to impress. ROAD TO REVENGE has the feel of a late-1990s direct-to-video cheapie, so if you're into that kind of thing you may enjoy it in parts, but if you have any fond memories of the much-superior film from 1977, avoid this at all costs!

I was a fan of the original, I am not a fan of this.
How could a production company even think this was worth the money to make it? Horrible story line, horrible acting, horrible everything. Was this was made on a dare. Watch only if you feel like having a "what the hell was I thinking" moment.

'this is a true reprise of a good old car movie from the early 80's,that are still the best anyhow. also with inspiration from the first 3 madmax movies, and a few moreof the kind, then you have the car on the road to revenge.
its all about a sinister car spirit that takes revenge on everyone that has been cruel somehow to the car or its owner or close friends of the carowner. its not a good film, but its not bad either. the storyline are lousy and simple, much of the acting are on c-level, but the slashing and cruelty made on man and machine are topnotch if it is what youre looking for....a bit much dressing on the salad if you ask me, but i guess this is the salesargument behind making films like this. the special effects are good at times.
its worth a look if you can outstand extreme car violence because its some of the most graphical images and effects i have seen in a feature movie.
so take a chance on me,its recommended

If you are a fan of the original OR Christine do yourself a favor and DO NOT watch this movie. Only got 15 minutes into this movie myself....maybe... or maybe it was more like 10

It is a silly premis and spiritual sequel kind of. But its a killer car movie. Theres not a whole lot of those these days
This is a B-movie, period. It probably would have worked better as a comedy, but for some reason the director/writer actually tried to do action/adventure/horror....and none of them well.
Just skip it.
