Nearly 10 years ago, Alan Tudyk took what seemed to be a one-and-done trip to George Lucas' far, far away galaxy in 2016's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. That Gareth Edwards-directed movie memorably ended with its entire squad of Rebels perishing after successfully stealing the plans for the Death Star — a mission that made Luke Skywalker's epic New Hope trench run possible. Tudyk's refurbished Imperial droid, K-2So, was among the body count and he used his final moments to bid farewell to his comrades-in-arms. "Goodbye," he bravely said as he succumbed to a barrage of Stormtrooper laser blasts.

Flash-forward a decade and K-2So is saying "hello" to viewers once more.

In an interview with Digital Spy, Alan Tudyk revealed that he almost turned down starring in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story because of scheduling conflicts. When the director of the film, Gareth Edwards, approached him for the role of K-2So, Tudyk was already working on a series called Con Man. Due to this, the actor had to tell Edwards that he would have to turn the film down if it were to begin filming in June. Making this call certainly wasn’t an easy one, since even being offered the role was surreal for the actor.

One particular alien is on its way to global domination, at least as far as the Top 10 streaming charts are concerned. As of July 10, Resident Alien, which premiered its fourth season in June, is the No. 5 most streamed show globally on iTunes, per FlixPatrol.

The Alan Tudyk-led series from creator Chris Sheridan is ahead of shows like The Day of the Jackal, SpongeBob SquarePants, Bachelor in Paradise, the Tom Hardy-led Taboo,and Pinky and the Brain, which are in the No. 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 spots in iTunes’ Top 10, respectively. It's always a joy when members of the Firefly cast come back together for other projects, and Alan Tudyk has recently revealed that he and his former co-stars from the sci-fi cult classic have been getting ready for an exciting reunion. While the Firefly cast isn't getting back together to make more episodes of the beloved show, Firefly will likely be heavily involved.

Speaking at his Sunday panel during Denver Fan Expo, which Screen Rant's Dani Kessel Odom attended, Tudyk shared information about a new podcast he's been making with Nathan Fillion called Once, We Were Spacemen. While it's unclear exactly what the podcast will be about, Tudyk did confirm that it won't just be Firefly actors who will appear as guests.

Despite lasting just one season, Firefly is still considered to be one of the most influential sci-fi shows ever, and it played a key role in Alan Tudyk's career.

Per TMZ, Lee died on Wednesday, Dec. 18, with his passing confirmed by his sister, Norine Lee, and his wife, Diane. According to his loved ones, Lee's passing was attributed to complications from Als, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. The actor was first diagnosed with a degenerative brain disease in October, though it wasn't until earlier this month when he was diagnosed with Als.

Lee's family also stated that the actor was able to return home for a little over a week after his updated diagnosis, but returned to the hospital when he had difficulties with breathing and swallowing. After spending a little under a week hospitalized, he died with his wife by his side. In an exciting new development, Alan Tudyk has reportedly been cast in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman film. Details about Tudyk’s specific role are still under wraps. Gunn, who co-wrote and is producing the movie, recently finished principal photography.

The House of Lies creator was never interested in telling a conventional story about clicking keys and endless lines of code. He cooked up something strange, a plan to make a show that was both fresh and innovative, worthy of being set during a period of profound technological advancement. So Carnahan walked into a pitch meeting and told the network that he sought to “ruin the genre.” He wanted the show to be as disruptive, an overused buzzword today, as the Og tech disruptors.

Alan Tudyk is starring in a new Syfy pilot based on Dark Horse's Resident Alien, where he comes to Earth to see if we're worth saving.

Alan Tudyk is no stranger to being the resident star of genre fare on screens both big and small. Memorably soaring like a leaf in the wind on the gone-too-soon Firefly and Serenity, his superb character work has ranged from the more prestigious to the unabashedly fanboy-friendly, a la Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Dollhouse. He even poked fun at the dichotomy on his web series Con Man. However, he is returning to sci-fi proper now via the Syfy channel with Resident Alien, an adaptation of a Dark Horse comic book series of the same name.

Syfy has found its Resident Alien. Alan Tudyk (Con Man, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) is set to star in the title role in Resident Alien, a drama pilot based on the Dark Horse comics series by Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse, from Universal Cable Productions, Dark Horse Entertainment and Amblin TV. In addition, Sara Tomko (Sneaky Pete), The Closer alum Corey Reynolds, Alice Wetterlund (Silicon Valley) and Levi Fiehler (Mars) are set to round out the series regular cast.

Resident Alien is described as a dark, twisted and comedic fish-out-of-water story. Adapted for television by Chris Sheridan (Family Guy), it follows a crash-landed alien named Harry (Tudyk) who, after taking on the identity of a small-town Colorado doctor, slowly begins to wrestle with the moral dilemma of his secret mission on Earth — ultimately asking the question, “Are human beings worth saving?”

Syfy’s “The Magicians” released its Season 3 trailer, and surprisingly enough there’s little to no magic involved. Instead, the quest to restore magic to the world is officially on after the new Kings and Queens of Fillory failed to protect the kingdom last season. Protagonists Quentin, Eliot, Alice, and Margo will fight to bring the magic back, and it looks like they’ll go to any length to do so.

Nathan Fillion’s starring role as Captain Malcolm Reynolds on Fox’s ahead-of-its-time space/sci-fi/western series Firefly will likely be forever considered the elephant in the room that is his career. Yet, his 2009-2016 run – opposite Stana Katic – as the title star of ABC crime procedural Castle was, in actuality, the most prominent gig of his career. Now, a year and a half after that series came to a (controversially sloppy) close, Fillion has finalised a deal to return to ABC with a series called The Rookie.

ABC has emerged the winner in a competitive situation to acquire The Rookie, reports Deadline. With the network giving a straight-to-series order, Nathan Fillion will not only serve as star, but has also nabbed an executive producer slot.

The Rookie is the newest vehicle for Nathan Fillion, who, of course, is best known for his starring role as Captain Malcolm Reynolds on Fox’s ignominiously axed, ahead-of-its-time 2002-2003 space/sci-fi/western series, Firefly, and a 2009-2016 run – opposite Stana Katic – as the title star of ABC crime procedural Castle. Now, two years after that series came to a (controversially sloppy) close, Fillion returns to ABC on this freshman cop series that mixes hard crime drama with some occasional Fillion levity.

In the latest news, ABC has just made a full season order for The Rookie, adding seven more episodes to its previous thirteen, bringing the currently-running Season 1 to a new total of 20 episodes.

It’s a sad day for fans of the ol’ ultraviolence, as Syfy’s “Blood Drive,” a gleefully disturbing mash-up of horror and sci-fi tropes, will not be returning for a second season. In a heartfelt letter to fans yesterday, creator James Roland described how much making the show meant to him — and how disappointed he was that it had been canceled.
