Beverly Hills, 90210 Star Jennie Garth Regrets Joining The CW's Reboot
Image
After an initial run of 10 seasons, Beverly Hills, 90210 was given new life in the form of CW's 90210 reboot. While most of the original cast avoided appearing in the new incarnation, a few key cast members returned, reprising their original roles. Shannen Doherty, Tori Spelling, and Jennie Garth all signed on for the initial season of the reboot, but over the first two seasons, the characters disappeared on screen, with the series moving in a different direction. Unfortunately, the situation is not fondly remembered by Garth, who seemingly regrets her participation in 90210.

Garth recently reunited with several of her former co-stars for 90s Con in Daytona, having plenty to say about her time on the 90210 sequel series. According to People, despite Brian Austen Green acknowledging the concept of the series being something he likes, Garth couldn't help but express her desire to turn back the clock and...

Luke Perry and Jennie Garth
Jennie Garth, star of Beverly Hills, 90210, actually didn’t love returning for The CW’s reboot years later.

The actress, who reprised her role as Kelly Taylor in 90210, which ran from 2008 to 2013, shared that she regretted participating in the remake during a recent panel at ’90s Con in Florida. “I wish I hadn’t done it. No offense to them,” she said, via People.

Beverly Hills, 90210: Ages Of The Main Cast In Season 1 Vs Now
Image
Many of the cast members in Beverly Hills, 90210 season 1 were significantly older than their characters, which was a source of criticism when the show first aired. By the time the show concluded that characters had become adults, which made the age difference between cast and character less noticeable. While it's difficult to look past when revisiting the show in the 2020s, the practice of getting adults to play teenagers was the norm when 90210 debuted in the 1990s.

While Beverly Hills, 90210 is one of the most iconic teen sitcoms ever to grace the small screen, a common criticism of the show concerned how old the cast of 90210 was. Set in West Beverly High, a fictional high school in an affluent area of Los Angeles, California, all the main characters were high school students, which means they should have been about 16 when the show began. Yet many actors...

How to Watch the Beverly Hills 90210 Franchise (Including Key Episodes)
Image
"Beverly Hills, 90210" was a landmark TV show that spoke to an entire generation of teen viewers and lasted for 10 seasons from 1990-2000. The spin-off series "Melrose Place" ran for seven seasons from 1992-1999 and focused on a group of young adults living in an apartment complex in West Hollywood. "BH90210" was a meta-revival of the original show that followed the original cast members as they navigate the decision to reboot the series and confront the challenges of aging in Hollywood.

Created by Darren Star and produced by Aaron Spelling, Beverly Hills, 90210 remains one of the most popular teen dramas in TV history. The series follows Minnesota transplants Brandon (Jason Priestly) and Brenda Walsh (Shannon Doherty), two all-American midwesterners who relocate to the affluent suburbs of Los Angeles and experience a whirlwind of culture shock.

10 Actors Who Turned Down The Chance To Return For TV Show Reboots
Image
TV reboots and revivals often struggle without the original actors, as their absence can detract from the new story. Some actors decline offers to return due to financial disagreements or personal reasons. The success of a reboot is questionable if key characters are missing, as seen in shows like Frasier and Full House.

Reboots and revivals of older TV shows are abundant today, but not all of them manage to secure the actors from the original series. Some have simply moved on to other projects and don't want to work backward, while a few of the stars from classic sitcoms like Full House or Will & Grace have retired from acting altogether. Others do not appear to support the idea of a reboot in general, recognizing that it would be better to let the original series stand as it is.

While some TV reboots and revivals turn out all right,...

Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth Discuss Shannen Doherty’s Beverly Hills, 90210 Exit: ‘It Would Have Been Really Nice To Have Brenda Come Back'
Image
During a recent episode of the rewatch podcast 90210Mg, hosts Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling opened up about Shannen Doherty's exit from Beverly Hills, 90210. When the hit series premiered in 1990, Doherty portrayed Brenda Walsh, a teenager relocating with her twin brother Brandon (portrayed by Brandon Walsh) and parents (James Eckhouse and Carol Potter), from Minnesota to the affluent zip code; Garth and Spelling starred as best friends Kelly Taylor and Donna Martin. Following poor ratings during its first season, the series gained momentum after Fox aired a summer season. Beverly Hills, 90210 went on to become a huge success for the network, and catapulted much of its cast, including Doherty, Spelling, Garth, Luke Perry and Jason Priestley, into super stardom.

The Beverly Hills, 90210 and Charmed alum revealed the news with an Instagram video on Tuesday that showed her receiving the first round of radiation to her brain in January. “My fear is obvious,” Doherty added in a caption. “I am extremely claustrophobic and there was a lot going on in my life.” She went on to thank her doctors and the staff that helped her, “but that fear… The turmoil… the timing of it all… This is what cancer can look like.”

Charmed: Where You Recognize The Cast
Image
Back in the 2000s, Charmed was considered to be one of the best fantasy dramas thanks to its talented cast and dynamic characters. Airing on the WB Network between 1998 and 2006, Charmed followed the lives of the Halliwell Sisters (known as the Charmed ones), who come from a family of witches and spend most of their lives trying to save the world from the demonic underworld. While the battle between good and evil is always at the heart of most stories, the writers made sure that the series wasn't completely dark as they included elements of romance and comedy.

While Shannen Doherty, Hollie Marie Combs, Alyssa Milano, and Rose McGowan often stood out among the Charmed cast due to the fact that they got the most screen time, the show also featured several other talented stars too who either played warlocks, demons, whitelighters, or Elders. Their characters may not have been...

Tori Spelling & Jennie Garth Recreate Iconic Beverly Hills 90210 Scene
Image
Beverly Hills, 90210 stars Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth have recreated an iconic moment from the primetime soap. The long-running series, which followed the lives of residents in Los Angeles' upscale neighborhood of Beverly Hills, lasted ten seasons between 1990 and 2000. Garth played the privileged Kelly Taylor, while Spelling played one of her best friends, the bubbly Donna Martin.

On her Instagram, Spelling recently shared a video participating in the viral trend of recreating an old photo to the tune of Simple Plan's "I'm Just a Kid." She and Garth were recently visiting their former co-star Lindsay Price to appear on her new Hsn show In the Spirit. While they were together, they recorded this video, recreating an iconic moment where Janet let Kelly and Donna know that she was pregnant during season 10 episode 2, titled "Let's Eat Cake," which aired in 1999. Chucky (2021)
Chucky Season 2 Episode 4 Review: Death On Denial
Chucky (2021)
Now that's the Chucky we know and love.

Chucky Season 2 Episode 4 was a unique hour that broke the fourth wall, introduced a bunch of celebrities, and showcased some big returns.

Off the bat, I wasn't interested in the show's attempt at bringing people from Jennifer Tilly's life into the orbit because I figured it would break the immersion of the series.

I couldn't have been more wrong because throwing Meg Tilly, Sutton Stracke, and Gina Gershon into the mix as heightened versions of themselves worked well to show that Tiffany is keeping up this ruse as the actress.

It reminded me of BH90210 in terms of the setup and how the series kept tipping the hat to the real world.

Gina Gershon and Jennifer Tilly have a lot of chemistry that continues to translate very well onto the screen, but I didn't peg Gershon as the butler killer.

If anything,...

The book is the first installment in Harper’s “Witches of Thistle Grove” novel series, with the planned show set to take that name as well.

Per the official logline, “Witches of Thistle Grove” is “a show about Emmy Harlow, a young woman with big dreams who abandoned her charming but podunk hometown to prove herself in the big city. When she’s suddenly called home nine years later to fulfill a family obligation — which, okay, happens to be arbitrating a centuries-old gauntlet — she’s forced to confront family rifts, broken friendships, and Gareth Blackmoore — a detestable but Hot Af ex who broke her heart and, it turns out, also screwed her friends: Her childhood bestie Linden Thorn, and the sexy,...

Jason Priestley on Why ‘BH90210’ Got Canceled, and Why He Would Act in ‘Euphoria’ If He Were a Young Star
Image
At the 61st Monte-Carlo Television Festival, Jason Priestley looked back at the success of ’90s teen soap “Beverly Hills, 90210,” and explained why the 2019 reboot “BH90210” got canceled by Fox after one season.

“BH90210” was described by Variety as a “soapy parody” that gave “the actors behind our favorite characters the space to play versions of themselves while poking fun at the public personas, rabid fans and roles that made them famous.” It saw original series cast members Priestley, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, Brian Austin Green, Tori Spelling and Shannen Doherty playing heightened versions of themselves, rather than their original characters. But it was a high stakes gamble that ultimately didn’t pay off, said the North Vancouver native.

“We tried something with that show. It was a risky premise to build a show around. It was a real high-wire act to pull that show off, if we...

Fox Entertainment Names Brooke Bowman Head of Drama, Charlie Andrews Exits
Image
Brooke Bowman has been promoted to executive vice president of drama development and programming at Fox Entertainment.

She succeeds Charlie Andrews in the role, with Andrews exiting the company. The parting with Andrews is said to be on good terms, with his contract simply coming to an end.

Bowman was previously senior vice president in the Fox drama department. She will now report directly to Michael Thorn, president of entertainment at Fox Entertainment. She will be based in Los Angeles.

“Brooke has been an important and trusted part of our team, playing an invaluable role in helping shape and implement our blueprint to expand and diversify Fox’s slate,” said Thorn. “Supremely creative, well-respected across town and fearless in taking big swings, she is primed to take over the reins; and I’m excited to have her alongside as we steer our drama strategy well into the future.”

During her time with Fox,...

Brooke Bowman Elevated To Head Of Drama At Fox Entertainment As Charlie Andrews Exits
Image
Exclusive: Charlie Andrews has stepped down as EVP, Drama Programming and Development at Fox Entertainment after fours years as head of the broadcast network’s drama department. He is succeeded by Brooke Bowman, most recently SVP, Drama Programming and Development, who has been promoted to EVP, Drama Programming and Development.

Based in Los Angeles and reporting to Fox Entertainment President Michael Thorn, Bowman will supervise the development and production of new and returning scripted drama series for the network.

Andrews, a well liked development executive, took over the Fox drama department in November 2017. His departure was amicable; I hear his contract was up and he left to pursue bigger responsibilities elsewhere as the top executive deck at Fox is pretty stacked.

As SVP Drama Programming and Development for the past six years, Bowman oversaw such series as The Resident, Prodigal Son, Lethal Weapon, BH90210, Rosewood, Scream Queens, Sleepy Hollow and,...

Shannen Doherty on Acting, Facing Cancer and SAG-AFTRA’s ‘Broken System’ of Health Insurance
Image
Shannen Doherty has acted since she was a child, and throughout the 1980s, she worked steadily on television (as Jenny on “Little House on the Prairie”) and in movies (as Heather Duke in “Heathers”). In the early ‘90s, she achieved icon status after the slow-burn explosion of the teen soap “Beverly Hills, 90210,” which propelled its cast into the spotlight, and led the gossip press to follow their every move. After that initial blast of celebrity, Doherty continued to work prolifically in “Mallrats” (1995), “Charmed,” a tonnage of TV movies and more. She even starred in a 2012 reality show, “Shannen Says,” which followed her planning her wedding to photographer Kurt Iswarienko.

Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, and went through treatment — which she documented on her Instagram — until her remission in April 2017. But in winter 2019, Doherty learned that it had recurred, and that it had become metastatic Stage 4 cancer — which is treatable,...

With the help of Gordon Bombay, (Emilio Estevez) they rediscover the joys of playing just for love of the game.

The series also stars Maxwell Simkins, Swayam Bhatia, Julee Cerda, Luke Islam, Bella Higginbotham, Taegen Burns, Kiefer O’Reilly, and De’Jon Watts. The first season of “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers” debuted on Disney Plus back in March. It consisted of 10 episodes. Production on Season 2 is slated to begin in early 2022.

Lachey will star as Jane Tennant, the first woman Sac of NCIS: Hawai’i. She’s described as being as diplomatic as she is hard-charging. But Tennant is more than just a job and a title. She’s a mother raising her kids mostly on her own. Like any parent who loves their career and their family – she’s a master juggler – balancing the duty to both her children and her country.
