This show is the first anime I ever loved and have since been watching many others just like this one. I'm a sucker for romance and this show has all the romance I could ask to see. The characters are great and the setting is cool for a harem series. I really wished that something similar to this could have happened in reality where one guy has to house a bunch of women and they all fall in love with him. It's a shame that this is all fiction but it's my kind of fiction to enjoy for the rest of my life. I'm great full to have stumbled upon this show and the many others that are quite similar to it.
Starting with a mistaken identity and continuing with cultural differences "Monster Musume" is a surprisingly cute anime with a fresh take on the harem cliche.
Add in creative ways to squeeze in lol-worthy "Fan Service" (though it does get over the top at times), clever monster introductions to the harem (to say nothing of their interactions with each other) and you end up with a very watchable anime.

- Fantastic English Dubbing.
- Multiple OVA's and Specials (with English Dubbing).
- Season two confirmed this year.
Cons:
- Ecchi moments get a little over the top at times.
As you know, I am always on the lookout for new anime to see and manga to read. I came across this manga, and I thought it was really funny. I had already read all the way through volume #1. It has quickly become one of my favorite manga series, featuring mythological monsters, also known as liminals, such as lamias and harpies.
An anime adaptation of the manga surprised me in July. I took a peek at episodes on Crunchyroll, and I found the series awesome! The series is about an "Interspecies Cultural Exchange" program in which all the monsters we have read about are real. The program also involves featuring the liminals as representative visitors. The liminals, like humans, also fulfill tasks. Lastly, humans and liminals must not harm each other. Kimihito Kurusu, a Japanese student, unwillingly houses six liminal girls as part of the program. But these girls are crazily in love with him: Miia the lamia, Papi the harpy, Centorea (or Cerea) the centaur, Suu the slime, Mero the mermaid, and Rachnera the "arachne" (spider creature).
I love Papi and Cerea; I think Kimihito and Miia's chemistry is starting to get genuine, even though she does try too hard. So all in all, I love every bit of this sexy fantasy comedy series.

Overall, this is a pretty good anime. I'd recommend it. Its definitely not for everyone. There's probably few people who are into everything that this show has to offer *cough* but if you're not into any of it at all, then you're probably not going to want to watch it.
Visuals - The animation is surprisingly fluid, and the overall direction is actually great. This show plays around with animation styles and aspect ratios, and in all seriousness has a distinct energy to its visual style. All these elements combine to make the ecchi fun that more effective. My only complaint with the visuals would be that for some reason the protagonist has no pupils most of the time. Its not even a bad thing, and you get used to it, but its just a bit odd.
Characters - While these aren't the greatest written characters on the planet, I've got to say that they are actually fairly well written. Except for maybe one or two characters, I can't think of any that fit into any of your typical anime archetypes. Not that I can tell, anyways, and I'm fairly familiar with most of them. Even the protagonist isn't your typical blank slate audience surrogate that you get in these types of shows a lot of the time. He probably could've used a bit more development, and we could've gotten more information on him, but he's still a character.
World - I don't have a lot to say about the actual story, as there isn't really any ongoing narrative. Every episode has its own thing going on and overall the show is mainly a slice of life structure. The world building is actually pretty good for the most part. There are some things that they could've focused on that they didn't (although most of the things I can think of would just become irrelevant). I like the effort put into creating all these different types of monsters and how this world functions. (At the very end of every episode there is a short title screen giving some extra info on certain species that also helps with this.)
This anime was a lot better than I was expecting and I am looking forward to a season 2 if there is one.

The anime is absolutely hilarious. The characters are unique and hilarious. The situational humor the Mc finds himself in is gold. Like Manny harem anime the show finds a way to rope one boy into a house full of crazy or strange girls. Who all come to want him, in one way or another. This anime is different from other harem anime, In the way that each girl is a different and new species that each pose there own problems for our Mc to solve. If your looking for a new harem anime monster musame. Is a fun perverted adventure anime with all sorts of laughs and gags interwoven throughout the story.
