This film is a sequel to The Gymnast from 2006. Dreyer Weber is back in the role of Jane who now, 14 years later, travels around and directs aerial acrobatics. She's coming back to her hometown to put on a new show.
Her ex-husband has just died and she gets her friend, Serena, to drive her to the house. It was Serena she left her husband in favor of in the Gymnast.
And so there are many things that show back in the past, but there are also new girlfriends and friends.
For me, it was wonderful to see these characters again.
It is not comparable to The Gymnast. Acting is terrible, overdramatized, and forced. Trying way to hard to be serious, sensual, and important.
Instead It is more concerned about creating some deep movie.
Turned it off. Snooze fest.

To start with, I don't quite understand why this movie has such a low rating. I started watching it mainly in the background because I'm an aerialist myself and was curious about the movie, but the low rating put me kinda off. But I ended it up being glued to the screen. It's a good movie, with nice choreos, enough drama and a very sweet end.
If you're into action stuff, it's not for you. But if you're in the arts industry (and of an age 30+), I think it's certainly something you could relate to. Maybe, giving it all 10 stars is a bit of an overreaction from my side, but imho it definitely deserves more than some 5.1 stars, hence my choice.

Okay, so as usual we all know where the 9 & 10 ratings are coming from! This movie was beyond boring. I paused it at 54:46 just to write this review and I don't think I want to watch the rest of it!
I loved this movie. The true artistry in the story telling, acting, and physicality is apparent throughout the film. The lives of the characters were so complex and interesting and absolutely glued me to the film. It touches on so many topics in the field of aerial performance, the business of the industry, aging, injury, and what it means to be family, written and performed by people with extensive experience in these areas. The ending is so touching and surprising, it will leave you feeling warm and appreciative of those around you. There is something in this movie for everyone. Watch it!
