Mary (Caroline Dhavernas) is a surgeon who has a sideline providing voluntary euthanasia services to terminally ill patients. She tries to keep her partner in this business, Des (Richard Short), out of as much trouble as he inflicts upon her.
A judge, upset by the assisted suicide of his terminally ill son, pushes the police to prioritise investigation of Mary. But one of the lead detectives, Ben (Jay Ryan), starts to fall in love with her.
