Apple TV+ creative executive and former Sony Pictures Television Studios co-president Chris Parnell is set to join New Paramount’s direct-to-consumer team led by Cindy Holland.

Parnell will serve as Paramount+ Originals executive vice president, where he will be responsible for the development and production of the platform’s original content slate.

He will report to the streamer’s head of originals, Jane Wiseman.

Exclusive: Paramount+’s Head of Originals Jane Wiseman has made her first move with a high-profile hire. She is bringing in Chris Parnell, most recently an Apple TV+ creative executive and previously co-president of Sony Pictures TV Studios, to her team at the streamer overseen by Cindy Holland, Paramount’s Chair of Direct-to-Consumer.

Parnell has been appointed as EVP for Paramount+ Originals, reporting to Wiseman, Deadline has learned. He will be responsible for the development and production of the platform’s slate of original content.

Morgan Wallen will not be submitting his music for consideration at the 2026 Grammy Awards, Wallen’s team confirms to The Hollywood Reporter, removing one of the biggest act in the business from contention.

Fox’s Tubi and Sony Pictures Entertainment in Canada have struck terms on a new film and TV content licensing agreement.

In a sign the Canadian free, ad-supported TV market continues to grow amid turbulence for the digital advertising business, the latest agreement will see around 130 movies and TV episodes from Sony Pictures’ programming vault head to Tubi north of the border.

That includes TV series like Timeless and Mr. Mercedes and movies that include the Jumanji franchise, The Da Vinci Code, Captain Phillips, The Other Guys, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and Resident Evil.

“We are thrilled that many of our beloved film and television titles will now be available to the Tubi audience in Canada,” said Stephanie Shinkoda, vp distribution and co-country manager of Sony Pictures Entertainment Canada, said in a statement on Wednesday.

Exclusive: Chad Rook has joined Netflix’s My Life with the Walter Boys as a recurring guest star for Season 3, Deadline has learned.

The actor will appear in at least four episodes of the third season, which begins filming in Calgary soon, Deadline understands. Details about his character are not yet available. Netflix declined to comment.

Abigail Spencer (Grey’s Anatomy, Rectify) will star opposite Josh Charles in the series, an adaptation of the long-running British dramedy Doc Martin. Spencer will play Louisa Glasson, a teacher in the small East Coast fishing village where Dr. Martin Best (Charles) relocates after leaving a decorated career as a surgeon in Boston.

Fox describes Best Medicine as an hour-long comedy following Martin, who abruptly leaves his post in Boston to work as a general practitioner in the town where he spent summers as a kid. “Unfortunately,” the show’s logline reads, “Martin’s blunt and borderline rude bedside manner rubs the quirky, needy locals the wrong way, especially local school teacher Louisa Glasson. However, tenacity is the creed of everyone in their small village, and the people who live there may be exactly what the doctor ordered.

Alex Ross offers his iconic pen to the X-Men franchise for new art pieces. Alex Ross has contributed his distinctive art style to both Marvel and DC Comics over the course of a nearly 40-year-long career in the industry. He is perhaps most commonly remembered for DC's Kingdom Come, but some of his best art was his hyperrealistic portraits of Marvel's heroes and villains.

Now, Alex Ross returns to Marvel for a series of Timeless variant covers to be released in September featuring several X-Men icons. Among those included in the series are Cloak and Dagger, Kitty Pryde with Lockheed, Professor "X" Charles Xavier, Dazzler, Havok, Rogue, Sebastian Shaw, Sunfire, and John "Thunderbird" Proudstar. The 2025 BET Awards were underway Monday in Los Angeles, celebrating Black excellence across music, TV, film and sports. Kevin Hart hosted the ceremony, which took place at the Peacock Theater downtown and celebrated its 25th year.

Kendrick Lamar had a leading 10 nominations coming into tonight, winning four of his categories, including Album of the Year, Best Male Hip Hop Artist and Video of the Year. Doechii, Drake, Future and GloRilla followed with six nominations apiece, while Metro Boomin had five and Sza and The Weeknd had four each. Doechii and GloRilla clinched their first-ever BET wins tonight.

It has been a long night at the 2025 BET Awards and now the full winners list has been revealed.

The show is still running after more than four and a half hours on Monday night (June 9) at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.

Not all of the awards have been announced during the televised ceremony, but the complete list of winners was just revealed online thanks to THR.

Mariah Carey, Jamie Foxx, Snoop Dogg, and Kirk Franklin were all honored with Ultimate Icon Awards during the show.

Kendrick Lamar was top winner at the 2025 BET Awards, held in Los Angeles Monday night.

The rapper took home the awards for album of the year for Gnx, best male hip-hop artist, video of the year for “Not Like Us” and best collaboration alongside Sza for “Luther.” Lamar also shared the award for video director of the year with his longtime creative partner Dave Free.

Sza and Chris Brown won best female and male R&b/pop artists, respectively. Doechii also won the award for best female hip-hop artist. During the latter’s acceptance speech, the rapper called out President Donald Trump for the “ruthless attacks that are creating fear and chaos in our communities in the name of law and order” amid protests against unlawful immigration raids in Los Angeles.

Other winners included Leon Thomas for best new artist, Denzel Washington for best actor and Cynthia Erivo for best actress.

On a night filled with laughter, heartfelt tributes, and electrifying performances, the 2025 BET Awards proved that honoring Black excellence transcends the trophies themselves.

Dubbed "Culture’s Biggest Night," the event offered a dazzling celebration of creativity and achievement. Rather than focusing on the presentation of awards, the nearly five-hour telecast prioritized entertainment, featuring a packed lineup of powerhouse performances, comedy, and emotional tributes. Highlighting the evening were special honors for the BET Ultimate Icon Award recipients: Mariah Carey, Jamie Foxx, Kirk Franklin, and Snoop Dogg. Their remarkable contributions to music, film, and culture took center stage in a show dedicated to legacy and artistry.

Host Kevin Hart kicked off the ceremony with a 10-minute monologue, poking fun at podcasts, stage names, and Kanye West. "He says he's out front and he's waiting for someone to invite him in," the comedian joked before warning the audience, "Don't do it! We all saw the movie Sinners.

Hosted by Kevin Hart, the BET Awards celebrated its 25th year on Monday with a three-hour ceremony honoring Black excellence in music, movies, sports and beyond.

Heading into Monday’s ceremony, Kendrick Lamar led the pack with 10 nominations, followed by Doechii, Drake, Future and GloRilla, each of whom netted six nominations.

Rekha’s timeless classic, Umrao Jaan, a period musical drama originally released in 1981, is set to return to theatres with a magnificent 4K restoration. Viewers will experience the gilded courtyards of 19th-century Lucknow alongside Rekha’s effortless charm and impeccable acting on the big screen once again.

The 4K of the film, produced by S.K. Jain & Sons and Integrated Films, was done by Nfdc—Nfai. The movie is helmed by visionary director Muzaffar Ali. It sees Rekha playing a courtesan-poetess in one of the finest performances in Indian cinema, which also earned her the coveted National Film Award for Best Actress.

When Is Umrao Jaan Re-Releasing In Theatres?

The 4K restored version of Rekha’s Umrao Jaan will be re-released in theatres on June 27, 2025. The move would allow the film to reclaim its place in the cultural imagination through an immersive big-screen revival.

The After Hours Til Dawn tour kicked off with a sold-out show on Friday night (May 9) at State Farm Stadium in Phoenix, Ariz.

Grammy-winning Florida rapper Doechii has landed her biggest feature yet: the remix for the Weeknd’s hit “Timeless,” featuring Playboi Carti, from the artist’s sixth studio album, Hurry Up Tomorrow. Co-produced by Pharrell Williams, the original track became the Weeknd’s highest debut on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart when it was released in February.

The remix opens with a verse from Doechii, who delivers timeless rhymes like “I been legit since I came out the swamp” and “The fuck do you mean?/I just want the peen.” For his part, the Weeknd counters, “She just wanna roll and I don’t mind it,” while Playboi reprises a verse from the album version.
