Just as their musical star begins to rise, the Plateaus unexpectedly lose their lead singer to a tragic accident during a band practice. Morgan, Tryke, and Davian - the remaining band members - are left to their own clueless devices to carry on without him. Quirky, funny, and well written...plus the music is catchy

Randomly found this after watching Schitts Creek (which also stars Annie Murphy, she's very good in both).

The Plateaus follows a highly dysfunctional band that blows over night due to the talent of it's lead singer.

To avoid any spoilers I'll just say a career/life altering occurrence takes place in the first episode that drastically changes the bands trajectory.

The show is really well written, and the characters though completely ridiculous and over the top, are fun to watch, and cheer for (or against). I found myself laughing out loud several times at the ironic situational humor and slapstick comedy elements.

One final note, the music throughout the series is really quite good, and very catchy. Would definitely recommend watching this series with a friend so you can laugh together.
