It all begins during the week before Christmas, Eric and his friends gather to acknowledge friends, past and present. Eric is reminded of his life's greatest regret and sets out to correct it.

Eric and Christian regroup after an extended weekend bender. Eric is shown that tolerance doesn't equal acceptance while Andrew and his team welcome Eric to his new job.

Eric's present is placed on hold while he reemerges in his past, December 1988 is a time of turmoil for members of the LGBTQ community that's mixed in equal parts of discrimination, passion, peril and hope. Eric is reminded that he's left his True North in Texas.

A brush with the law reminds Eric that Gays are not welcome and triggers a weekend bender that lands him and Christian in Mexico. Eric's condition in the present remains curiously unresponsive bringing all hands-on deck to solve it. Will seems to have a veiled understanding of Eric's condition while all others grasp to understand.

Eric's inspiration for returning to his past is revealed as he reunites with Christian and as his need to repress it diminishes while there. Elicious fearlessly defends Eric, rescuing him from a beat down which became an all too familiar experience during this time of political backlash and anti-gay rhetoric.

Will is able to make a connection with Eric while at his hospital bedside. Eric's desire to hit the ground running as he reports to his first day of work at the cities only Gay newspaper is set back by his friend and mentor Andrew's concern and response to his beating. Eric's Hospital physician shares the puzzling findings of his test results.

Andrew assembles his team in response to Eric's police encounter while Christian and Elicious support Eric in his desire to get past the experience with as little attention as possible. Eric finds that the City of Houston's embrace of LGBTQ people in 1988 is limited to tolerance at best.

Eric's Husband Aiden and friends debate the reasons for his hospitalized condition while Luke breaks off to confront Will in search of what he knows about their friend. Eric and Mark take up where they left off, offering another clue in the conclusion of this puzzle-box series season cliff hanger.
