We've all seen shows like this. Real ghost stories with crappy dramatizations, bad acting, bad effects. This one is different.
I feel like this mini series finally delivered the "true horror stories told by real people" in the way we've always wanted them delivered.
Give it a chance.

I'm a fan of A Haunting and Paranormal Witness, so I was glad to find this series on a cold winter night. It's short and there might never be a season 2, but it has some good storytelling and jump scares. The "true story" thing should be taken with a grain of salt. Don't take it too seriously, but the scenery/ sets are quite good.

I found this series on the Shudder streaming app, because I was interested in watching the new Creepshow series. I figure it doesn't make much sense to pay every month for just one show, so I tried really hard to find other movies and shows that I would like to watch with my girlfriend, but nope. This show was pure mediocre bs. It's no different than Ghost Hunters or all the other fake spooky tv shows in America, but just with British accents. I have no clue where to find real life horror stories, but if you want true stories presented in a similar fashion, then you might like a show called " I shouldn't be alive". It has no paranormal elements, but it is scary, and it is true events from the people.

I loved this! I didn't find it boring at all, I love all ghost stories, whether you want to believe the stories are true or not, it was definitely entertaining. I hope another series is made.
This is just a barely watchable "A Haunting" but on UK housing estates.
If you want cheesy made up stories that are supposed to be based on real events, just watch A Haunting, as it is slightly less boring than this waste of time.

I hate how many 1 star reviews, I mean why. This is a programe which describes the very fear that different family's felt, and beautifully dramatised, to capture the fear and chill our very bones.

Sure it was all very frightening for the people concerned but I quickly got frustrated with almost totally black screens interspersed with loud bangs and creaking noises. Difficult to see anything at all.

I'm a big horror fan and love watching real-live testimonies from people . I tried out the show "Haunted" and it was so painfully scripted . The dramatizations were cheap , the stories were unrealistic with massive plot holes , and it was so painfully obvious that these people giving "testimonies" were actors . True Horror however , is exactly what I sought out in Haunted . You can tell these people are speaking off the dome from real life experiences and the actors for the dramatizations are great too. Got chills from many of the episodes . Great show !

All actors and those being interviewed were extremely wooden and speaking slowly as if to explain to children. This is not scary unless you're scared by simple boring jump scares and the mere thought of the occult and ghosts.
Wasn't my cup of tea at all...

I really love a good ghost story. I can honestly say there was at least one spot in each episode that had me freaked out enough to yelp. I love stories like The Woman in Black, The Turn of the Screw, etc...so a bit of a slow-burn doesn't bother me at all. If you're looking for action, this isn't it. If you're looking for a good ghost story, here are several of them :)
Anybody gullible enough to believe these tales needs therapy. The whole thing seems made up and any connection to supposed actual events are greatly over done.
My favourite was definitely Hell Fire Farm but the others were as good. Thoroughly enjoyed this series and really hope they make another
This show has some nerve to call itself "True Horror" and then feature some of the fakest, cheesiest, most embarrassing stories I've ever seen. The re-enactments are fine, but when your source material is fake trash, there is only so much you can do.

The first installment (farm) was very enjoyable and well presented, found it quite unnerving. A few jump scares and a spooky atmosphere. Well worth a watch.
Second installment was garbage. (in the wall) unbelievable story, lousy acting far fetched waste of time.
Best for last...
The final installment was excellent. Right from the start you feel unnerved, very scary/spooky story. Acting is good and finished off the series well.
A must for horror fans.

Many of us who have viewed series have had exposure to similar fare. These first person accounts have been amongst us for quite some time now ; many of them originating in Canada. This one is a bit different in that it originates mostly in the UK (England and Wales). This is definitely a cut above a lot of what you see out there, within this genre, both past and present: Very good production values; believable and insightful performances; intelligent direction and script. Authentic and heartfelt testimonials from the people who experienced these strange goings-on. Genuinely creepy and atmospheric. A worthwhile watch.

Surprisingly well made and expertly crafted. Unlike much of the typical American fare, it avoids shaky cameras and repetitive dialogue, focusing instead on a well-structured narrative. The acting is top-notch, featuring some well-known British actors, and is complemented by witness testimonies. A few of the stories genuinely gave me goosebumps. This is a solid series, made even more unsettling by its basis in true events, delivered with a sense of respect and realism-refreshingly free of the over-the-top hype and cheesy nonsense that often dominates television. I recognised quite a few famous faces from Benidorm, Eastenders etc.
