Man, this movie reminds me of exactly why I am still single! The things ppl to for love is just insane! Well acted and IF you are a fan of found footage then this will be a treat. It did feel like it dragged on but the two leads kept it interesting enough to keep your attention until the end. Lesson here is to be ready to get exactly what you really want. Because if you try too hard things might go exactly your way.

A cute woman and her estranged boyfriend decide to kill people, because...why not? Things get messy and out of hand though. Capture Kill Release has one of the most realistic dismemberment scenes that I've seen. Great FX work. Jennifer Fraser, as the psychotic lead, was a fun performance. Above notch found footage film.

Im not into all the found footage movies about ghosts they are all the same. This had good acting, good story, good sex scenes, and whole new view on the found footage genre. It was great. Not really a horror movie though, more of a thriller.

I wanted to like 'Capture Kill Release', I really did. I'm a big fan of the "found footage" genre. It has produced some of my favourite horror films because it can be a very effective tool when used correctly. 'Capture Kill Release' however, was not a film that should have used it. The point of using it is to make things feel as realistic as possible and thus more scary. The way this film used it though had the opposite effect. Instead, I kept thinking to myself how absurd it was that they were filming this and how completely unrealistic the whole thing was.
Another problem I had with this movie was it that it was supposed to be a horror, yet it never once feels like a horror other than the odd bit of gruesome dismemberment. It plays out more like a drama. And that would be fine if that was what they were intending (in fact I think that would have made for a much better film had it focused itself in that direction), but you can clearly tell that they were indeed trying to make a horror movie and simply failed miserably.
Add in some pretty horrible acting from the entire cast and you have a complete misfire. A 90 minute film should never feel this long, dull and drawn out. There are some brilliant films out there in the "found footage" genre. I suggest watching one of those instead.

This was a decent film from the beginning. The story is about a "normal" couple who decide to kill someone. It is presented as "found footage" rather than a typical film.
I got the feeling that the guy thinks it is just a joke but the woman is serious. There is really awful scene where a cat doesn't make it to the end of the film, but maybe it says more about me that I found this a worst scene than those involving humans.
There are some pretty explicit scenes that look like a real body is being cut up. There is also some black humour in the planning of the killing and the nonchalance afterwards.
I really liked the two main actors and felt for both of them in the film. The ending was a bit predictable but well done nevertheless. Overall, well worth a watch

I wonder where people get ideas to make this sort of tripe
The whole thing is painful to watch. The main "actress" is as annoying as having a pencil pushed through one's nostril.
The shaky camera is vomit inducing.
And the idea of two morons pairing to kill a random person is revolting.
I skipped though most of this abomination and 2-3 minutes were enough to learn that the writers, directors, whatever, should be locked up in a a high-security mental institution for the criminally insane.

Although Farhang was annoying and bitch boy in every way possible the film still worth the watch. Jennifer, played by Jennifer was believable as an attention needy sick woman. Watch till the very end for the movie to be worth worth the experience. The true sad star was poor ole Gary and the cat :(
This movie is like nothing you've seen before. The acting is superb. I'm not sure how much of the dialogue is scripted or impromptu, but it is completely plausible and believable. Not the typical low budget production. Highly recommended.
I downloaded this movie last night from the play store. I really wasn't expecting much but it was really well made. The female lead is a truly scary character. She puts forth a weird sexuality mixed with this evil desire. Her partner is a hapless loser, that you feel for. I pulled up the cast and was a little surprised they don't have more than a one other credit. Maybe they are acting in commercials? The movie is a great little film. It was obviously filmed on a shoestring budget but don't let that turn you off. I enjoyed the acting and the little bits of humour thrown here and there. I don't usually like the "found footage, first person filming" style, but this time it actually worked. If you get a chance have a little bit of time to kill on an evening, give it a try.

Great concept with intriguing characters. The characters are played really strongly with the female actress being a standout. The ending is satisfying. A few dumb decisions by the characters and pacing issues stop Capture, Kill, Release from getting a higher rating.

CAPTURE KILL RELEASE is a found footage movie that has a premise reminiscent of that of movies going back all the way to ROPE (1948) by Alfred Hitchock, itself inspired by the real-life Leopold and Loeb murder of 1924, where two young men, in order to prove their superior intellect, attempted to carry out the "perfect murder". They were, however, later caught and sent to prison.
In this movie, the motivational aspect for carrying out the perfect murder by a couple is not spelled out, but it is clearly still implied, since not getting caught is prerequisite to being able to continue.
The movie can be read as a pitch-black commentary on the lengths to which some are willing to go to please their partner in a romantic relationship. Jennifer Fraser is fantastic as the beautiful, sexy, crazy and deadly instigator of the couple's "project" of killing a random stranger and documenting it, and Farhang Ghajar delivers a naturalistic performance as her reluctant husband who genuinely loves his wife but underestimates what he is getting himself into for her.
The beginning of the movie records their meticulous preparations, including ascertaining that they really have all the necessary tools at their disposal and even consulting a medical textbook in order to learn how to properly dispose of the corpse. Once the deed is done, the film pulls no punches on how their preparations are put into practice in some scenes that are not for weak stomachs.
Once the husband understands the horrific implications of what they have done, he wants to stop, but his psycho wife is just getting started.
Despite the black humor, the movie retains a high degree of realism throughout. This is one of few movies where the serial killer is a woman. One other found footage black comedy featuring a female serial killer, but from the angle of social commentary on the role of women artists in society, is I BLAME SOCIETY (2020).
Overall, this is a well-produced, amusing yet disturbing found footage horror thriller.

For such a low budget film is was perfect. Acting was great. Jennifer Fraser stole the show. She played everything realistic. Her crazy side and laugh was a genuine feeing. How is this her only role ever? Shows true horror that can really happen. I would recommend. Check it out.

I often see the suggestion that Requiem For A Dream should be shown in schools to discourage students from using drugs. The idea is that because the movie shows very graphic examples of horrible consequences, it will scare kids from every trying them. If there was a way to identify potential serial killers, Capture Kill Release might be the equivelant film to turn them away. There are some pretty graphic moments that would probably weed out anyone who doesn't have a strong stomach. The main characters start out excited at the idea of murder, but they are shown going through mounting difficulties as the story progresses. On top of that, there's an incredible amount of work they have to do. Housecleaning is so draining, I often split it into multiple days. You can't do that in the situations shown in Capture Kill Release. Once you start that process, you're all in, so you better hope your energy holds up. I've never had thoughts of harming someone, but after watching this, I REALLY can't see why anyone would choose to put themself through it. At the very least, you'd be giving up your entire weekend, and if something goes awry? You'd better hope you have some vacation time saved up, because you aren't making it in to work tomorrow. Is that really how you want to use up your personal days? Think about it.

I'm a huge horror fan and this movie by far has been one of the best horror films I've seen in years! It captures the psychological aspect of horror and psychopaths while adding the element of gore in the first person perspective. There were parts where I had to look away, but couldn't.

honestly, I'm a huge horror, slasher, thriller etc movie buff. I love me a good old fashion disturbing tail told through the eyes of an even more disturbed story teller.
THIS movie had me locked in from the opening scene right to the ending credits. It's not your typical found footage film, there are so many layers and I really truly hope to see more from these writers/directors in the near future!
MUST SEE!
cheers

This is a movie that I heard about through podcasts. My guess is that this popped up on one talking about found footage. Since it was on my must-see list, I decided to check with my co-host Jake for Side Quest Podcast to see if he was interested. This is a filming style that I don't think we've covered yet.
Synopsis: a couple plots to murder a random stranger just for the thrill of it, but things turn ugly when one of them changes their mind.
This synopsis is spot-on for what we're getting here. We start this with Jennifer (Jennifer Fraser) buying a camera. She surprises her live-in boyfriend, Farhang (Farhang Ghajar). She wants to document the prep work ahead of them murdering someone. We get to see them as they buy supplies, discuss who they should target and what their plan is to dispose of the body. The main goals are to kill a stranger and not get caught.
One day, Jennifer is filming and meets a homeless man named Gary (Jon Gates). He is nice and they're getting along when Jennifer bumps into a rich guy, played by Rich Piatkowski. He was rude to her when it was an accident. He goes as far to call her a horrible name. She follows him home. This the man that she wants to murder.
As they approach the actual killing, Farhang has reservations. It almost seemed fun to do the prep work. He doesn't think he can go through with it right now. He thinks they need more time. Things happen that push things forward and creates problems between the couple. Decisions are made that will change everyone's lives forever.
That is where I'll leave my recap and introduction to the characters. I went lighter on the recap here as this doesn't have the deepest storyline. It doesn't need it either. This premise is perfect to be shot as a found footage film to be honest. What we get is more of a character study of the duo. We get to know our two leads and delve into their psyche as this life altering decision is made. What is great about this, the deeper we get into it, we get to peak behind the mask of humanity that there's a psychopath hidden beneath. That is terrifying.
Now with that set up, let me delve into our lead couple. They seem normal. I'll be honest, I've had talks with friends in the past about if I was going to commit murder, how would I do it. It would stem from watching true crime shows and documentaries. How this starts is harmless enough. They go farther than others by going to a hardware store where they buy things like tarps, shovels, rope and an ax. These are things that a homeowner would use. Not necessarily living in the city, but it is fine. It is here that we get glimpses that Jennifer is more into this than Farhang. She might also not fully grasp the consequences of what she wants to do.
The tension builds from these opening scenes. There is one that bothered me where Jennifer wakes up Farhang in the middle of the night. What is done is in line with real psychopaths. It is soon after that she goes out with the camera and meets Gary as well as the rich guy. That is where we know it is going to happen. There's an interesting duality here. We don't want anything bad to happen to Gary since he's such a nice guy, at least I didn't. The rich man though, he's not only a jerk, but also cheating on his wife. I love how for me; I want her to kill the latter. It is Farhang who points out though, he hasn't done anything that warrants it though. He is right in that logic.
Let me then shift over to filmmaking. There is a realism here that is unnerving. It starts with our couple just normalizing the practice of disposing of a body. When it happens, it makes it less shocking, while still making the viewer feel empty. They aren't looking at the person as a human. Going with found footage, which makes us feel like we're helping them. The effects feel and look real. That again goes back to cinematography and framing. They can hide things there. I'm also glad that they didn't include a soundtrack. It is just the sound design of what the camera is picking up which helps add to the atmosphere it created. This worked for me.
All that is left then is acting. Fraser steals the show here. She seems normal at first, but the deeper we get and the closer to killing someone, we peak behind her 'mask'. It gets scary as we go on so credit to her. I like Ghajar as her partner. It seems like a fun game to plan this until that time is upon us. The stress of it is unbearable and I felt that in his performance. Gates was good as Gary. He is likeable and when Jennifer is talking to him, I feel genuine concern. Piatkowski works well as this rich guy. He is the opposite where I don't like him, but credit to get a reaction out of me. Other than that, Christina Schimmel as well as the minor roles rounded this out for what was needed.
In conclusion, I thought this was a tight little found footage style movie. It works well to set up Jennifer and Farhang, also credit to their performances to bring the characters to life. I thought that this was well made. The effects look real. The cinematography and framing help there. How this is constructed helps build that atmosphere and build tension. I'm there until the end. This won't be for everyone though. If you don't like this filming style, avoid this. Outside of that though, this is an interesting look at a psychopathic killer, giving in to this urge.
My Rating: 8 out of 10.
