Watched this film as part of Blood in the Snow 2017. It's an okay film but suffers from a lot of mistakes that first-time directors seem to make.
The story itself claims to be based on true events, but I can find no news sources that point to a story like this ever happening. Overall, the script is somewhat weak and the pacing of the story is too slow in the first half, while the ending feels rushed. It almost seems like this film was shot from the first or second draft. As Phillips is credited as the sole writer, it seems she suffers from the hubris that many directors do where they envision their story as precious and are reticent to make any changes.
Looking at the crew attached, I get the feeling that the successful completion of the film relied heavily on Phillips' more experienced crew during production, including 1stAD Jake O'Neill and line producer Emily Schooley, and the post-production team at Post City Sound. Much of a film is made during post-production and this seems to be the case here. The visual effects in the film appear to be all practically done, which at least is a refreshing change from overly CGIed films. The music is a bit over the top and often telegraphs the few scares before they happen, but is fairly solid overall. As for the cinematography, there are a few interesting shot choices and some nice detail shots of their creepy location, but overall they are pretty standard for indie horror films.
If anything, what kind of put me off of the film was the acting. The lead character Ashley is simply not a strong actor. She is thin and good looking (and that's probably why she was cast for the lead) but a lot of her performance is flat and telegraphed. The film would have been far more interesting with a stronger lead, even if she wasn't as conventionally attractive. Most of the rest of the characters are pretty unlikeable and/or downright annoying, which also takes away from the enjoyment of the film. The actual Blood Child was kind of cute when she wasn't scary, though it seems like this film was banking on the child-being-scary as part of its thrills.
Watch it if it's on Netflix and you're bored, but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to see it again.

Read the story and found it interesting. The movie introduced it's idea nicely. These are the positive things to tell. D.O.P. seldom caught good shots, dialouges and their pacing very often don't work, some actors overacted, some were flat. Director and D.O.P. need more experience and the movie needs a remake, cause of the interesting story-idea. Maybe in a few years by the same team...?!

If you're scared of a little girl in a red dress appearing in the background of a boring movie you can try it. It's a really played out rhythm of a horror film. Nothing happens, nothing happens, spooky music, quick jump scare of a girl in a dress, girl disappears, people make excuses for seeing the ghost girl, repeat ad nauseam. The acting and camera work is amateurish at best but work. Honestly though the story is just so repetitive that there's really nothing to enjoy. It's a very cheesy rip off of the movie Malicious which is much better. Everyone constantly yelling at the maid drove me mad. Not worth it.

I was initially attracted to watch this film by the description and it's 5.8 rating on IMDB. Half way through the movie, I couldn't stand how rude and racist some of the comments about asian and asian culture. Actors are acting so bad like a school play is another factor I have to abort to finish watching it. Please save yourself time and find some other better horror films that don't belittle other culture to make you scare.

This is my first review after 8 years . I do this to warn you. This Movie is one of the worst of maybe the worst movie that i have ever seen. I have seen it to the end just because I found it funny how bad it is. Some scenes looks like a parody. Scary Movie 6 can take the original Scenes from this movie.

This is not a movie.. it is nothing. You can't take the high rating seriously... this must be a bug in imdb data. Can someone repair the error?
It is soooo bad...pfffff. I couldn't watch till the end....too stupid, boring and ridiculous.
I dont have time for this silly crap
Original premise, but for the rest standard horror cliches. Decent acting and a good build up of mystery and atmosphere. Far from great, but not too shabby.

None of these "actors" can act. Hopefully they have other jobs. This is a terrible, boring movie. I gave it 45 minutes then got out of it.
Please do not watch.
Please do not watch.

This is one of the worst movies ever made!
It has poor acting, terrible dialogue and is overall very boring.
Not scary at all.
Don't waste your time like I did hoping it would improve..... it doesn't trust me!!
