Has great content that's worth watching even though it's probably one of the worst produced movies you'll ever see on a streaming service. Basically it's just a home movie shot by an phone but it's a fun story and shows what a huge impact a whole foods plant based diet and exercise can have on health.
I would say watch all the other documentaries first like Forks over Knives, Game Changers, Eating you Alive, What the Health, etc. This doesn't have a lot of info about the science just a little sprinkled in here and there with Barnard and Campbell interviewed quickly. It's probably better to watch as reinforcement or support for people looking to lose weight or just improve their health of what is possible.

Why the hate? Sure this is a humble and modest film yet it tells a great story that many can benefit from! Tracy is a morbidly obese woman in her late 20's and through hard work and dedication she is able to shed over 200 pounds by going whole foods and working out daily. This is a message that is applicable to many and perhaps by watching this film they will be inspired to take action. Go forth brothers and sister. Great things can be yours!
While "Unsupersize Me" won't win any awards for production values, this indie film is a must-see for anyone suffering from obesity or lifestyle related diseases like high cholesterol, blood pressure, atherosclerosis, cancer, etc. Asse shows that diet and moderate exercise can result in stunning results in a short time.
While I enjoyed the film for what it is, it would have massively benefited from a tighter edit. This is a homegrown style of documentary that once would have sold in the DVD section of health-food stores. These days, docs of this variety just don't quite cut it, but the message stands the test of time at least.
While "Unsupersie Me" was just barely tolerable production-wise, I have a feeling that the upcoming follow-up "Unsupersize Us" will be lightyears better, just based on the trailers. Regardless, put your pickiness aside and give this a watch to see just how profoundly a few simple lifestyle changes can improve your health over the course of a year.

Extremely realistic plant based documentary that really follows aspect of what it is like to completely change your life and completely transform. Any overweight person can relate to Tracy's trials and tribulations and will be inspired by her impressive and amazing results. Also what the viewer will love is how it doesn't seem to be impossible to do. She isn't starving herself. On the contrary, she eats as much as she wants... as long as it's plant based. I also like that she does cardio and strength training as well..That is also an important part of transforming and being at your best self. I highly recommend this movie, it will give you hope and the formula to escape the extra pounds that hold you back..

This is an excellent documentary focusing on the power of exercise with a plant based diet.
I loved seeing Tracy's journey to lose 200lbs in a year with Carly's method and also enjoyed learning about Juan-Carlos' personal experience.
The documentary is quick and inspiring, and none of the methods are very complicated. Carly, as Juan-Carlos likes to be called, focuses on eating a whole foods plant-based diet, and on exercising and aiming to do 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of weights a day.
He tracks Tracy throughout the entire year and shows a lot of different aspects of the weight loss, journey and of the positive impact to her health.
Highly recommend!

This award-winning documentary does not disappoint! It follows the story of Juan-Carlos Asse, owner of a personal training studio and advocate of the-whole-food-plant-based diet and Tracy Ryan, a sedentary, morbidly obese young woman who is desperate to regain her life. Asse sets out to prove that exercise combined with the WFPD diet can and will do just that.
His plan is revolutionary, and yet utterly simple. No diet pills, no calorie-counting, no gimmicks. What follows is a heartwarming and encouraging story giving hope to anyone in need of regaining their health. Tracy's transformation is incredible, how she looks, how she feels and her new lease on life is contagious!
Asse also demonstrates that the results he achieved with Tracy are possible for everyone. He gives viewers the blueprint for success! And, he proves that we don't have to give up the enjoyment derived from delicious meals in order to have our own transformation!

This was the film that was responsible for my decision to begin a new and wonderful chapter in my life. I'm not a Tracy by far, yet I find myself aspiring to be. It's a truly wonderful story, that follows Tracy, on her journey to health and fitness and transforming her life into something she never thought she could have. I am now on the same journey with a very different story. I still go back and watch this video again and again, when I am struggling with getting to the next goal. Carly has been such a blessing to me. He is the most caring and positive person I know, and truly lives the life he teaches in this film. So thankful I found this film!!!!

This is an excellent documentary covering the health benefits of exercise paired with a plant-based whole foods diet. Highly informative!
The documentary follows a subject from their typical Western lifestyle--largely sedentary, fueled by processed foods--through their health transformation caused by adopting moderate exercise and consuming a fiber-rich diet comprised of largely unprocessed or minimally processed fruits, grain, and vegetables.
I've been following these principles myself over the course of the last year, and have nearly reversed my Type 2 diabetes, been able to reduce my daily beta blocker dosage, and have lost approximately 71 pounds. Highly recommended!

Absolutely loved this movie. Our of the 3 documentaries that Juan-Carlos Asse has done, this was my favorite. I mean, Tracy Ryan's transformation is really, really impressive. Not only her physical transformation, but what she is able to do by the end of the film. It's also interesting to see how she changed as a person by the end of the film. And my favorite part is that it seemed like anyone can do it. Just eat a plant based diet and exercise, that's it. The amount of weight she lost from just walking is like nothing I've ever seen. This is definitely the best health/weight loss documentary I've ever seen. I've watched it 3 times already!
