As long as Glow goes on, so will the flame - er, highlighter pink neon lighting - of '80s nostalgia. Inspired by an actual women's wrestling show in the '80s, Netflix's dramedy series Glow has received high praise for its powerhouse female cast (plus Marc Maron). In season two, we meet the newest Gorgeous Lady of Wrestling: Yolanda (or Yo Yo), a fearlessly out lesbian Mexican-American stripper and dancer. Portraying her is Shakira Barrera, who joins the likes of Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin, and Britney Young with fierce makeup and yes, a perm.

In one of the latest Glow promotions, Yolanda throws a zinger at Alison Brie's character, Ruth, by saying, "Your job is doing G-rated girl-on-girl in a one piece. Ok? You're not far from that life." Ruth replies that she's not a stripper, to which Yolanda shoots back, "Oh, neither am I."

Saban Films has picked up North American rights to The Escape of Prisoner 614, the upcoming crime thriller starring Ron Perlman (Hellboy) and Martin Starr (Knocked Up).

The film – in which two naïve recently-fired sheriff’s deputies go after an escaped convict in the hope of getting their jobs back, only to find he’s innocent – is the feature-length debut of writer/director Zach Golden. Jordan Yale Levine (King Cobra, Shotgun), Jordan Beckerman (Shotgun, Green Dolphin) and Shaun Sanghani (Blood Heist, The Pretenders) produce.

21st edition of Montreal genre festival to also screen Atomic Blonde, Good Time and world premiere of 4K restoration of Suspiria.

Fantasia International Film Festival has unveiled its full programme for its 21st edition, which runs from July 13-August 2 in Montreal.

This year’s edition will close with the international premiere of South Korean historical drama A Taxi Driver, starring Snowpiercer’s Song Kang-ho, with director Jang Hoon in attendance.

Fantasia will also host the North American premiere of Cannes Competition title Good Time, starring Robert Pattinson, and a special screening of David Leitch’s Atomic Blonde with Charlize Theron in the festival’s Action! section.

Its Action! section will also feature two films starring Scott Adkins - Boyka: Undisputed and Savage Dog - who will be in attendance at this year’s festival, as well as the North American premiere of the restored 3D version of James Cameron’s classic Terminator 2: Judgment Day. For the first...
