Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar is a slow burner & grow on you with time! By the time film reached to climax, you are completely in awe of Dibakar Banerjee's world. It's totally unpredictable from start to finish. Yes! There are issues with pacing, and I felt like a lot was let unexplained or untied, but great performances specially by Raghuvir Yadav, as a typical conservative uncle with a liking for surgical strike makes it a worth watch. Also the inversion of gender dynamics works really well, and even though maybe they could have casted better actors I think both Arjun and Parineeti delivered their career best performances in this film. Thanks to Dibakar Banerjee for bringing out the actors in both of them. And BTW, the 'Faraar' track sung by Anu Malik is a Banger.
Overall, This Film is Definitely a good One-Time Watch.

Overall, This Film is Definitely a good One-Time Watch.
Coming from a capable director like Dibakar Banerjee and an equally talented writer like Varun Grover, I had fairly high expectations from this film. Let me tell you that I was not disappointed at all. The story is fresh, the performances are grounded and real, the cinematography is brilliant. The only flaw that I could find was with the pacing. It could've been 15-20 minutes shorter. But that pales in comparison to the good aspects of the film. So, watch this film while its still in theatres because it deserves your time and money. If you're worried about the other reviews calling the two leads' performances underwhelming or expressionless, just know that they have been spoiled by years of watching stars overact on screen. This film is as real as it gets.
Good movie to watch after a long time period the acting from both characters is best the movie is well shot the music is fabulous.
You know something is very wrong right from the brilliant opening montage of Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar (Sandeep and Pinky On the Run), a story about two chance expendables running for their life. The brilliance lies in the writing here which gives you enough to stay invested and rooting for the characters, each of who are played by talented actors. It's a slow burn but it never crescendoes into what you would expect (adding to the fun), but Parineeti Chopra and Arjun Kapoor put up a show that can very well be termed a holy homecoming. Watch it.
Dibakar Banerjee is a director I admire a lot. He's made Bollywood films that are out of the ordinary and it's sad that he doesn't get enough appreciation for his work. His latest, Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar is a prime example of that.
Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar follows Sandeep, a successful banker, and Pinky, a suspended cop, as they abscond after being marked for a kill.
I was excited for this film for many years but the constant delays and lack of updates got me worried. It seemed like YRF completely forgot about this film and released it during the worst possible time with little to no promotion. I also remember the onslaught of hatred towards the film just because of the two lead actors. However, this is a film I think people should give a chance and hopefully it gains more popularity in due time.
From the opening scene alone, Dibakar Banerjee shows his strengths as director with a beautifully executed one take sequence that lets us in on the film's themes and intrigues us with its lack of context. From then on, we get an interesting study into gender and in particular, masculinity. This is evidently show by the choice to switch the names Sandeep and Pinky with its opposing gender. We learn the mindset of several characters and what they believe men or women can do. Dibakar Banerjee and Varun Grover take us through certain stereotypes both genders have and how Sandeep and Pinky are an exception. Parineeti Chopra and Arjun Kapoor are two performers that haven't shown their true skills as actors but Banerjee brings out so much from both of them that they actually turn in their best performances possibly. This clearly shows how an actor can act to the best of their ability with the right director and script. Raghubir Yadav, Neena Gupta and Jaideep Ahlawat are also great in their roles. I do wish the pacing was faster since the film moves relatively slow.
It's unfortunate how poorly marketed Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar was. Parineeti Chopra and Arjun Kapoor put forth some of their best work here and Dibakar Banerjee conveys to us how talented of a director he is once again. Films like these need to be supported and I hope more people discover it and give it a watch.
