PLEASE STOP GIVING HIGH RATINGS TO MOVIES JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE MADE IN YOUR COUNTRY. I see it happening all the time lately and it is misleading for the people that are actually looking for a good movie to watch. I'm not saying it has a really high one, I'm just saying that I've seen thrillers with lower ratings that were so much better than this one, it would be a shame to even compare them.
I found this one on Netflix and it intrigued me so I jumped into watching it without researching it too much. Big mistake.
The story is ok, but the execution is straight up trash. The way it is filmed and the music are just as kitschy as anything you would see in a poor Indian TV show. The editing isn't great. The acting is so bad it makes the whole thing feel like a parody. There are some symbolic elements in it, like the eyes or the fish, that just seem out of place considering that the movie isn't subtle in any way and the other parts are so bad.
Not going to go further with this. I think a 5 is a decent and deserved rating for it. Watch it only if you are in the mood for eating popcorn while scratching your bellybutton, otherwise, it will be a waste of time.
LENS is the most daring movie in Tamil you might see in years to come which exposes something you cannot explain but it gets into your nerves and makes you cringe and feel uncomfortable.... A pure thriller (gets into your spine) on voyeurism and so boldly portrayed with just 4 characters and 2 rooms. Jayaprakash Radhakrishnan has done a brilliant job and has joined some amazing debutante directors who have bloody impressed in their scripts.. DO NOT WATCH IF U FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE about this topic
It's uncomfortable to think of everyone knowing everything about ourselves. Maybe this hit too close to home resulting in many of the poor reviews, but it's definitely a well done film. A film that matters in today's reality.
Disclaimer: Lens is a film intended for mature audiences and is not suitable for kids.
Lens (2016) is a drama-mystery-thriller film which was written and directed by Jayaprakash Radhakrishnan. He also plays one of the main characters in the film.
The film deals with the subject of privacy intrusion very seriously. Aravind, a married man, is a voyeur and addicted to porn videos. One day a stranger comes into his webchat and says he wants Aravind to watch his death live. Why he wants him to see his death and his past makes the crux of the story. The emotions which we feel after watching the film will be unique based on our personality, tastes and past experiences. Some may feel regret. Some may feel sadness. I'm sure it will be unique for each of us. The film helps us realize our personality in the virtual world and shows the aftermath of a crime, which we casually dismiss as harmless, while committing.
The film is directed brilliantly and has a well-crafted script. The background music and cinematography keeps us engaged throughout the runtime of the film. All actors have done justice to their respective roles. Hope films with such strong content won't go unnoticed in the future.

Take a bow sir !!!
Plot: 10/10
Takes up a issue related to pornographic voyeurism and presents it with a ting of thriller. Protagonist Arvind ,who is played by Jayaprakash Radhakrishnan who is also director and writer for the film, gets a unknown friend request from a person who makes some interesting demands and story unfolds thereafter with captivating and precise speed. Takes full mark for implicit social commentary.
Acting:5/20
Acting is average nothing special to talk about. But it feels descent not too shabby.
Cinematography etc:
There has not been much scope for anything else as movie is little bit precise in its focus and limited. Still whole atmosphere is not hard to look at.
Audience:
It shows a mirror to current societal norms and private practices regarding sexuality around internet pornography and that image is not pretty. I am sure many people will hang their faces in shame after watching this. By that standard I thing film is a success of getting the point across audience and move them emotionally and retrospect.
I recommend that people should watch this film and you will not be disappointed (only if you are not looking for some light romcom movie to chill. Even then do watch this movie some other time).
