Cute and sweet drama

Love the unusual theme, really refreshing. Love the main actress and actor, great acting and chemistry. Cute and sweet love story. I can't stop watching. No wonder it was a hit.

a captivating and irresistible surprise

Delicately heartwarming romance with a slice of life feel to it that easily lures us with its simplicity and freshness. A good understanding of characters, beautiful cinematography and smooth narration. However, certain aspects of the story were left gaping open, instead of neatly closed. Overall I enjoyed the drama, the love for Korean dramas never decreases, they only keep increasing.

Eyes with dark intention

An airline company heir with face blindness has a tangled relationship with an actress who once a month turns into a different person for a week. Now I know the plot sounds ridiculous but the superb acting and great supporting cast makes this a very enjoyable series. Their relationship has many ups and downs and comes under real pressure when an event from the past is unearthed. Some very nice whimsical moments and some very sad moments especially when the actress becomes another person.

Beauty Inside - binge watched *blush*

Great romantic comedy series which was very funny, quirky with interesting and unexpected plot twists which kept you on your toes.

Whilst getting caught up with the Main romance - I absolutely loved the Secondary romance the same way. All four leads were #dropdeath gorgeous and hilarious and played their parts seamlessly.

I would recommend anyone looking for many laughs, romance, angst, and to be uttered entertained, then this series is for you to escape for a few hours.

More and more I am becoming addicted to Korean dramas - their beautiful culture is surrounded by family, friends, quirky traditions and so much food - they are absolutely #foodies.

Wonderful Story and Lovely Message

Ah I really loved so much about this show! The story was really interesting and original; I loved the premise and ideas at the start of the show, and the whole plot was really well written. There are lots of really lovely cinematography shots that give this show a beautiful look. It also had a fun and interesting soundtrack. The chemistry between the main couple was really great, and I liked that there was no love triangle in this - just a few, separate couples, each on their own journey's. The acting was well done as well: Hyeon-Jin was the main star of this show for sure, pulling out a really well done performance. Min-Ki played another somewhat emotionless character in this, but unlike in "Because This Is My First Life," he comes off as stoic and reserved rather than robotic, and his character is much better developed in this, showing a range of emotions by the end.

That being said this show wasn't perfect - it was littered with some tropes/cliches that didn't always work that well, and although I enjoyed the soundtrack, some repeated songs felt tired and overused by the end.

However the overall message of love, kindness, selflessness, and acceptance was absolutely worth the watch!

The best supporting actor ever!

It gets a 10.... because of the dog. The casting of that character is completely spot-on!

Seriously though, this is another one of those dramas where the leading guy is completely deadpan and does it so well, where his situations and lines are so absurd so suddenly you can't help spit out your coffee laughing. The crazy leading lady complements him perfectly, and the supporting cast are all very well cast (and rather handsome), including the fish!

Give it a go, especially if you have a dry sense of humour!

Unique concept but not good enough

The male lead acting is horrible; flat whatsoever. I can't stand to watch him . The movie version is way better than this. They have the same concept but it's just doesn't work well with the plot. It could be better.

Worth seeing, mostly for Hyeon-jin Seo's acting and for the main idea

Personally, I really liked this show, mostly because of how "Hyeon-jin Seo" acted. The main idea is also interesting and I haven't seen it before. In fact, it's for these two reasons that I've decided to give it 10 stars.

The only serious downside is the male lead, who's really dull. Someone pointed out that he is expressionless. He/she was right. The male lead really is expressionless. I mean, I understand in K-dramas male characters are usually very serious, often inert and "hard to touch". But in this case things are taken way too far. Luckily, "Hyeon-jin Seo" saved the day and expressed sufficient emotions for the both of them. But it's just my opinion as others have liked his acting.

All-in-all, it's a show worth-watching. It really is. :)

A great start with a slow end

It's a really good show. It starts off well but gradually starts to slow down with lots of cliches and cheesy romance towards the end, like most of the K-dramas. The characters are nice, and the actors who played them are perfect. Even with the male lead's character, I think the actor nailed it perfectly because of his condition(Prosopagnosia).

I rated it 7/10 because they could have cut down the episodes to 12 episodes. There were so many unnecessary scenes in the end. The breakup in the 14th episode was totally unnecessary. I think they just needed a random reason for them to separate so that when they got back together, they could make it look good, but it didn't work, and it actually annoyed me.

Quick view on The Beauty Inside drama

This drama is pretty cheering for anyone who is feeling down and not being able to express himself. It is full of suprises and the plot also adds this flavour to the events which makes things unpredictable. You will not be bored not even a bit ; the chemistry between the two protagonists is quite uplifting. It surely would make your day.

Good Enough

Beauty inside borrows only the protagonist's condition from the movie. It also uses the 2018 favourite theme of inability to recognize faces theme. And therefor we get a mash up to produce a love story that was cute and funny at first, intense in the middle, boring in the end. Actually, the last episodes were unnecessary, as nothingh really happened. The performances were all good, and the couple had chemistry, which helped with the love story to develop. Again, however, the script didn't help. So, six out of ten.

Like a car crash I couldn't look away from...

The contradictions in the fantasies being sold to young girls have never been as in-your-face as they are in this K-drama. But the mesmerizing acting of Seo Hyun-jin somehow holds this hot mess together.

Her love interest is a robotic, poker-faced, rich dude who suffers from the "disease" of face blindness or prosopagnosia. Not to worry. He's found his perfect mate in the FL, who suffers from a condition that changes her into some random-looking specimen of humanity every so often-be it a child of 10 or a sore-encrusted old bald guy.

Whatever the case, folks, True Love conquers all. The most ludicrous scene in this series is the pledge of eternal love between the ML and the aforementioned bald guy. Not that bald guys aren't lovable! But even Lee Min-ki, the ML, who has serious acting chops (see his performance in BECAUSE THIS IS MY FIRST LIFE), can't bring himself to gaze enthusiastically at his newly transformed sweetheart. There's a Japanese proverb that says: "If there is love smallpox scars are as pretty as dimples." Ah! If only it were true.

The other over-the-top romance--like an impending car crash you can't look away from--is between an actor who could pass for an sweet-faced 14-year-old boy and a troubled, but fabulously rich older woman. To be fair, it's not clear how old these two are supposed to be. (In real life, they're almost the same age.)

The dialog between these two is beyond idiotic. "I'm bad, but you're good." "I love you because you're so pretty." Not since Scrooge McDuck have the rich been such an easy target. As in most K-dramas, they're all greedy and offensive. But there's hope for those who recognize True Beauty.

More than once, my suspension of disbelief was hanging by a strand over the Grand Canyon. When the FL transforms from one body to another, do her clothes change with her? The 10-year-old's duds conveniently enlarged when s/he changed back into adulthood. Not so with some of the other transformations.

The last two episodes are 90% filler. Don't waste your time.

The schmaltzy song that played over and over and OVER in the background getting louder and louder and LOUDER was enough to drive me screaming into the night.

Should Have Been Better

All in all, there are worse ways to spend your time. You could, for example, be unclogging a toilet, or watching reruns of Three's Company, which are on a par with each other. But, if you're running out of things to watch, on Netflix, like Hotel Del Luna, Mystic Pop Up Bar, Vincenzo, or Crash Landing on You, then give it a whirl. As with too many K-Dramas, this one packs 12 episodes worth of plot into only 16 episodes, resulting in too much cheesy romantic dialog, filler plot and that music I am growing to dread. The basic concept is a good one, but I think the 2 leads' weaknesses should have been linked to each other, where the plot seemed to have headed. As with most of these shows, the acting was good-yes, even the first male lead whose personality was supposed to be that of well-meaning cardboard. Grandpa was a pistol who usually stole his scenes, as was first male lead's sis, very well played, too. I didn't feel any chemistry between her and second male lead, but curiously, the only two compatriots who don't hook up, the female lead's manager and the first male lead's assistant, generated more romantic sparks then the others, all buried in their K-drama sweet roles. So, give it a shot. But, if you're growing tired after about 10 episodes or so, you can skip the rest, knowing with confidence where the plot is headed and avoiding too much fluff.

A must watch

One of the best dramas!!! A badass female character, a charming and caring male lead, endearing secondary roles. I love dramas about mental or health issues, both have a handicap somehow. I'm just a bit sad we don't know some answers, but the end is satisfying. Funny, deep, sometimes tragic, a complete drama!

Shows true love and friendship

I am not really a fan of fantasy genre but I watched this drama because of Lee Min ki. And he did not disappoint me. He acted really well. All those expressions, reactions, smile - everything was perfect.

The heroine also did a decent job. Still i kind of felt like the couple lacked chemistry.

What I really loved about this drama is the true love between mother and daughter, and all the other couples, as well as the real meaning of friendship; how they should always support each other. The editing and cinematography of the drama were also nice.

To conclude even though the story was quite predictable from the beginning, but the overall performance and the settings and all made it a good drama.

Love is the Key to Happiness #BeautyInside

Love is the key to happiness right? Well, this K-dram Title kept coming up on my list and I kept passing it by. After watching too many shows with evil in it, was looking for something that looked like it would have romance comedy and be happy. After I clicked on the trailer and heard the song I had a good feeling and so glad I watched it.

At first the theme reminiscent of shape shifting or as the characters called it "change" was a strange concept but the more you watched it the more interesting it got. It was the romance and love story between Lee Min-ki who played Seo Do-jae and. Seo Hyun-jin who played an Se-gye. They had a good chemistry and Lee Min-ki was casted perfectly to play the part of someone who was lonely and emotionless and also somewhat naive due to a car accident that he had which caused him serious health issues.

There was a second romance and love story featuring Lee Tae-ri as Jung Joo-hwan a very handsome, smart, popular, nice guy who is making the decision to become a priest who happens to meet the bad-girl sister of Seo Do-Jae. Jung Joo-hwan was cast perfect to play this part as well.

You can be sure to find much romance in this k-drama as well as many hysterical comical scenes, learn many lessons regarding inner beauty, love, relationships with lovers, friends and family.

There is a twist near the ending that is unexpected so make sure to watch the whole series. I appreciate that the actual ending took more than one episode. I agree with some of the other reviews that maybe the ending could have been just a little bit different but still liked it enough to give it a 10 rating since 9 1/2 is not avail. #KDrama.

Male lead is monotone and emotionless with only ONE facial expression

You just cant can't over this drama for one specific reason, the male lead's acting.

The guys has literally just ONE facial expression, he is monotone, emotionless too! It's like watching a tree acting, a dead tree.... I have watched him also on Because this is my first life and it was exactly the same thing, one facial expression, awful acting, but im not sure its his fault, maybe that's what the director wants for these type of dramas? I am sure he is a great actor because he was awesome in Our Blues, what a shame.

The female lead is the opposite, i have watched her many times and she is great! Can be goofy and comic or dramatic and cold, it was just a shame she had no chemistry with the boring male character.

The theme and story are interesting enough although there's already a movie with the same plot ( which I enjoyed)

Overall, not gripping enough and quite predictable so I am not rating this high unfortunately.

Beauty inside review

The show was good for the most part. I like the start of the story more then how it wrapped up. It wasn't boring at all. But it still a great show. I felt happy, mad, sad. I was also a little disappointed on how the story ended. The romance was good. I liked how the girl in the story would transform into another gender, age, look and so on once a month that was cool. I liked seeing who she would become next becuse I never knew who it would be. This was cool that she was famous. The actor that played her love had great chemistry with the actress. There outfits, hair and makeup of all the actor and actress was good. The drama that was in the story was good for the most part. I think that the second couple was less believable that they were really in love with each other to be honest. They could have done better on the second couple. But over all the character were well developed and good. The script was well written and the acting was mostly good. The translation was good. It a fun watch for sure.

I know my reviews are long but I'm thoughtful!

First, the movie and the series are completely different. I suggest watching the series first and then later on watch the movie. The only thing they have in common is that a main character changes into someone else and even THAT is handled differently.

So about the series. Having watched the movie first, my expectations were completely different going in and admittedly I was put off by the changes simply because of that. I love love Seo Hyun Jin's acting so that was enough to keep me going. I'm so glad I did!

This show hit all the emotions. Even the uncomfortable ones. There were choices I didn't agree with but they were realistic, believable scenarios, albeit in a somewhat fantasy world. And no one made a bad choice without a consequence or an explanation, which K dramas are notorious for leaving out.

They even executed one of my least favorite tropes pretty well also. I usually hate the "we just happened to know /bump into each when we were little / in a past life" trope but it was nicely done here. (WWWSK is another show that I thought did this well)

The secondary couple really annoyed me by episode 10. The slow burn was too much... Errr not enough. And idk if it was the translation but I really didn't know what the boy was feeling until way too late in the show. I was happy in the end but the build up was Un. Com. For. Table.

TW to all my ladies who have lost their mothers :(

ML was dry and stiff as a board but for some reason I still liked him. I think it was the FLs attraction to him.

My favorite part of the entire series though aside from the romance was the friendships. The ML and his assistant friend. The FL and her 2 friends. They all had great chemistry and really looked out for each other.

Also. I was glad not to be weighed down by too much unnecessary corporate drama in the plot.

Entertaining! Acting is top notch! 9/10

I think the main merit of this show is the acting - the whole cast does its best.

Seo Hyeon-jin - she gets all the praise, of course, hats off to her.

Lee Min-ki - as the male main lead, he has to play a reserved, very observant and somewhat suffering character, which he does perfectly well.

Lee Da-hee - as the second female lead, her performance is flawless!

Ahn Jae-Hyun - he is the second male lead, very lovable!

All the other characters (e.g. Parents) are great, but I would like to highlight Moon Ji-In, who should be mentioned in all the reviews of this show because her fiery kindness is heartwarming!
