Discovering just over two years ago some of her actor mother Eve Chester's possessions, she who passed 20 years ago while performing at Christmastime, interior decorator Miranda Chester, living in Seattle at the time, found and ended up connecting with a side of her family which she never knew about living in the small town of Carlton Heath, Vermont, including her now-deceased actor father James Whitcomb, his widow Margaret, and their son Peter and his family. Through this connection, Miranda fell in love with Ian McAndrick, and the two planned to wed on Christmas Day at the Carlton Heath Inn owned by Ian's parents, and begin their new life together at the Inn. Christmas is an important time of year for them in their relationship, so it must be their wedding day. Beyond many family members performing in "A Christmas Carol" on Christmas Eve at the local James Whitcomb Theater, the wedding becomes more complex as Margaret invites many of James' long-lost friends to the wedding--one of whom might distract Margaret from everything else in her life--and as Miranda discovers that what was her non-existent family life just two years ago could be expanded by even one more if the story told to her is true.—Huggo

Ian McAndrick, attorney in small-town Carlton Heath, Vermont, patiently deals with his Seattle bride Miranda Chester, whom he met and fell in love with when she came discover her absent actor father James' roots there, gradually giving up her doubts about family friend Thomas Reid's claim to know all about her mother's mysterious past.
