Image
Spoiler Alert !!!This article contains major spoilers about 'Dexter: Resurrection' Episode 7.

Dexter: Resurrection Episode 7, titled “Course Correction”, saw simmering tensions between Dexter (Michael C. Hall) and his Miami Metro Pd colleague Angel Batista (David Zayas). In their most recent reunion, Batista states his theory about Dexter being the rideshare killer (Dark Passenger), while also accusing him of a few other murders he did not commit.

Batista’s growing suspicions continue to pose a threat to Dexter’s true identity and subsequently disrupt Harrison’s (Jack Alcott) life. His personal motives continue to fuel his conviction. And if Resurrection is anything like the Og series, things cannot end well for Batista.

Watch Out ‘Mean Girls,’ It Seems Oct. 3 Is Now Taylor Swift’s Day
Image
On Oct. 3, Taylor Swift asked me what day it was and I said…uhhh Mean Girls Day? Album release day?

For the past two decades, Oct. 3 has always been unofficially known as Mean Girls Day, referencing the iconic 2004 film starring Lindsay Lohan. However, Swift has decided to switch things up.

The pop superstar revealed Wednesday that her 12th album, The Life of a Showgirl, will also be released Oct. 3 — essentially claiming that day as her own this year. But she has a good reason.

The Grammy winners shared on a recent episode of the New Heights podcast, hosted by her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and his brother, Jason Kelce, that the album’s release date, 10/3, adds up to 13, which has famously been Swift’s lucky number as she was born on Dec. 13, 1989.

“[It’s] never not annoying,” the “Cruel Summer” singer joked, regarding her references to the number 13 throughout her music career. “Always...

Fillion has even teased his appearance, stating:

"It's a continuous universe from end to end. You have Lanterns, you have Superman,...

More Young Adults Are Tuning into ‘South Park’ Than Ever Before
Image
For a show that supposedly “hasn’t been relevant in over 20 years,” a whole lot of people seem to be watching the new season of South Park.

While there was no new episode this week — to the frustration of fans who don’t want to pay for Paramount+ for even a single minute longer than they have to — we did learn all about how many people watched the previous episode, “Got a Nut,” the one where Kristi Noem goes on a puppy killing spree and a beloved Nickelodeon character is kidnapped and sex trafficked by Donald Trump’s Ice.

According to Variety, the episode “averaged 6.2 million global multiplatform viewers in its first three days of release,” which includes viewers “across Paramount+ and Comedy Central.” And tons of people watched the show on traditional TV. The Live+3 rating, which, per Collider “accounts for the number of viewers that tune in for...

Prime Video’s New ‘Reacher’ Replacement Launches With Disappointing Rotten Tomatoes Score
Image
Prime Video has been leaning hard into the action genre ever since Alan Ritchson’s Reacher became one of its biggest hits. This year, the streamer has loaded its slate with original films and shows, including one it hopes will capture a similar audience: Butterfly. The new spy thriller puts Daniel Dae Kim in the lead role, marking a long-awaited return to top billing for the Lost alum. Unfortunately, ahead of its August 13 premiere, the series is off to a lukewarm critical start with a 70% approval score on Rotten Tomatoes based on just 10 reviews.

Three of those reviews are negative, but the positive ones sound far from faint. Collider’s Jasneet Singh — who gave it an 8/10 — called it “a brilliant family drama” disguised as a spy thriller, and applauded its “fluid, mesmerizing choreography” and standout performances from Kim, Reina Hardesty, and Kim Ji-hoon.

"It is also in Rebecca's relationship with...

Chris Pratt’s $200 Million ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ Replacement Surges on Streaming Charts
Image
It’s hardly been 24 hours since Collider delivered you a batch of news regarding Chris Pratt’s hit Prime Video series, The Terminal List, but one of Pratt’s other beloved collaborations with the streamer has returned to streaming charts several years later. Pratt stars alongside Yvonne Strahovski (The Handmaid’s Tale) and J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) in The Tomorrow War, the 2021 dystopian sci-fi thriller following a family man who is sent into the future to fight a global war against a dangerous alien species. The Tomorrow War is still streaming on Prime Video, and the film is still in the top 10 four years later in several countries, such as the Philippines, Denmark, and Finland. The film earned scores of 51% from critics but 76% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Tomorrow War was compared to Tom Cruise’s Edge of Tomorrow upon release, primarily due to the time-traveling aspect. Both films also see...

Retta Takes a Tour of a Terrifying Basement Morgue on 'Scariest House in America' [Exclusive]
Image
"Hello, Retta, do you still like scary houses?" an ominous voice asks the comedian. While she may have said, "Nope," the HGTV host is back for another tour of spooky homes on Scariest House in America. In an exclusive Collider sneak peek, Retta tours a former funeral home and the terrifying secrets hidden in its nooks and crannies.

During her tour with the homeowners, Retta is introduced to a "corpse door," a hidden door cut into the floor that leads to the basement. She learns that "they would lift the bodies up through the floor." Being Scariest House in America, there is more for the Parks and Recreation alumni to hide her eyes from. She reluctantly heads down the stairs and into the basement morgue. "You'll be coming back out, Retta. Hopefully," one of the homeowners says.

The Addams Family Is Getting a New Movie From 'Wednesday' Creators — But There's a Catch
Image
As the Netflix series, Wednesday, continues its success with the release of Season 2, its creators, Alfred GoughandMiles Millar, have announced plans to create an Addams Familymovie. Gough and Millar reveal that this reboot will be animated rather than live-action and that it's still in its early stages. In a recent podcast interview, Gough shared more details about this upcoming project, revealing that it's going to be a reboot — meaning it won't be connected to the Netflix series or the previous animated films that were released in 2019 and 2021. Additionally, they're involved with Amazon MGM and Kevin Miserocchi from the Addams Foundation. While a scheduled release date has yet to be revealed, both filmmakers hope that this movie will come to the big screen.

“We're working on it with Amazon MGM and with Kevin Miserocchi who runs the Addams Foundation, he knew Charles Addams and the keeper of the Addams flame, and...

'Wednesday' Season 2 Reveals a Major Game-Changing Twist as the Countdown Begins on Part 2
Image
Wednesday Season 2 returns with its second and final part in less than a month. The final four episodes of the sophomore season of the Jenna Ortega-led series hits Netflix on September 3. Just a week after the first four episodes hit the streamer, skyrocketing the show to number 1 on the Netflix Top 10, a trailer for the second half of the season has dropped. Where things left off, Wednesday was gravely wounded, but given that the show is called Wednesday, even if she died, her death is likely temporary. That's confirmed by the trailer when Wednesday wakes, and in a shocking turn of events, her new spirit guide is revealed. Though the most common fan theory was her Aunt Ophelia, that's far from the case. Instead, it's Principal Larissa Weems (Gwendoline Christie). As the trailer continues, fans see the ramifications of Tyler Galpin's (Hunter Doohan) escape from Willow Hill and...

Vincent D'Onofrio Teases Possible 'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 3 Following Unexpected Charlie Cox Comments
Image
Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) rarely agree on anything. The two opposing forces are alike in many ways but radically different when it comes to their views on New York City. While this dynamic keeps Daredevil: Born Again fresh and worth watching, it's now extending to real life, and fans can’t be more grateful.

In recent news, Cox called the second installment of Born Again “the final season” of the hit Disney+ series, which came as disappointing news to fans. For the uninitiated, Netflix’s cancellation of the Og Daredevil series propelled fans to rally for the addition of Cox’s iconic character and his nemesis to the MCU. After years of rallying, Cox made his MCU debut with Spider-Man: No Way Home and D’Onofrio in the Hawkeye series. The two returned for the Born Again series, which was a major hit and has wrapped production on Season 2. So,...

Vincent D'Onofrio Delivers An Unexpected Update Regarding Daredevil: Born Again's Future
Image
Daredevil: Born Again lead star Charlie Cox may have misspoke about the upcoming second season of the Disney+ series being its last. Cox's Born Again co-star Vincent D'Onofrio has come out and stated that a third season of Daredevil remains likely at Marvel Television.

Earlier this week, a clip of Cox from the recent GalaxyCon went viral online, since it featured the actor referring to Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 as the "final season." With no such announcement having been made yet by Marvel, fans were confused whether Cox simply misspoke or had revealed the show's future prematurely. In an attempt to prevent further speculation, D'Onofrio took to X to give his thoughts on the matter. "I believe Charlie meant the last season we actually shot meaning the second season. Yet he used the term final season so its a bit confusing," the Kingpin actor agreed, before adding, "But Charlie...

‘The Last Jedi’ Star Says Star Wars Is Even More Secretive Than You Can Imagine [Exclusive]
Image
It’s been almost 10 years since the release of Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi, and one star from the film is pulling back the curtain on her experience joining the Star Wars universe. While it may be stars like Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, and John Boyega that get the lion’s share of the praise for the sequel movies, other stars like Hermione Corfield help fill the universe with rebel heroes that give it life.

Corfield recently caught up with Perri Nemiroff for an episode of Collider Ladies Night, and she explained how she learned more about her character’s history from fans: “Yeah, I’ve read my whole backstory. I got sent a whole backstory of the character. I’ve got my dolls. I’ve got my Lego figures. It was pretty, pretty wild.” It’s always jarring for anyone to see themselves immortalized in a lifelike figure or Lego set.

'Longlegs' Director's 78% Rt Stephen King Adaptation Is Dominating on Streaming
Image
After the success of Oz Perkins's indie darling Longlegs last year, one of the most anticipated films of 2025 was his adaptation of The Monkey. The film got plenty of buzz not just for its director, but for how it adapted the Stephen King short story of the same name in a violent and darkly comedic fashion, with Theo James in a dual lead role as twins Hal and Bill Shelburg. All the hype translated into another box office hit for Neon and Perkins, raking in $68.9 million globally and earning a Certified Fresh 78% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes to boot. Now that the killer wind-up toy has made its way to streaming on Hulu as of last week, it's dominating a new front, currently topping the charts ahead of The Other Woman and The Amateur.

The Rainmaker is not compelling TV, debuting with a mere 50% on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. This is a far cry from the 1997 film adaptation starring Matt Damon that is rated fresh at 82% on the same site.

Based on the best-selling novel by John Grisham, Rudy Baylor (Milo Callaghan), who is fresh out of law school, goes head-to-head with courtroom lion Leo Drummond (John Slattery) as well as his law school girlfriend, Sarah (Madison Iseman). Rudy, along with his boss, Bruiser (Lana Parrilla), and her disheveled paralegal,...

'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' Crushes 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' at the Box Office
Image
It's been in release for less than 20 days, but Marvel's The Fantastic Four: First Steps is already losing steam at the box office. In fact, it was on a downward spiral after its second weekend in theaters, when it registered a concerning drop in collections. The Fantastic Four remains Marvel's biggest bet of the year, and a lot was riding on the film's success following the commercial underperformance of Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts*. The movie had a strong enough debut, but it petered off almost immediately. That said, it has now overtaken both its predecessors, in addition to Marvel's two other big releases of 2021.

This past weekend, The Fantastic Four overtook the $403 million lifetime global haul of Eternals, director Chloé Zhao's poorly reviewed film that introduced a whole new set of characters to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, the Eternals aren't as popular as The Fantastic Four,...

Image
M. Night Shyamalan is in the middle of working on his next movie with Jake Gyllenhaal, but more than a year before it premieres in theaters, one of his older movies has returned to streaming charts more than 10 years later. In 2013, Shyamalan directed After Earth, the coming-of-age space sci-fi epic starring Will Smith opposite his son, Jaden Smith. The film follows a son who must embark on a perilous journey to call for help after his father is injured. After Earth is currently streaming on Netflix in America and Rakuten TV globally, where it’s one of the top 10 most popular movies in Estonia and Malta. The film earned “Rotten” scores of 12% from critics and 36% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, and it grossed $243 million at the global box office against a $130 million budget.

Fans who want to enjoy After Earth on Netflix should do so quickly — the streamer has announced...

‘Superman’ Dances Past James Gunn’s Career-Changing $232 Million Superhero Classic at the Box Office
Image
Marvel was empowered by the results delivered by Joss Whedon on The Avengers to take some risks when it came to hiring filmmakers for Guardians of the Galaxy. It was the boldest leap that the studio had taken until then, introducing a mostly unknown set of new characters to a franchise that had clearly struck a chord with the mainstream audience. The man who landed the gig was James Gunn, who didn't have any prior experience directing a big-budget studio film. However, he brought with him a scrappy sensibility that paid off handsomely, with the first Guardians of the Galaxy grossing $333 million at the domestic box office, against a reported budget that ballooned to $232 million. Over a decade later, his latest superhero movie, Superman, is passing that total after having completed a month of release.

Supermandebuted to mostly positive reviews, and has firmly established itself among the 100 highest-grossing hits in domestic box office history.

Yet Another ’X-Men ‘97’ Star Confesses Desire for Animated Movie as Live-Action X-Men Movie Hype Grows [Exclusive]
Image
After Storm voice actor Alison Sealy-Smith and Rogue voice actor Lenore Zann both previously expressed their desire for an animated X-Men ‘97 movie, another of their co-stars has jumped on the bandwagon. Starring in the role of Gambit in X-Men ‘97 is A.J. LoCasio, who is also famous for voicing Han Solo in Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. Gambit may have met an unfortunate fate in X-Men ‘97 Season 1, but that doesn’t mean LoCasio is ready to say goodbye to the card-dealing mutant.

Collider’s Maggie Lovitt recently caught up with LoCasio to promote his new book, and she asked for his thoughts on continuing Gambit’s story with an animated X-Men movie. He admits that he “saw Lenore say something” and that the Rogue actress “has been talking about that for a while.” He continued, expressing his desire to do more but also not wanting to overwhelm...

The 'King of the Hill' Revival Is One of Disney's Most-Watched Adult Animated Premieres Ever
Image
King of the Hill is back after 15 years, and it's still a dang ol' hit, man. Excitement has long been brewing for a return to Arlen, Texas, with Mike Judge's revival, and all the buzz has translated into the most-watched adult animated season premiere in five years for Hulu and Disney+. Following the premiere of the show's 14th season on August 4, the new episodes have garnered 4.4 million views in their first seven days on the platform. Unsurprisingly, the return of the king launched the season to #1 on the service's streaming charts and has kept the show among the top five titles throughout this time, also helping push the Hill family further past the 1 billion view mark over the show's lifetime on streaming.

Amid the new excitement about King of the Hill, the other seasons have all seen a bump in viewership, too, with Disney reporting a 41% increase in viewership...

New 'Tulsa King' Season 3 Image Puts Sylvester Stallone in Enemy Territory [Exclusive]
Image
As part of our Collider's Exclusive Preview event for the fall TV season, we are thrilled to exclusively debut a brand-new look at Tulsa KingSeason 3 — and it’s pure Dwight Manfredi swagger. In the image, Sylvester Stallone’s larger-than-life mobster stands in the dim glow of Montague Distillers, flanked by towering racks of aging barrels. One hand clutches a glass of whiskey, the other a smoldering cigar, his tailored purple suit cutting through the haze like a warning: the King of Tulsa isn’t backing down.

A new player is entering the game in Season 3 — the Renzetti crime family — and they’re making their presence felt by sending Dwight’s old prison pal, Russell Lee Washington Jr. (Samuel L. Jackson), to take him out. Whether the Renzettis will stick around in Tulsa King after that, or follow Washington into his upcoming New Orleans–set spin-off, remains to be seen.

Bill Skarsgård's Underrated Horror Thriller 'Locked' Gains Traction on Prime Video
Image
Bill Skarsgård is no stranger to the horror world. Some of the actor’s strongest performances are in the genre, including, Barbarian, Count Orlock in Nosferatu, The Devil all the Time, and his unforgettable performance as Pennywise in the It franchise. But earlier this year, one of his movies went under the radar but is now gaining steady traction on streaming.

Locked, which pairs Skarsgård with another horror icon, Anthony Hopkins, has debuted in fifth place globally on the Top 10 Movies charts on Prime Video. The film follows the It actor as a thief, Eddie, who becomes trapped in a heavily modified car by its mysterious owner, William (Hopkins), who intends to teach him the consequences of his decisions. First 'Only Murders in the Building' Season 5 Trailer Makes Everyone a Suspect
Image
Only Murders in the Building's Season 5 trailer is here, promising the emergence of new suspects and the return of some old friends (and enemies). Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez are on the trail of the killer who murdered the Arconia's longtime doorman in the new season of the Hulu mystery comedy. The new season will premiere on September 9. In the new trailer, the police have determined the death of doorman Lester (Teddy Coluca), whose body was discovered in last season's finale, to be an accident. Naturally, Charles Haden-Savage (Martin), Oliver Putnam (Short), and Mabel Mora (Gomez) aren't buying it, and soon another investigation is in full swing...as is another season of their podcast.

This time, the investigation draws in a mobster (Bobby Cannavale) and his extended family, three of the richest people on Earth, and the wife (Téa Leoni) of a missing businessman, the latter of whom hooks up with Charles,...

'Alien: Earth' Makes Franchise History
Image
As a franchise with a mixed history of huge highs and frustrating lows, any new Alien project is met with caution from fans. However, it seems the latest installment in the franchise, the first live-action episodic series, has blown most expectations out of the water. So good have the early responses been to the new FX series Alien: Earth, the excited screams can even be heard in space.

On the day of the show's debut, Alien: Earth has earned a Rotten Tomatoes critics' score of 94%, which isn't just an enormous, near-perfect achievement worth celebrating in isolation; it's also the joint-highest rating in the entire franchise, alongside the same score earned by James Cameron’s Aliens. 94% is 1% higher than the original 1979 Alien, and incredibly, almost eight times higher than the franchise-low 12% earned by the despised Alien vs. Predator: Requiem. Of course, this early high score for Alien: Earth is subject to change,...

Bad News, ‘Terminator’ Fans: The Reboot Just Got a Disappointing Update
Image
Terminator creator, James Cameron, has finally provided an update about the franchise’s next project, and fans won’t be too pleased. As you may know, a reboot has since been in the works, spearheaded by the prolific director who, in May 2023, was said to have been developing a script. Sadly, he hasn’t made it very far on said script as he’s currently dealing with a major case of writer’s block.

During a recent interview to discuss nuclear weapons, the prominent filmmaker touched on what drove him to write about nuclear Armageddon back in 1984 with the first ever Terminator. Amid the conversation, he spoke of the progress of the Terminator reboot, or lack thereof, admitting that the current real-life threat of nuclear war has hindered his efforts to write new installments. That, of course, includes the complete film series reboot he has mentioned in recent years.

Henry Cavill’s Forgotten 4% Rotten Tomatoes Action Thriller Is Finally Free to Stream
Image
Henry Cavill’s rise to fame began over 10 years ago, thanks to his role in Man of Steel, but one year before he suited up as Superman for the first time, he teamed up with a megastar for a critically panned action thriller that’s now streaming for free. Cavill stars alongside Bruce Willis (Die Hard) and Sigourney Weaver (Aliens) in The Cold Light of Day, a 2012 action thriller that follows a young Wall Street trader as he is forced to confront those responsible for kidnapping his family. The Cold Light of Day had been absent from streaming for a while, but the film is now available to watch for free on Pluto TV. It grossed only $16 million globally against a $20 million budget after earning disastrous scores of 4% from critics and 29% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Cold Light of Day has been largely forgotten over time in the larger scope of Cavill’s filmography,...

Matt Reeves Did Killmonger Better Than Black Panther in 11-Year-Old Movie That’s Dominating Streaming
Image
While Dawn of the Planet of the Apes currently climbs the HBO streaming charts (FlixPatrol), one cannot help but notice the degree of similarity the main antagonist, Koba, has with Black Panther‘s Killmonger. Though one did not directly inspire the other, the parallels between the two villains are far too numerous to ignore, making one revisit Reeves’s film in a new light.

This is not the first time a comparison has been drawn between the two movie villains, and yet, the fans are not only divided between their character arcs and storylines, but also convinced that Koba exists as a more ruthless and elevated alternative to the Marvel villain. And there is more than ample cause to prove and support that theory, too.

Helen Hunt Reveals the Brutal Experience of Filming ‘Twister’ 30 Years Later [Exclusive]
Image
Nearly three decades after Twister stormed into theaters, Helen Hunt still remembers just how physically punishing the 1996 disaster blockbuster was to make. Speaking with Collider’s Steve Weintraub at Fan Expo Boston, Hunt shared candid memories from the set — and confirmed that yes, it really was as brutal as it looked on screen.

“I would say almost every scene in Twister was hard to do because they were pointing fire hoses at us and throwing crap at us. It looked so good and so real because it was kind of real,” Hunt said, recalling the constant barrage of wind, water, and debris that made up the storm sequences. No mention of cows, it must be said. The physically taxing shoot didn’t overshadow the camaraderie on set, though.

“Luckily some time has passed, so it doesn’t seem that bad. But it was… you know, the fun part was hanging...
