Sister Katherine

A couple of Florida-based websites offering boy/girl and boy/boy Mormon porn have cropped up, finally gaining my attention by issuing their content on DVD, including "Sister Katherine". It's an interesting form of exploitation cinema, replete with fake names and fake website information about the Mormon religion.

A beautiful, vulnerable looking actress plays Katherine, reminding me of a cross between lesbian porn icon Sovereign Syre and TV's Supergirl Melissa Benoist. Six scenes depict her travails as a submissive mistreated by the Mormon elders. (More recently the listing I submitted has been updated by a knowledgable fan, matching Katherine as lesbian actress Pepper XO -thank you for being so eagle-eyed!)

These pornographers cover their tracks by having zero legitimate credits on their work; I was able to deduce visually that "Katherine"'s pretty blonde co-stars are played by Cadence Lux and Chloe Couture. Their lesbian scenes highlight the 2-hour video, while two unfamiliar looking guys play the elders who sexually abuse the virginal heroine.

The show is stylistically interesting, staged (other than a scene in President Nelson's office, Nelson played by a guy whose body-builder, ripped physique came as a surprise bit of casting) in white-on-white spare settings. The overall effect of attractive female flesh against the white backdrop reminded me of the various Digital Sin videos (often in massage mode) directed by Brother Love, and the photography and processing is well-done. A scene of Katherine giving a blow-job to some guy through a hole in a white curtain is a novel update of porn's traditional Glory Hole gambit.

A somber, humorless mood of utter seriousness is maintained throughout, effectively creating and sustaining the intended fantasy depiction of sex abuse in a Mormon context. Perhaps the director is a pretentious fan of master filmmakers like Carl Th. Dreyer and Robert Bresson (a la art house porn maven Lars Von Trier). I'm sure the auteur has an Amish version (and website) of this junk in preparation too, anything with a tinge of the forbidden or taboo is mother's milk to bottom-feeding exploitation filmmakers.
