"Daughter of the Wolf" is a film that deserved a better screenplay. The landscape and scenery are magnificent and the viewer sees the film expecting a better resolution of the story of a skilled military woman that has her teenage son abducted by criminals. Unfortunately the screenplay is very weak and confused, with poor character and situation development. Anyway it is not as bad as many reviews indicate and may be watched with low expectations. My vote is six.

Daughter of the Wolf is a new action-thriller film, that stars Gina Carano and Richard Dreyfuss.

Now i didn't have any problem with the movie and it's story, and scenery and cinematography and all that, i thought it was all great. So i don't understand all the negative reviews with all these people, i don't think they have anything better to do with themselves but be negative.

But anyway the only problem i had is that there simply isn't enough action as a whole. With a former Mixed Martial Arts star in the lead role, you would expect the movie to be action-packed from start to finish. Instead, there is much more drama and story line which is okay too. Now this film's biggest crime isn't that it is boring - it's that it just doesn't take full advantage of the situation it's in.

Richard Dreyfuss's performance - is the movie's biggest highlight. Dreyfuss, really hams it up in his role here. Additionally, the film looks very impressive on a technical level, so it would have been a major disappointment had the movie not at least looked nice

And starring Gina Carano, you would think that there would have been plenty of great fight scenes but there isn't anything great. Still i like Gina Carano, and with her presence, and her fist-fighting credentials, hopefully she will land some good action film roles soon.

Overall, Daughter of the Wolf isn't that great, Apart from a crazy wacky performance from Richard Dreyfuss as the villain, but it's not as bad as these negative reviewers make it out to be either..

Conclusion - If your a fan of Gina Carano like i am, then i suggest you watch the movie anyway!

This whole movie the best acting was done by wolf.. Good one wolf..

I'll admit I had such high hope for this movie and was kind of disappointed by the slow Plot line which made it fairly boring however at the end the movie really redeemed itself and I loved it ! "Where is my son" sent shivers down my spine the final time gina's Character "Clair" said it and I genuinely got goosebumps , there is no greater power on earth than a parent for child am I right !

This is clearly one of the worst screenplays I have ever seen. Very little in this film makes sense: scrupulous but abused guys who follow their fragile super-old abuser "father" blindly (instead of killing him), Sydelle who does not find the kids footprints in the snow, the three who surrender their weapons to the protagonist, Clair/Carano who does not shoot the three dead (in order to give them another chance to pursue her and her kid), ... And even if you were prepared to switch off the brain, there is no action to enjoy, because the fighting scenes are incredibly bad. Just take Clair against Sydelle with the kid stumbling into the middle. That scene was probably designed for a comedy.

Let's face it Carano is not really an actress, but she was at some stage a fighter, so the only way forward is for her to impress with fighting scenes and put in professional actors for the rest. Director, scriptwriter and producer failed to get even that right.

Gina discovered her niche that is poor choice in scripts, production studio. I'm still bewildered why her career is in action films, but she refuses to get fit, lean & toned. I followed her brief MMA career & she was habitually against embracing proper physical training. I've never seen he so full figured, soft & fluffy. Evidently, she isn't using her extra spare time in acting classes. WA wolves were reintroduced to our forests because of our crumbling wildlife ecosystem & the deer devastating the forest's lower canopy. Sorry our wildlife & forest health need wolves despite the sloppy, lazy depiction here. Thank goodness only limited audience will see this.

I love films set in the winter especially during the blizzard's of snow & i found this excellent Direct-to-dvd Thriller to be a nice companion piece to the excellent survival Thriller THE GREY!!! Both are set in the snowy wilderness with hungry wolves & both are about survival. The Grey & Daughter of the Wolf would make a perfect double bill for a cold winter night of movies.

I was pleasantly surprised by how good this film was, it doesn't feel cheap or low-budget & the winter setting is beautiful & we get an excellent performance from a lady action hero with Gina Carano (The Mandalorian, In the Blood) who is totally convincing as Claire a strong, smart & deadly ex-soldier who is trying to get her kidnapped son back from a gang of who is using her son for a big ransom. Gina makes such a tough & no-nonsense character as Claire, she's a mum & ex-soldier who basically has to use her skills to survive the mountain, the wolves & fight her way through the criminals to get to her son & Gina is also a very good actress to can act as well as kick-ass. Gina is also great in another Survival Thriller called IN THE BLOOD.

The leader of the criminal gang is that of an old man known as Father played by the legendary Richard Dreyfuss & oh my is it good to watch this veteran old school actor still on screen!!! Dreyfuss is one of the most important actors to me since little & growing up watching him in Classic movies such as JAWS & CLOSE ENCOUNTERS & STAKEOUT & WHAT ABOUT BOB? & DOWN & OUT IN BEVERLY HILLS among others, Dreyfuss is a true Movie star & here he steals every scene as the main villain of this exciting survival Thriller. Father is an angry old man with a big chip on his shoulder & a bitter past with Claire's recently dead father of which he was once a friend of but turned enemy over money. Dreyfuss gives a great rugged & viscous performance & is so engrossing on screen.

Another standout performance is from Brendan Fehr (In Hell) as one of Father's helpless sons pushed into this Kidnapping situation but he's not an evil guy & Brendan gives his character a sadness & a sympathetic side.

The action is bloody & raw & the scenes of the Wolves savagely attacking people are ridiculously realistic looking & adds to the tension of the story.

Daughter of the Wolf is part action film, part Survival Thriller & part Mystery drama & all done well.

For a Direct-to-dvd film "Daughter" is Excellent & way above what most of these types of low-budget flicks usually are!!!!

A Excellent Survival Thriller with a good solid story & great performances.

I was pleasantly surprised. The movie is well made and the Canada winter backdrop is breathtaking. Excellent cinematography. Gina Corano's acting is improving with each new movie. Richard Dreyfus plays an awesome villain. He's a nasty old curmudgeon. A little side note. The wolves in this movie are all real Canada wolves. I mention this because a major problem I had with the far superior movie The Grey was the movies use of animatronic wolves. It was obvious and very distracting. So great job to the film crew for incorporating real Canada wolves.

Mom's son is kidnapped for ransom somewhere in Canada. Unlike the usually intelligent, creative filming that comes out of Eastern Canada this, not well thought out, script out of Western Canada needs help & a bit of proofreading. Dressed in all black (stands out against the snow - smart!) mom goes after a half dozen fully armed men in the snowy winter backcountry & mountains. The most egregious film mistake was having mom get tossed into freezing water twice & seems unaffected. Ever hear of hypothermia? Despite being soaked she, in one case, magically builds a shelter with a huge fire. Finally, for no rational reason, a wild wolf gathers his/her pack to mysteriously appear every so often to protect moms.

My God this movie is bad. I wonder if Richard Dreyfuss recently got divorced and is broke - so he said yes to this amateur hack a thon. DO NOT - I repeat DO NOT waste 90 minutes watching this. I got about 15 minutes in and had to stop. Yes - it IS that bad.

Seriously, just move along. Don't waste your time on this.

Chasing, killing, wolf hunting summarized it all. It's not exciting at all for everything I seen, storyline is weak too.

Filmed in the mountains the movie tells the story of a young mother (military trained mother) trying to get back her son kidnapped by the so called "Father" (Richard Dreyfuss). Nice winter mountain landscapes and a lot of action with people trying to survive in the wilderness among wild cruel wolves. I believe it was a pretty decent action movie, well directed shot in the mountains with an amazing scenery. Worth watching !

This is the best film I've seen since Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter! I highly recommend this.

From the beginning to end the action-packed and extreme violence are continued , it's fast movement and that's why the picture is quite entertaining . Thriller movie full of noisy action as well as violent fights, being magnificently staged . The action here is relentless and unstoppable ; as our beautiful , two-fisted soldier Gina Carano uses all of her skills, tricks and abilities to carry out a unplacatable manhunt and subsequenly she exacts an unforgiving vengeance . Director David Hackl establishes his signature style of kinetically-paced story-telling through lush imagery , leading a fine cast and receiving acceptable critics . The picture is full of tumultuous sequences with frenetic action , surprises , fierce combats and groundbreaking struggles . A simple and plain plot about a warrior woman who becomes involved into an unmollifiable manhunt as her teenage son is abducted by criminals . However , a weak script with slight character studio and without knowing well the motivations of the peculiar roles marred partially the result . Concerning a strong battle of wits and physical force between two tough protagonists , both of them holed up in the wet and tangled wilderness of British Columbia , Canada. The outdoors are frankly spectacular , the landscapes have been filmed in natural parks from The Cove Lakeside, West Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada . Duo starring are pretty good . Gina Carano is enormous as the two-fisted and stubborn soldier who will stop at nothing to free her son and at whatever cost . Carano is one of Hollywood's most unique rising stars. Carano began her training with Muay Thai to competitive MMA, where she competed in Strikeforce . Her popularity led to her being called the "Face of Women's MMA". She played television series American Gladiators before her breakout performance in Steven Soderbergh's film Haywire . Carano underwent a long and intensive tactical training course with an expert trainer , an ex-Israeli special ops fighter and spending a lot of time in stunts and learning the art of surveillance and countersurveillance . Furthermore , Richard Dreyfuss is top-notch , as always, playing the veteran , corrupt and ambitious ¨Father¨. They are well accompanied by an adequate secondary cast , such as Brendan Fehr , Anton Gillis-Adelman and Sydelle Noel.

It packs a colorful and gorgeous cinematography by cameraman Mark Dobrescu . The motion picture was professionally directed by David Hackl, though has some flaws , gaps and shortcomings . Hackl began working as a production designer in successful films as Outlander , The Barrens , Saw IV , Saw III ; in fact David Hackl won the 2008 Cyber Horror Awards -Albert S. D'Agostino Award for Best Production Design for Repo! The Genetic Opera. And eventually directing some films , such as : Dangerous , Life on the line , Grizzly Maze , Saw V and TV series : Nowhere to Hide , Real Detective , among others. Daughter of the Wolf (2019) rating : 5.5/10. Acceptable and passable. The picture will appeal to Gina Carano , Richard Dreyfuss fans and action genre enthusiasts.

This was one of the most horrendous pieces of garbage I've seen in years. If completely lacked direction, it was a terrible story and it required enormous leaps of faith every 10 minutes, which were completely implausible, completely unbelievable and completely ridiculous.

Does Hollywood think that we are all absolute idiots, don't they ever give us any credibility? Richard Dreyfuss has sunk to new lows a d there is nothing left of his career, he's taking anything they'll give him at this point. Good idea to skip this one, and save yourself 90 minutes of your life.

The story was simple and shallow. The important moments in the movie lacked power, fighting scenes looked fake. Random cinematic shots of wolves did not contribute to the movie, nor the story. This movie simply lacked talent, both on the acting, editing and directing side.

Greetings from Florianópolis, Brazil I do not know if Richard Dreyffus was invited to this movie, so his name would bring attention to it or he's in the final stages of his career ... The acting is bad, the story is silly or at least "cliche". The roll of the wolves and their "relationship" with the "main actress" (by the way_ Who is she again"?) is not clear at all, so why is she the "Daughter of the Wolf"? Don´t waste your time on it.
