I really am struggling to find the words to describe JUST how bad this movie is. Poor CGI. TERRIBLE acting. Obviously a rip off story... Poor narrative that doesn't come close to the original movie which wasn't exactly poetry in motion itself.
It's just impossible to understand why they can get away with pumping out this nonsense. Or how even struggling actors get involved in such nonsense.. although I guess sometimes you have to do what you have to do.... but oh dear god... the humiliation.... !!
Truly awful... avoid at all costs.
I didn't and now I have the scars to show for it.

Asylum production had their ridiculously untalented hands in this one, so there's really no need to review it at all, am I right? They should never be allowed to make films, and the whole world knows it. How they get any funding is beyond me. Everything they have ever touched has turned to junk. Just a travesty of a movie making entity, they are. Sadly, this movie didn't have a chance. It was a piece of crap the very second it was in the hands of Asylum. They routinely cast people right off the street, wardrobe is always just plain tragic, special effects....I can't even call them special effects....just no. Someone needs to put an end to Asylum....soon.
This is awful was on for a full 15 minutes and about 10 of them was spent with me looking for my laptop to rates this 1 though it does not deserve one.
The Asylum keep making these awful movies. If this was a spoof version of Independence Day it would probably be worth a watch.
However its just a cheap imitation with basic CGI that looks as bad as the acting.
Even SyFy Channel don't do things this bad.
I should know by now anything attached to the Asylum needs to be binned without viewing.

First, do not mistake this for the 2016 sequel to the original Independence Day. "Independents' Day" (the cheeky title alone deserves an extra point) is made by The Asylum, a company which specializes in grabbing as many sales as it can from people mistaking their productions for upcoming blockbusters, or from people such as myself who don't mind watching these things occasionally as a change from all the over-hyped, big-budget productions about. Production values are very much in dollars rather than billions of dollars. However, that doesn't mean the result is necessarily bad.
The actors take their roles seriously, albeit they're not exactly A-list, being either complete unknowns or daytime soap extras. Occasionally The Asylum do pull in a recognizable face, but there's none in this film.
The special effects are actually not bad - better than many TV productions I've seen, and the story-line is quite imaginative, although the screenplay lets things down a bit. That's a shame, as with a bit more attention to the latter the whole production could be raised a notch or two.
In this film, some large(ish) spaceships arrive on earth and instead of immediately destroying everything offer to relocate earth's population to avoid a costly battle, even offering rewards in the form of cures for various diseases if humankind cooperates. The female vice-president of America finds it's up to her to work out what's really going on and find a way to prevent the aliens' from taking possession the planet.
I definitely wouldn't recommend wasting $10 on this - wait a couple of months until it appears in the $1 bin. It's good to pass a bored 1½ hours when there's nothing else to do, or save it for a day when your in bed with chickenpox. Also, as another reviewer has pointed out, The Asylum productions are blissfully free from the expletives and sexism that appear in almost everything these days, for which I'm truly grateful.

Not since the accidental filming of my great grandmother's vaginal cyst explosion has anything SO exciting hit the big screen! I was riveted to my seat. (No, I really was; my wife has a new rivet gun and she was experimenting). The special effects are better than anything ever to come out of Ms. Cosgrove's 2nd grade film-making class at Goobersville Elementary! And the acting! Where shall I begin? Imagine Gomer Pyle playing the lead in, "My Life as a Woe-man; the Story of Bruce Genderless." I see Academy Awards all over the place!! (NOT for this movie, but...nonetheless...) Download this movie...seriously...what have you got to lose? (Think about that...very carefully)

I shall be brief! This has to be one of the worst, if not the worst, film I have seen! The acting is........well I am giving it a complement by crediting it as acting.....terrible! Where do these 'actors' come from? The script is pretty dire which doesn't help the actor's cause, but even so the finished product must have had the "ok we've got a shot there" by someone! I just wonder how many 'takes' it took to get something so bad! It might be quite amusing actually to see a DVD of the 'out-takes'. A complete waste of time! Do not even think that it is the sequel to Independence Day, it is nowhere near the quality of that movie. Awful! Awful! Awful!

All the poor reviews for this film surprised me when I first read them. I seen this movie at my local Walmart for 10 bucks.Being a huge Independence Day fan and B movie fan I grabbed it. I had 0 hopes of it being any good due to it being produced by The Asylum but it IS a great B movie. The special effects are really good and the story is quite engaging. The acting is as good as you can expect for this kind of film buy better than most I have seen. If you dig B movie ScFi flicks and love the alien invasion idea you will enjoy this movie. I gave it 5 out of ten and for a B flick that's pretty good. You won't be disappointed. I felt like the story could have been an interesting idea if the right studio had gotten it besides the Asylum but still it's probably their best produced film that I have seen. The ships and the aliens look great and the space battles are cool as heck. Very good alien B movie. Check it out.

It's not great but its not terrible either. It is watchable especially if you have had a few beers and dummed yourself down a bit. I actually thought the effects were very impressive for such a low budget movie. However the script needed to be tighter and the acting a bit better for some of the actors. Generally I enjoyed it I have to say. Always feels like they are close to making a much better movie if it was edited a bit better and the script was proof-read a bit more. It just has a feeling like they were quite close to making a competent movie but just failed short in a few places but for me the effects were fit for purpose.
Potentially the worst movie since fatal deviation. Not connected in any way to the original. I watched this on a plane while killing time and twice thought of parachuting to safety. Showing this movie to ISIS would end the war in the middle east immediately. Acting and plot are amongst the worst you will see with by far the best performance being put in by the extras who can be seen laughing to themselves in many scenes, which almost had the effect of convincing me that this might be some kind of spoof but alas that was not to be. This one is strictly for BitTorrent as to reward this type of effort would make us as bad as the North Koreans.

I am still thrilled to see people *** their pants to scream out loud, how bad a movie this and that was. Guys, wake up. Its Asylum time. $500k spent and such a movie created. The moment the first alien ships appeared, I yelled, hey, Michael Bay should beg for the receipts! One of the best CGI I have seen in an Asylum production. The story-line is quite easy to guess -all have seen the zillion dollar counterpart- the acting is OK, the VP turned POTUS was a surprise for me, she was a decent representative of a politician in hard times. So if you can forget its a mock-buster, maybe you will even enjoy it. If you are a fan for trash movies, just like me, you will definitely enjoy it.

I watched this for free on TV thinking it was a comedy parody, but it turns out that it is merely a mock buster, meaning that it has a similar name and a similar plot to Independence Day. Comparing the two movies, I found that this movie had a more realistic plot, with things simply making sense. The ending wasn't quite as exciting as in Independence Day, but it was still decent, combining politics with military in the face of an alien invasion in a beautiful way. Criticising the special effects is a bit cruel, as it only had a $500,000 budget and I think it did pretty well in the circumstances. Not too bad for a movie I watched for free on TV. Definitely a B movie though but not the worst one out there.

This movie is just too awful (even for a B-rated or spoof movie) - and trust me I have watched a few), whoever wrote and directed this movie should be banded from ever producing movies. What the other reviewer have stated about the movie is "Spot on" - (stay away for this one), I wished I had seen the reviews before I watched it (what a completed wasted 1.5hrs).
Note - there is now way this even be classed as a mock film about the "Independence Day" film (Yikes).
Story line = 0 Acting = -1 Overall rating for this move = 0 or -1
This is easily the worst movie I have every watched (and that is even putting it lightly).

This movie is a total ripoff. Someone should sue them and all monies should be refunded. The dialog is the worst I have ever seen. The cinematography is terrible - I think a home movie camera would have done a better job, the story line is beyond bad - it reminds me of a 1960's era scifi movie - not much beyond Godzilla. I really hope that the producer, director, production company and even the actors have NO career going forward, as this movie is just a scam playing a an earlier movie with a similar title. It would be hard to "spoil" this one, as there really is no viable plot and the entire movie is pretty much predicable. You've been warned!

Try to imagine the worst remake ever of Independence Day. Independence Day without the humour, without Will Smith and without Jeff Goldblum. The story is so thin that perhaps even adding some incredibly silly bends, for example a tornado or a shark, or a towering inferno would make this film a bit watchable. Anything but watching the boring cgi that is a poor ripoff of the original. I'll give it one point above awful for the fact that I watched it until the end. Is it really that hard to make some decent science fiction with a budget like this? Please start with a good story. Perhaps ask one of the critics on this film to write the next story, I'm sure any of you can do this better. Let them bin this, and try again.
