This is not a fun movie, but it has moments both fun and sad. It is a thought provoking movie in several ways. It makes implied statements about 1) the effects of racial injustice; 2) prejudice against gays; 3) prejudice against "druggies"; 4) government coverups; and 5) ethics of medical/psychological research on live human subjects. I won't say a lot about any of those subjects beyond what I've already said. There are internet articles that provide information and viewpoints about the experiment.
The movie had plenty to do with social comment, but it also showed a number of relationships up close. Many of these were touching and interesting.
Despite the inclusion of at least two recurring Hallmark actors (Bristow and Kohan), and possibly directors or writers, this is not a rom/com. I doubt we'll ever see it on that channel.
I watched this because of one particular actor and "enjoyed" it, assuming a broad definition of "enjoy".

Cinematic excellence! A fabulous untold (true) story set in 1972. An experiment turned conspiracy, involving; beautiful women, mental health, and loads of marijuana. It's the kind of story that will stick with you.
This story had so much promise: female students who were asked to participate in a legal experiment with marijuana, during the seventies.
The bad: however promising the start, this movie fails to become really exciting.
Not any good? The acting is good. But the whole movie never goes beyond just an average story.

When I heard the movie was based on a true story, I was expecting to learn something about this experiment, which I did, but I was surprised how much I also learned about the times. I was also really entertained and enjoyed the film very much. The performances were great as were the twists and turns of these fascinating characters. The look of the film captured the early 70's beautifully.
Was this a student film from the local high school? My word, this was terrible. Was it the acting? The redundant dialogue? The after school special storyline? Wait, wait, wait. No it's the soft gentle guitar sounds that really bring the emotion to each tear jerking scene. It could also be the fact that if we could just require everyone in the world to watch these lessons of how how to live our lives, we could eliminate racism, homophobia, sexism, and the stigma on weed. If I took a shot every time someone said the word "bogus" I might actually have enjoyed the 2 hours and 7 minutes that I'd trade for anything. This movie was totally "bogus"
