What a load of tripe, while the main actors seem to know what they were doing; the rest of the crew looked like they were reading from a teleprompter, and badly at that.

Sometimes these also ran productions are just bad. Using retold stories that were not that interesting the first time around.

Save yourself some time and give this one a miss.

Waited a long time to finally check this out only to be disappointed. Still hard to take Lance Gross seriously as a gangster. He has too much of a nice guy vibe from his House of Payne days and whipped husband he played in Tyler Perry's Temptation flick.

This story simply made no sense from start to finish, and especially the ending. It was pretty bad. Don't waste an hour and a half on this one. You've been warned.

As much as I want to support this movie I simply cannot.. I read the books. This movie could've had so much potential!!! The acting was beyond low-budget. I know the production company didn't have Hollywood dollars but geesh they had enough to pay Lance!!

The story doesn't even begin to describe Dutch.. I wonder if they involved the author in this script. I won't say don't watch at all but I will say watch at your own risk of boredom and falling asleep!!!

If you won't commit to making these great book series worth watching LEAVE THEM ALONE!!! I would rather remember the story and visualize the words than see it put on screen half-a****

An action drama without none action but only nosense drama!

If you wanna to watch prepare your fingers to skeep.

This allegedly takes place in New Jersey yet in the scene where they steal the bmws there are palm trees in the background. Huh?

Got the makings of Belly. Better story, better acting, better twists, better climax. Don't let nobody sway you with a skewed misrepresented biased reviews. Everything isn't for everyone. 😉 FUBU.

Start with a decent premise and good looking cast but the devil is in the details. Wardrobe and sets were college level. His beginnings as a car thief could have played into the finale. The sexual tension between Dutch and his lawyer was without purpose. The cars were nice but why the choices? Everything was underdeveloped more time on development and research could have made stars of the leads.

Don't be fooled, this was a good movie!!! And if you read the book, it would make more sense. Judge it for yourself, no where near as bad as they're rating it.

I think the rating of 3.7 gives no sense at all, and that number smells more than negative reviews, because this was acceptable very viewable blacl american/italian mafia crime movie. By all means its not Denzel nor wll smith in the lead, and its far away from scarface and the godfather 123, but as a good and gracious stepson of them all its ready for more acclaim from the grumpy old man if the next sequels have the same calibre of swift and shock and awe executions.

The story though are pretty generic though, and the sound of the tradewinds of r&b and hiphop do stamp this as a black american product. Some of the cast doesnt leverage to the toplevel on some of the acting crew, and to muster about the technical side of the production, the use of light or overlight with ditto unecesarry horizontal wall shadows that trolls me all through the film is pretty amateuristic, and should be considered in the forthcoming productions.

The screenplay has some moments of time consuming svada inbetween that couldve been used to build the caracters but it doesnt.

Its like listening to a congressional debate about how much american federal wild-firefighters( officially called forestry technicians just to make their salary stay down in the basement while the firefighters of more state and private sources fights the fire in the presidential suite at a wage trippling the real guardians of the woods and wildland health and welfare) in the federal agencies should earn before slain by a widowmaker, but this was a digression, sorry...

well its a decent crime drama, so sit down and watch it, i think it deserves better than my limited english vocabulary can grant. So a recommend from the grumpy old man.

The movie has seriously poor acting, but it has a good story. I watched to the end, but it was painful sometimes.

I had a hard time keeping focus on this one lol. The writing was not subtle at all and came off predictable, uninspired, and unoriginal. There was no genuine sense of suspense because all the details were being shown right to audience rather than allowing us to gain perspective through watching the narrative unfold. More episodic then cinematic, the ending in particular. The pacing and tone of the film wasn't handled quite that well. Acting from all involved is below average to barely solid. Though film looks/sounds to have been made from a competent technical crew it still doesn't feel like it was executed well. Music/score rouse no emotion and camerawork is just basic. Filmmaker attempted to make a stylish crime drama but turned in a rather mediocre addition to the genre.

The plot is basic, sometimes grotesque and some plot points and visuals decisions are empty of sense or direction.

This movie suffers of many mistakes in his "pre-production", the cast do his best to save their characters and they do it really well.

Special mention to Malcolm David Kelley, always looking natural and maybe still not aware about his excellents skills.

Extraordinary delightful to see a Black movie that depicts black gangsters in a social like setting with the mafia. The ending was a wow moment. Hopefully there will be a Dutch 2.

I saw reviews and thought to myself, it's a movie with people of color perhaps like most movies, skin color conscious nazis are at their forefront again to ridicule anything done with people of color.

Lord this crap pulls you in and then keep you thinking there is hope while it sinks, the moment you realise you're following the most ridiculous flick You have lost an entire hour which could have been done productively Like supporting BLACK LIVES MATTER.

Everything in this movie was just dull and gloomy the only person who made sense to me was the ADVOCATE His lines in court where really catchy.

This movie had me anxious trying to figure out if Dutch was going to be released from prison or not. I love the flashbacks the movie provided so we can get a better understanding of Dutch background and how he ended up in his predicament. The ending of the movie, was very unpredictable I was in awe. I hope they make a sequel because I would like to know where Dutch wind up.

And for Pete sale, stop putting that plank Jeremy Meeks in movies. He can't even play a dumb thug without screwing up. And I will apologize to Planks everywhere for associating you to that thrice starched Meeks.

I mean the movie sucked, but Jeremy made it so much worse. The boy is beyond pitiful.

Dutch is an alright movie. I kind of like it, I was just trying to figure out if it's based on this book by Terri Woods or not.

I really enjoyed the film, actors did a super fantastic job. It kept my interest and I think the story was great refreshing and superb. Giving this movie 3.7 is ridiculous and makes no sense. Give ita chance then you will see that it deserves a higher rating.
