Sophie, our protagonist, is living in an orphanage since her brother disappeared 3 years earlier, and while searching for him, she runs into a whole different world of "Horrors" and Makai knights and alchemists(the good guys).
Sophie's growth throughout the series and the action scenes really make the anime worth watching, but if you're not into over-the-top fights between good and evil, i guess you can give this one a skip.
