Her Story

Her Story is one of the most unconventional games ever made. The gameplay is extremely unique and different from any other game. Though, the fact that its different is a good thing because there isn't any game known to me that brings the same or a similar experience. The gameplay consists watching video tapes of the interrogation of a woman about the murder of her husband. Throughout the game, you will enter keywords in the data search bar, and this will give you other footage to look through. Just with that, the game is already quite special, but they push it to a whole other level. There isn't any cinematic or text or video tape that explains what really happened, you'll have to figure it out. But you can also just end the game without actually understanding anything, but of course that wouldn't be fun. One of the best aspects to the ending is that there is some room for interpretation. There are things that are pretty much certain to be true, but there are other things where each player might have a different vision over it. This game is probably the closest thing to feeling like you are a detective (unless your an actual detective). The actual "Story" is fun to piece together because you have to pay attention to details and look at it from different perspectives.

I think this is a very smart game that is unique is many ways and it really breaks from the usual gameplay of video games and instead it enables you to experience something totally new and different from other things you've played. I strongly recommend this game to anyone who wants to test their detective skills or just for someone who is searching for something unusual.

You log on a police database, storing video recordings of interrogations. You're only given access to one "cold" case, and a single person's testimonials, "Hers". It's "Her Story", cut in very short clips, classified by tags, and you browse them via a search engine.

Will you find answers to this mistery. Is it answers you should be looking for. Why not digging in some side story just out of curiosity. What does she have to say about that. What does she say. What doesn't she say.

This game is not very long to get through, like a movie I'd say, but it really is a journey of its own. Have a piece of paper and a pen at hand. Let that... thing perform its spell, and let's hope it works on you.

A steal on Steam, and great indie efforts such as this one deserves all the support in my book. And of course, kudos to Viva Seifert, who is hauntingly convincing in this peculiar acting exercise.
