Mess of a movie, props to the cast for trying

Breaking the 4th wall unsuccessfully since it looks like a mistake, 'surprise' moments of the bag guy showing up that are wholly predictable and completely unrealistic, ppl who are supposed to be on her side but are 'in' on it that is given away after 5 seconds removing all tension, I mean give your audience some credit. Stop spelling everything out. I want to give the Ella Balinska and Pillar Asbeak some credit, they are really trying. The female protagonist is not allowed to act smartly, she's in panic mode the whole movie. She gets trapped somewhere, door knob rattles and instead of looking for another way out or a weapon, she's made to come out through the same door looking like a deer in headlights. Where is the tension and build up in that? I was not scared even one second. It's not the acting that's the problem by way, I need to say that. The cast is really trying. It's bad direction. It feels like a film school movie, though students may do better with way less budget.

A film of two halves

Starts well. Exciting, mysterious atmosphere.

Pans out into a dark survival mix of The Purge,The Hunt/Ready or Not montage promise.

Some great moments of 'oh no this is a bad idea' foreboding horror warnings.

Grows enjoyably with a dark atmosphere, a meeting / date / becomes more than with a good solid lead cast and support.

A good growing paranormal undertone develops then... bam! Turns into a mess of obtuse metaphors and old cliches mixed with modern life pressures worries and messages which are just runs out of steam and time rushed school essay ending' B movie I did enjoy it, despite some dragged out parts.

Some nice twists in the ideas but... Had so much more potential.

Try harder next time.

Here's the deal with this one...

Let me get straight to it - this movie is good for what is but it does have holes in it, holes that need more context overall. Nonetheless, the film keeps your attention throughout the film even though you will have a lot of questions. It can't go deeper within all that's happening as the film goes on, and the answers you want are where those holes are in the story.

Production quality is solid but the storyline is where the questions begin to build. You hope for answers but you don't really get them, only a possible hint that feels like it's left open to your own interpretation, yet you can't stop watching it because you want to, have to see how the film ends for Cherie (the main character).

Towards the end of the film is where it gets sort of weird a little bit, maybe a little cheesy. In its entirety, you're left wondering the what, when, where, and why.

If you're going to watch it, expect a weird story but also know there's holes. Enjoy.

Spoiled by over the top messaging

This film is a real shame. It had the makings of a decent thriller but the heavy handed #metoo messaging ruins the immersion. Every man in it is irredeemably evil / stupid even when it makes absolutely no sense from a character motivation viewpoint. Rather than spending time on a plot it lurches from one evil misogyny trope to the next, sexist boss, man fondling on the tube, evil white billionaire, evil white male cop, selfish former boyfriend etc. At the end of the film all you are left thinking is damn who hurt you re the writers.

You really don't have to hit your audience in the face with your message in every scene.

Ella Balinska keeps things moving despite poor third act

Run Sweetheart Run has a very simple concept, that works thanks to a great lead performance and an entertaining first two acts. Unfortunately it doesn't fully stick the landing.

The positives of this movie, of course Ella Balinska is great. She is easily the best part about this movie and did a really nice job. Pilou Asbæk was also pretty good as the villain. The movie is very well directed with some nice cinematography. There's some nice stylistic choices that give the movie a kinda fun feel. It's very fast paced and once the movie starts, it never really stops. Its constantly entertaining from start to finish which made this movie a fun watch.

However this film suffers from its final 20 minutes. It completely shifts into something quite ridiculous, and it almost steered away the first two acts. It suddenly tries to bash you with this message in the final act that just kinda felt a little too much. And finally I felt that the film had too many scenes of 4th wall breaking. It felt very strange and rather distracting.

Overall despite a disappointing final act, and strange stylistic choices, Run Sweetheart Run is a fun movie elevated by a great lead performance, fast pacing, and good directing.

An innovative horror movie with a brilliant acting crew

This is the story of a girl who double-books his boss. Since one of the bookings is for her boss's anniversary, the girl has to go to the other event which is a meeting a client, and the story begins. The story is very innovative. It is hard to predict what comes next. I liked the ending. The acting crew was awesome. Ella Balinska, Pilou Asbaek, and Shohreh Aghdashloo played well in this movie. The special effects were wonderful. The background music and sound effects were in sync with the scenes. This is a well-made horror movie. You see unique movements of the camera, especially in the final scene. I recommend this movie to horror genre fans.

I Liked It

Firstly let's remember this is a horror and not looking to win best picture at the award ceremonies.

It's started well, it moves along well and it ends well.

Ella Balinska does a great job as the lead.

She's gorgeous, sexy and tough.

She was excellent the Resident Evil Reboot. She's a super lead.

Pilou Asbaek is excellent as the baddie and your really routing for Ella to kick his arse.

I've seen lots of comments about plot holes.

Seriously?

Have you watched many horror movies .

This is one of the better modern horrors I've seen.

Ella Balinska is one to watch.

I've recently seen her in Charlie's Angels and Junction 9 and knew she was going to get better with every project .

Put this one on your Halloween watch list.

You won't regret it !

Just keep running!

What starts out a very trivial plot turns in to an all out crazy ride of survival horror at night...

Where you kind of think the story is going becomes something completely different... With subtle clues leading to a discovery of a protected secret of one of our main antagonists....

I loved the feel of this movie, very stylish something similar to 'DRIVE' glossy... Very down town L. A with great music....

But it's the plot that truly delivers as the story unfolds, it takes on this whole new pace of movie with our lead 'Cherie' trying to survive, this film is made of 2 halves one lending to the other!

I give it a 3, generously

The plot and storyline was good. The execution and direction was terrible. I didn't know if homie was a vampire, a monster, the devil, a stalker. It was just a mess in my opinion. These new age thriller movies are just not the same as the old school ones. They use to really put it together. And put thought into it. In my opinion, all the new age movies try to focus on is trying to reflect the "modern day" lifestyle, and no real afford is going into creating the movie itself. Everybody in Hollywood now wants to be socially appeasing to the modern lifestyle, that no real thought is going into directing.

Entertaining For Some But Not For Everyone

Cherie goes to a meeting/date with Ethan. It starts off great and ends badly.

The foundation of the story is the power struggle between men and women. So if you think this is feminist or would call it "woke", you probably aren't going to find much enjoyment in watching it.

I liked our lead character Cherie. She is beautiful, smart and has ambitious goals of becoming a lawyer. She starts out being sweet but develops nicely throughout the film.

Ethan, our antagonist, is wealthy, handsome and aside from having a hair triggered temper when it comes to his fear of dogs, seems to be a decent guy. Cherie warms to him but is quickly turned off when a nightcap turns ugly. She will spend the whole movie trying to get away from Ethan, who has every intention of killing her if he gets to her by nights end.

The story has a few plot holes and unexplained events that, had they been focused on, would have made the movie much better. It is filmed and acted well but it could've used a boost in the special effects department.

Overall, I enjoyed it. I was entertained and wouldn't mind recommending it to friends.

The person who made the trailer deserves an award

The trailer looked like an amazing Halloween movie, but my wife and I were surprised to find a true comedic gem instead. I can't recall the last time we laughed so much.

It just seemed like the director's research for this film involved taking elements from Kill Bill, Fright Night, Dracula 2,000, Halloween (mainly the music), smashing all of these together, and then sprinkling in dialogue/plot that clearly came from a feminist AI that knew the words of a true feminist yet couldn't quite get those words to flow together naturally.

All in all, this movie doubles as a horror/thriller and a parody of itself. I highly recommend. The reason why I marked it so low is because it was not classified as a comedy. If it were classified as such, 10 out 10 easily.

Accomplished thriller/horror

Emphasis on the former.

While the message may be a little on the nose, it's perhaps necessary in the world at the moment.

There's some accomplished filmmaking here by Shana Feste though. The fourth wall work is inspired, essentially editting what we do not *need* to see and therefore enforcing the point of the film in one fell swoop.

And dealing with menstruation this ... boldly is also surely of great value. Sad it needs to be but that's again where the piece shows its worth.

Epla Balinska and Pilou Asbaek are ripe for their respective roles. Watch as the latter halts you from encroaching on his 'work'.

If I had a teenage daughter old enough to see it, I'd be showing her this film.

Horribly written

Horribly written and not even sensible.. To void her pickup so she can have a nightcap while heavily menstruating is SILLY...... this went left at 16:35 into film. Not sure how this made it into production w such a failed plot. Doesn't even deserve 600 characters review response. Familiar actors are what draw you in but loses me at previously mentioned time in film. Now I simply have to write more and waste time on this waste of time movie because someone thought it necessary to require 600 character response in order to submit a review. Shaking my head is all that comes to mind but this definitely needs to change..!
