Not much nuance to the plot, and a pretty basic execution, but it was still an enjoyable diversion if you like underdog movies. The characters were likable, and the ending sufficiently satisfying. Again, no cinematic masterpiece, but a simple, fun movie.

In "Bully", a punk and his gang enjoy making life miserable for the weaker kids...in particularly, the pudgy and out of shape Jimmy. However, it goes way beyond this...the bully is also trying to extort money. Either Jimmy pays, or he gets beaten.
After one nasty encounter with the bully, an older man, 'Action' Jackson* (Ron Canada) sees Jimmy getting his butt whipped. In response, he offers to introduce him to Manny (Danny Trejo)...a guy who runs a boxing gym. Now, perhaps, Jimmy will feel confident and be able to stand up for himself.
While I enjoyed seeing this film (hey, who doesn't mind seeing bullies get their butts kicked?), the film seems to downplay or ignore one major issue....this IS criminal behavior. The bully is trying to extort money from Jimmy and I am surprised no one called the cops because of this. You can (and should) get jail time for this.
This film far better than a lot of the reviews I read.....were we watching the same film? The acting wasn't bad...and Trejo and Canada were great. There is a lot of cursing, while might bother some parents, but I actually think it's a pretty good film for teens.
*This name might sound familiar...it's the title of a 1988 action film starring Carl Weathers.

From the title itself, you have to know that it's about bullies...well, you are right....LOL
back to the review, the story was simple, the acting was alright, Danny Trejo and Ron Canada joking is what made me laugh in this movie....
if you just want to relax., this is a good movie to watch.
7/10 for me...
story is simple, the acting was average and I like how the movie ended....it's good to see that Jimmy has "diverse" friends....

Simple B film made for young teens who are not very experienced or evolved. If you want to not think, suspend reality, and like to see the little guy get his due then it's a fun little film. I watched it when I wasn't looking for something not to heavy and I enjoyed it. But don't have any expectations.

It was a nice family type movie my only problem is it is not realistic as in most bullying cases.. other kids don't look out for the bully in fear that they will be shunned.
Most bullying movies are like this but in actuality the person being bullied does not have the support of other students.
Some light comedy and a few surprise actors brought the grade up

This is a fun, feel-good film with likeable characters, just a few laughs, and an upbeat happy ending. It's about as far from a masterpiece of film making as one can get, but it has a lot of heart and it had me smiling throughout. As someone who watches a ton of films and severely dislikes most of them (just look at my ratings), this was a very pleasant surprise.

Its a well used idea, with some well used over the top actors, who draws the line for this treat and retreat film about a bukkied teenagers venge to revenge.
its an awful mess of filmaking, they should have made some more takes here and there, just to remove the soundboom shadows here and there, so if your in for silver screen magic than make a halt, its not that. but the bullied wins this test, and as a comedy it will at least feed the tase of somebody out there. the grumpy old man have seen a lot better than this, but the archetype caracters , saves the grace.

The boxing is bad, the writing is bad, the acting is bad, the cinematography is bad, everything about this is really bad. It's like they tried to find every cliche possible and shove it into the movie. The plot was dumb, especially when they tried to tie in this ridiculous "bullying is plaguing America's schools" nonsense. Anything this movie tried to do failed. As someone who has real experience in high school, being bullied, and boxing, this movie could not be any more awkward and unrealistic. It's ironic that it's listed as a comedy, because it genuinely felt like a so bad it's good film, in a laughably bad way.

A B grade film that delivered for me. If you are a movie snob planning to spend the entire time analyzing all technical aspects of a movie, this is not the movie for you. It's not a documentary or reality movie, there are fictional things...things that may not be likely to actually happen in real life. Some movies are designed to suspend reality, not be it. Reality is often not funny, and in many cases, not entertaining to me. Life is already too serious.
The reality aspects of this movie arent funny. The only people who scoff and say bullying is all part of growing up have never been tormented by a serious bully...or I should say, "criminal"...because the things bullies do are illegal in adult life...and should be illegal in teen life because these people virtually ruin some kid's teenage years, physically assault kids, and extort them. Bullies, as with other criminals dont stop being so at age 18, they tend to go on to become horrible adults. And because they are allowed to get away with their criminal behavior, they are emboldened, often coddled by a system that ignores their victims.
I'm still young at heart enough to relate to the adolescence, high school life and coming to age feel of a movie like this, and also deal with the stuff that makes this movie rated age 18+ (I still haven't figured out why specifically that rating). This may not be a blockbuster but it held my attention to the end, something I cant say about many other much higher rated movies.

I really enjoyed this new-age after-school special.
There were no award-winning performances, and the timing was a little forced, but overall, it worked.
The intentionally awkward scenes were done properly and kept me engaged.
The teen facial expressions were on-point.
This movie did not require me to commit to anything, and was very predictable, but that was part of its charm.

Acting is terrible. Lines over delivered, and forced. How did Trejo end up in this loser? He must have thought it was a feel good, message, movie. Or he needed some money, by doing this low budget, single camera movie.
Ok 1st things 1st whoever classified this as a comedy it certainly isn't it's a movie about a kid who's bullied and learns to defend himself it's got danny Trejo so what's not to like?

I thought this movie was great. Not the best acting or anything, but if you want to watch a great feel good movie it 's well worth it.
We don't see everything, like Billy runs one time, but you get the sense that he is doing it every day.
I loved the part where after the first day at the gym he can hardly walk. Anyone who has started working out for the first time and over did it can relate. Boy get's bullied, boy meets gentleman who helps him out and introduces him to a boxing gym, boy learns how to defend himself, boy beat bully and get an unlikely girl.
I liked it.

I hate bullies and Trolls. I like who get picked on and gets revenge on bullies, big time! It's a good movie and I don't care if acting good or bad, as long is good to the end. Great 🎥

Holy moly - how good was this film? It's rare that after nearly half a century I'm actually blown away with something I've watched. In a world populated by superheroes fighting faceless computer-generated armies up against the backdrop of a giant skybeam, a film like this somehow has more heart (and hope!) for the human race than every caped crusader ever to hit the silver screen.
As the title suggests, this film is about a 'bully' (actually, more a trio of bullies, but we'll forgive the titular inaccuracy), or - more importantly - the victim of one. A young, overweight schoolboy with wavy ginger hair finds himself a target for a particularly nasty classmate. After taking a beating in the street, our portly protagonist is saved by a man who offers to help him learn to defend himself. What follows is his journey as he becomes a boxer - or rather learns enough moves to dodge and throw a punch (which comes in handy when in the school grounds!).
There's very little that I can say is negative about this film. What I really enjoyed was how 'natural' all the characters were. It would be easy to take the easy - dramatic - decisions in terms of where the plot went, but nothing is exaggerated in terms of story and how characters react. Every time I thought something stupid was going to happen, something completely normal and relatable took place. I'm sure while I was watching I spotted a few minor gripes, but this is a case where there is so much that's right, whatever small downsides pale in comparison. I guess the bullies themselves are not very three dimensional - they're effectively the same stereotypical bullies you've seen in every other movie. Plus the gay characters are a little cliched, but at least they get a small amount of character growth where you'll enjoy cheering their input on towards the end.
This is one of the most simple little films every made recently. That's not a downside, as it's actually pretty much as perfect as any film can be. Watch it when you need a dose of watching good claw its way to defeating evil.

This was a good movie for what it was. Definately a "B" movie as only Danny Trejo was the most well known actor, but the other actors/actresses have been seen in other movies/TV shows in small parts. It is good to see them getting leads. I think these actors will go far. Good story and super predictable, but over all great.

This is a good clean movie. Not hollywoodized, glamorous, nor special effects filled, but good clean fun and predicable in a good way. I only wish I'd seen it sooner. If you don't find it entertaining, sorry but you're probably desensitized and are beyond help. Get some.

When Tom Laughlin starred as "Billy Jack" I loved it. I mean, one of the surfers from "Gidget" turns out to be a martial arts badass and beats the crap out of a bunch of bigots. Now, when I grew up and developed more discerning taste, it became clear that "Billy Jack" was a truly bad movie.
This movie is not that bad. It's pretty basic, bully picks on fat kid. Fat kid has a few loyal friends, who can't help, much as they'd love to. A retired boxer takes him under his wing and trains him, all the while teaching him important life lessons. "Just cause you can fight, don't look for trouble. Trouble will find you." I mean, brilliant words of wisdom!
Is this movie a waste of time? Hell, no. I wouldn't pop popcorn and invite everyone over to see it together. But, it is an easy plot to follow while I clean and polish stuff. The kid being bullied has some charm and does a good job making you care what happens to him. It's a nice change that the kid has supportive parents.
I'm pretty sure this got a restricted rating because of some "mfers" tossed around. Any kid who has ridden a school bus has heard that and worse.
