The game features well known killers and survivors like Michael Myers and Laurie Strode from Halloween, Freddy Krueger and Quentin Smith from the A Nightmare on Elm Street remake, Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, William 'Bill' Overbeck from Left 4 Dead, Ashley J. Williams from Ash vs The Evil Dead, who is also voiced by actor Bruce Campbell, Steve Harrington, Nancy Wheeler and The Demogorgon from Stranger Things, an original spin on the character of Ghostface, and Cheryl Mason and the Executioner (Pyramid Head) from the Silent Hill franchise.
When development of this game started the devs were using the unity game engine, but later switched to unreal engine 4.
Originally in early alpha, survivors would have access to weapons to hinder the killer but was scrapped for unknown reasons other then the most likely reason which is balancing
The Nightmare's (Freddy Krueger) mori animation is a reference to the execution of the character Jesse from the film A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010), where this particular version of Freddy originates. Similarly, Ghost Face's animation after a successful attack is a knife wipe very similar to one done by the same character in the movie Scream (1996), and the Final Judgment attack by The Executioner (Pyramid Head) is very similar to an over-the-head attack he does in his first boss fight in the game Silent Hill 2 (2001).
