Writer/Director Richard Blake made a similar short film in 2001 while running a local television station in his home town. He featured the music of the band Collective Soul throughout the entire film and vowed one day to do it "for real" with a full length feature.
Writer/Director Richard Blake deferred all pay as a writer, director, producer, and lead actor and instead used every cent to secure the rights to Collective Soul tracks which are fully featured on the film's soundtrack.
Both familiar and deep B side Collective Soul tracks are used as the film's primary soundtrack.
The script was written during Blake's transition from California to Texas in 2021. In the completed film, the main character also transitions from California to Texas.
There is a quote in the opening of the movie which was the theme and ultimate inspiration behind the entire story written by Richard Blake. The quote is from the song "NEEDS" and reads - "In this time of substitute, it's my needs I've answered to, and the hope that I invest, turns to signals of distress, all the while." After watching the movie, when you read or recall this beautiful and meaningful lyric, you might realize that it completely describes the story arc of the lead character in the film.
