Excellent first episode, all the rest bellow average

It's not the first time this happens with series, the first episode looks amazing, and right from the second one, the whole thing changes, the production is cheaper, the whole product is different.. With this show in particular, I didn't mind so much because the episodes are unitary (actually, two stories by episode) I could enjoy the first one as a little movie and ignore the rest, as there's no story ark between them.

Still, after seeing how good the first episode was, excellent production, cool actors, lots of Easter eggs, simple but interesting stories, beautiful cinematography and great (surprisingly good!!) CGI, watching the rest was an absolute disappointment, in every aspect I named before.

It's a watchable show, I did watch the whole season, but some were quite bad and boring.

I can only recommend the first episode, and just imagine the series was all like this but just dream about it, skip the rest to avoid disappointment.

Very Enjoyable

I wasn't expecting much, but these first two episodes were actually quite fun; some cool practical effects, good casting, and some great little call backs and homages to the original 2 movies (Chief Woodenhead, Yellow mack of the hitchhiker...and more!). These episodes show that you can still entertain and dish out some creeps without having to chuck $$$$$ and endless jump scares (IT 2 I'm looking at you).

So far so good

First episode reeled me in. Nostalgia is one thing that comes to mind. Easter eggs yes. Its definitely a throwback feature of the original first two. First half is meh. But the second half bravo. A perfect combo of childhood fear and Indian in the cupboard. No pun intended. With the brash overload of b movie horror movies. We now have a home on shudder with episodes to pop some pop corn and crack open some sodas and peel open the candy. If you don't like the original movies from way back dont write a review this is fanfare and hardcore horror film fanatics

This is definitely worth a watch for fans of the short story horror format as there's enough content and budget to make aspects of this series worthwhile

A Very Creepy Start!

The original Creepshow is one of my all-time favourite horror flicks, but after the disappointment of the Twilight Zone reboot, I was a little nervous about this one. Thankfully this one gets the anthology format right. For starters, the episodes are short and sweet. They're well-written/acted/directed, with plenty of atmosphere and a terrific sense of fun and the macabre. For fans of the first two Creepshow films, and Stephen King in general, there are easter eggs galore! I enjoyed the hell out of the first two stories (especially the doll house ep) and can't wait to see what the rest of the season has in store.

Subscribed to Shudder after season 1, cancelled in Season 3

Saw an episode of season 1 and liked it so I subscribed to Shudder, then season 2 wasn't nearly as good but had its moments, Season 3 was painful to watch. The acting was never stellar but season 3 hit a new low in that regard for the series, but more importantly the stories just became simply not entertaining. It's fairly obvious they let a personal agenda take over the stories, and usually when that occurs it becomes more mockable than anything else. It's sad because I'm a fan of horror anthologies, and they ran this straight into the ground. I recommend season 1, recommend season 2 but it's more hit and miss, and season 3 is as enjoyable as the latest Twilight Zone.

I'm a kid again

When the original Creepshow movie came out I was just a child. Sure it was cheesy horror, but the stories were original and the comic book imagery helped bring out its creative appeal. These same sequences are still present in this new show. Will the stories be edgy, horror induced productions? Probably not, but when was the last time you saw a show or movie billed as a horror or scary movie that actually scared you? At least Creepshow doesn't regurgitate the same scary stories over and over. They actually flex their creative muscles and keep you entertained.

Boring and Inept

Supposedly this show had a budget of 2 million dollars per episode - supposedly. I'm presuming most of that money went to the 15 or 16 producers listed because it surely is not on the screen.

To call the first two episodes tedious is paying them a compliment. In the first one alone literally nothing happens until the last couple of minutes and even then the mood is destroyed by an anti-climax which makes no sense whatsoever. The director makes the typical amateur mistake of never allowing the camera to move - EVER - which adds to the staged phoniness of the piece. Combine that with the obvious lack of money to spend (for example, a massive hurricane which consists of a couple of shots of flashing clouds and a couple of actors hit with a fan - no rain whatsoever anywhere, mind you . .) and you've got a millennial version of the low-rent Tales from the Darkside, which it clearly aspires to be.

The highly publicized "Creep" puppet looks like a fire-sale Spirit Halloween leftover, with cross-eyed mechanics and a barely mobile "ack-ack" mouth as its sole range of movement. According to fan sites, a ton of money was spent on this prop, which could easily have been surpassed by a cheap sock puppet . . the Crypt Keeper has nothing to worry about, (and still, an even WORSE version of the character was computer-generated for the title sequence for some strange reason in a wonderful example of throwing good money after bad.)

Neither story made any sense at all and both had ridiculous endings to tie them up, as though the production said "screw it, we're out of money, just tear the last few pages out." For Stephen King to be associated with this in any way is a travesty.

Still, I'm sure old fanboys will gush over this as it's clearly a love-letter to the 1980s when floppy rubber monsters were considered the height of technology. The fact that the makeup department got credited FOUR TIMES during the course of the end credits is a sure indication that's all they cared about.

Watch the original movie instead and pretend this monstrosity doesn't exist . . it'll only make you weep.

An oldie brought back from the dead...

Hello boils and ghouls. Welcome to a wonderful trip down memory lane amongst ghosts, lake monsters, zombies, scarecrows, and other things that go bump in the night.

I've always enjoyed the "Creepshow" anthologies and have been watching them since around the first one in 1982 - yup, had it on VHS. Oddly enough I wasn't aware of them having resurrected - pardon the pun - the franchise again in 2019. So when I found out, I sat down and binge watched the entire first season in one evening.

First of all, while I can't really claim to be much of a fan of the creep, the host of the anthologies, as he just seems too much of a knock-off clone of the Crypt Keeper, then he is not an essential character to the stories, so he is not that much of a nuisance. Sure, he is there and he is nicely made, but he is no Crypt Keeper, he just lacks that spark and insane laugh.

The stories are of various quality, as it is bound to be with various directors and writers on each individual story. So some of the stories were outright amazing and interesting, while others were more mundane and sort of bland. But hey, that is how it goes with anthologies; not everything can be pure gold.

What amazed me with this 2019 "Creepshow" series was the level of production value and the special effects. But more so than that, it was more impressive with some of the acting talents that they have managed to get to participate in this project. I mean, you have the likes of horror icons Jeffrey Combs and Tobin Bell, but also the likes of Bruce Davison and DJ Qualls. If they keep this up, then the audience will be in for quite a ride. And they have Greg Nicotero and also Tom Savini working on it. Yay!

Yeah, I am a fan and I am enjoying this show, and it has been a fun trip so far, and with season 1 completed and seen, I am more than definitely looking forward to seasons 2 and beyond.

Season one, fantastic - season two, unwatchable.

What is going on here? The writing and the production values are terrible in season two, though it's still pulling the star power of season one. I hope they just put the terrible episodes early in the season.

It started off amazing....what happened over the years?

I just finished watching season 4 and it was terrible. Although I have to say it was amazing seeing Tom Atkins again. The fourth season had no animations like the first three series. It doesn't have that touch like they did with the first two seasons. The first episode of season 4 wasn't even scary. It was ridiculous having a conversation with some beast like creature. It seemed irrational and absurd. I was expecting something like maybe making a story similar to The Raft or Something to Tide you over. Maybe the series can redeem itself if they finally tell the story of Pin fall. Here's to hoping. I'm a big fan and hopefully they can do better stories than this season.

Every season is worse than the last

I thought season 2 was bad but this third season is so terrible I couldn't make it passed the 4th episode. Terrible acting, writing and looks like it was made on an after school special budget. Then add in woke political ideologies and what you get is total garbage.

Great Horror Keep it coming

After i heard the tales from the crypt reboot got danned it was great to see this come out of left field. only one episode but looking very much forward to more. good production and great anthology style . just wish the stories could get drawn out a little longer maybe hour and a half or 2 for each episode . for any of the reviewers that gave this show a 1 star they are obvious shills.

Great to start to an old fave!

Two stories per episode would be great so I hope they keep it up! I love that they kept the same feel if the movies while placing Easter eggs all over. The creep factor was there while still being Tongue in cheek, just like those old comics. Creepshow first then Tales From the Crypt, creepy, funny, scary. Honestly thrilled! But if you're looking for terrifying you won't find it here, that's not what it's about. It's a traditional horro comic lovers dream

Something Missing

Why doesn't the Creepshow Skeleton talk, like he does in the originals? His effects are cheap and all he does is laugh stupidly and unenthused. It takes me out of the story.

I do like the campy nostalgia and comic book transitions, and the stories are decent.

A proper blast from the past

Just seen the 1st episode and the feeling of the old comic genre is so well done it transports you to another time. Two stories in the 1st episode each as different and original as each other. The first one was a Stephen King story and the second showed incredible imagination and skilful story telling. I highly recommend can not wait for further episodes

Not good enough to keep me interested in another season.

I won't be watching another season of Creepshow. That's basically my conclusion after watching the first six episodes. I won't say there's no quality in this series. The cinematography is most of the time good, as are the make-up artists, but the stories just feel a bit weak and unfinished. Each episode contains two stories and that's just too short of a time to make a suspenseful story. Some stories were better than others but still it wasn't good enough to make me want more. To me those short stories feel like unfinished and/or stories that most of the time would just have failed to make a decent normal length horror movie of. The acting was mostly okay so the problem is not really there. To me it's just the duration of the stories, and the dumbness in a fairly big amount of the stories, with these kind of plots you're bound to lose interest at one point, which I did. Plus there are so much more better horror series nowadays so at one point you have to make a choice.

I blame nostalgia

I figured I'd watch for nostalgic reasons. I really enjoyed the Creepshow movies from my childhood especially the first Creepshow movie. That being said; I'm straight baffled how this series is rated higher than the movies are. I love anthologies, but this feels like it's missing something. Not sure if it's the production quality, or if most of the stories feel incomplete or a combination of both. I find approximately 1 out of 5 episodes highly entertaining, although most are forgettable. My favorite being the episode that took place in outer space and most recently the horror movie museum was a fun watch.

If you're a fan of the movies of the same name then you may like this if you go in with an open mind. If you're a fan of anthology horror then I recommend checking out VHS/94, the latest of the VHS films.

A nostalgic and eerie anthology with thrilling moments

Creepshow (2019), based on the fictional comic books from the classic 1980s film, brings the horror anthology format back to life with a new series of terrifying tales. Hosted by the silent Creepshow ghoul, the series presents an array of unsettling stories, each standing alone but tied together by the anthology structure. With its blend of humor, horror, and homage to the original, Creepshow delivers thrills, chills, and a dose of campy fun.

The series thrives in its embrace of anthology storytelling, each episode offering a different narrative that pays homage to classic horror tropes while incorporating modern twists. The performances by Carey Jones, Hannah Fierman, and Kara Kimmer are solid, with each actor bringing their character to life amidst the unique situations they find themselves in. The range of stories, from supernatural to psychological horror, keeps the series fresh and engaging.

The visual style of Creepshow maintains the comic-book aesthetic that defined its predecessor, utilizing vibrant colors and practical effects to capture the eerie, campy atmosphere that fans of the original film will appreciate. The production design, especially in the more fantastical stories, creates a sense of old-school horror that feels nostalgic but still effective in delivering scares.

While some stories hit their marks, others fall into predictable territory, with occasional pacing issues that could have been tightened. However, the series succeeds in delivering enough tension, twists, and engaging narratives to keep viewers coming back for more. The balance between classic horror influences and modern sensibilities ensures that Creepshow remains a fun, if sometimes uneven, addition to the horror anthology genre.

Rating: 7/10. A fun, nostalgic anthology series that delivers a mix of horror, humor, and camp, with a few memorable tales and a few misfires.

Awful yet I've watch 3 series of it.

I don't understand how this manages to be worse on every level than the horror compendiums of the 80s. Effects, script, acting, all terrible.

I also don't understand why I continue to watch it. I guess it comes with being a horror fan and taking whatever scraps are available.
