Terrible

Do not waste your time with this one, it had the basis of a good plot at the very start, then goes quickly downhill.Acting is terrible, the film is terrible and the ending will leave you wondering why you sat through it.There are far better horror selections out there, this has nothing you've not seen a million times before, i suggest you keep looking.

Just terrible

The first 10 minutes set up the back story and then we get nearly an hour of nothing. I was going to say nearly an hour of character development but its not, just teenage girls chatting drivel for over 50 minutes. Finally we get to the horror that the trailer showed us. Sadly its brief, ripped from other movies & you don't care what happens to the characters. Go watch something else.

Just NO!

Industrial waste. Boring, the story has no meaning, the script is poorly written and the "actors" are simple amateurs. 👎

Don't do it

It's bad. That's it. Bad. Every horror trope put into one film, just cut and paste horror movies together and you have The Hatred. The dialogue is fake and inorganic. The plot so basic, it's like somebody played nazi zombies and was like let's do that but ghosts. Maybe it could have been better without the nazi parts. Maybe not. The world will never know.

The more you watch, the dumber you get

I would give this a negative number score if I could. I gave it a one star ONLY because the trailer for it intrigued my balls off. Other than that it was a total festival of suck. The beggining alone made me think I was watching the wrong damn movie. The set up was too long, too boring and by the time it was getting "scary" the movie was almost over, my god, kill me now it was dumbbbbbb. Don't waste your time.

Yet another low budget horror atrocity

Terrible acting

Looked forward to this for so long, as with most "horror" films the trailer made this flop look worth the time I lost watching it. Zero atmosphere just a bunch of girls in a house face a rubber monster and an apparent ghost which looks like a very poorly painted mask. My advice.... go wash your floor with a tooth brush or cut your lawn with a pair of scissors, it'll be a more interesting use of your time.

2/10 for first 20 minutes

Not bad at first, and very lousy at second half (its about hour when 40 minutes totally waste of time), then BOOM - we have tons of copy-paste horror scenes from other movies and shorts like "The Grudge", and that famous short with doppelganger (I think based on one-sentence horror- story) and many others. I don't't know what a next level laziness is this, but it looks like plagiarism. In camera department and sound - its okay, but... well, its not good movie at all.

Avoid this cinematic disaster!

Five words: The trailer is completely misleading! This movie is just plain awful! From the moment it started, I had no idea what was going on. When I thought it was finally getting good, it started going downhill. The acting is HORRIBLE and it's your typical college graduate trope. Please do not waste your time with this movie!

Worst horror film I have ever watched

I am a huge fan of the horror genre and many films disappoint .... But this one ... this is just atrocious. I literally thought I'm watching a really bad parody of a horror movie made by some untalented film students that didn't graduate yet ... what on earth ... how could this trash be on Netflix ? Literally anyone could direct, act and produce better than this film. I did not believe in any Actors ... the whole film was just a joke.

I have alot of hatred for this movie......

Not just for the plot or the acting. But I just generally dislike it as a film. It feels like they lacked the effort to make this. There is nothing scary about the movie apart from the acting and the characters make the worst decision possible. Really this is bad but not even in a good way. The only good part is the main villains acting.

F'ing Awful!!!!

This motion picture atrocity did do one thing very well. It made me and the small group of people I watched it with, LAUGH. We re-watched scenes several times with genuine confusion as to how that particular scene made it through the editing process, which brings me to my next point. Was there an editing process for this movie? The Director for this waste of film is described as "an award winning writer/director". They must be referring to an award unrelated to film. Class Clown in Middle School? Or maybe voted Most Likely to direct a shitty horror movie someday? While scratching my head I did 23 seconds worth of research and found that he has directed NOTHING you or I have ever seen or would want to see. It's dumpster fire after dumpster fire on his IMDb list. This particular movie made me wonder, out loud, How the F$@# does a professional in this industry watch the final cut of this movie and think to himself, "BINGO!" If I am involved, in any way, with the making of this turd, I would be ashamed and utterly embarrassed. Next...this may be harsh but let's just keep this honest. I assume the little girl in the movie is related to a producer or someone that wrote the tiny check that must have been needed to make this bucket of vomit bc her acting skills are non-existing and sorry she's like nails on a chalk board. Same goes for the 4 older girls in the film. They all suck. Which is Ironic because that's probably how they got the gig. Our original hypothesis was that they were all 4 trying to move away from the porn industry. To say their acting skills were on par with that of adult film stars would be an insult to said Porn Stars. I saw the estimated budget was $800k...thats how much the set must have cost bc if anyone in that movie got paid to "act", someone had their pants pulled down. Please if you were involved in making this movie, quit the business immediately. You are wasting valuable days not doing something you could be good at while simultaneously destroying someone's hopes of watching a good horror movie. I almost gave it a 2 out of pity but I just can't lie about something this important.

Ok B-horror movie

In the intro credits we learn that after WWII, Nazis escaped to other countries, some even to the US.

Next we meet one such Nazi living out in the American country with his wife and daughter while he spends his time fumigating the crops. The teenage daughter is home-schooled and isn't allowed to go anywhere or do anything because the father is strict and things there's just evil out there in the world. He also keeps in touch with some other Nazi who sends him memorabilia. One day he gets an iron cross which was dear to Hitler and he stashes it with some more stuff he's got in a walled-in room. When the daughter gets rebellious he drowns her by accident. The mother doesn't take it too well. This intro lasts a long 22 minutes.

Now, in the present, we meet some 4 girls who make a trip to the family house out in the country, yup the same house from the intro. They also have to watch a little girl who lives there while everyone else is gone. For some reason there's some locked room in the house with old clothes. During a picnic one girl wanders off to the barn and is attacked by something that's trying to drown her. The little girls starts mentioning someone named Alice. While playing hide-and-seek two of the discovers discover the Nazi stuff including he iron cross. The girls start investigating and find out everything about the family living there years ago, about the girl who died--Alice, about the iron cross. By now Alice's ghost start appearing through the little girl that is sleeping. And the ghost is angry. So the girls will have to confront it.

The Hatred is better than there score here would lead you to believe. Sure, it's a B-horror movie with some acting, direction, and editing issues here and there. But the fundamentals for a good horror movie are there. Production is solid and the story offers a combination of elements that we've seen before. The victim's ghost who wants to be discovered, the item that stores hatred, the mission of having to face one's fears. That said that none of these receive enough focus, rather they are just excuses to move things along. This business with the iron cross is left entirely hanging in the air for no good reason. It's mostly a movie without any males in it as is standard these days in Hollywood. The girls do a good job for the most part, but they're not allowed to do much really. Cast and characters are rather non-descript. Bayley Corman is lovely though. The creature is well-made and creepy. I was going to say that horror works best rated R and that it's more difficult to make PG-13 horror. But then The Hatred has been rated R for no reason I can discern. It's actually a very mild PG-13 I would say.

Sure The Hatred can get a bit boring, but it's still a movie worth watching mostly for the potential that wasn't realized entirely.

Not even worth a REDBOX rental

Movies like this are the reason I don't , as a rule, let NETFLIX or REDBOX pick my next movie choice. Just awful. The "acting," the pacing, the tired plot, the horrible production. Andrew Divoff (barely) saved it from being a total 0-star movie. Avoid it. You know it's a bad movie, when you scream at the screen, "OMG, kill the little girl, already!" I did. Repeatedly. Not because it was a valid way to destroy the evil, but because she was SO annoying. I've seen high school plays with better performances.

Just don't.

The time you took to read this is less than a waste of time than watching the movie. You can do better than this movie. Just continue to scroll pass even if Netflix keeps trying to reccomend it. I wish I did. Save yourself. It's too late for me.
