A New Year means lots of removals from Netflix and January 1st is looking busy, with over 100 movies set to leave the service already. Below, we’ll be keeping track of all the Netflix departures for the first month of 2024.

First, a few housekeeping notes as to how Netflix removals work before we dive in. Due to licensing agreements, shows and movies added to Netflix aren’t added forever. Instead, they’re essentially rented for a fixed period. All the shows below have their current window on Netflix ending and will likely be bound for a rival streaming service.

We list titles slightly differently from other outlets, with our listings being the actual day of removal. If you want to watch any titles scheduled to expire on January 1st, for example, you’ll need to watch by the end of December 31st.

Filmmaker Mari Selvaraj, who is known for directing Dhanush in ‘Karnan’, is set to release his Tamil Ott series titled ‘Sos – Straight Outta Sunnambu Kaalvai’. The story revolves around the struggles of two generations of HipHop dance groups to build a dance studio in Sunnambu Kaalvai.

Mari Selvaraj serves as a showrunner on the show which has been written and directed by Suriya Raj.

Talking about the show, Mari Selvaraj said in a statement: “Exploring the most favourite genre of dance combined with heart wrenching drama, Sos unravels an extraordinary narrative. With hip-hop taking the centre stage in the hearts of youth, this show promises a dance revolution and the journey of passion, resilience, and self-discovery. I am thrilled to bring this unique inspiring tale to viewers”.

Dv Cine Creations’ D Venkatesh will be releasing the film in the Telugu states and is confident that it would bring good box office collections. The film, to be directed by debutant Nanjil, will feature Andrea in the role of a wildlife photographer. The project has been in the pipeline for a long time and is finally getting made. At the launch, Andrea said it's been worth the wait. Talking about the project, Nanjil told Times of India that the film won’t feature songs. “Kaa is a crime thriller that stresses on the fact that life, irrespective of whose it is, is important. Andrea plays a wildlife photographer, someone who is quite wild and very hippy. She was my first and final option to play the lead because her face and attitude matched the character’s — she is friendly but has this ‘don’t mess with me’ attitude. She didn’t have to do any homework; I’d asked her to only attain a trimmed physique.” “It was composer Amrish’s idea to have no songs. After he heard the narration, he told me that the script is so packed that it has no scope for song insertion. He told me in a serious tone to not include any songs even if he himself insisted at a later stage. Wherever required, there will be Bgm, and the rest of the film will ride heavily on sound effects.
