Netflix has landed the rights to a True Detective reunion show after a major bidding war. The series reunites True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto and Matthew McConaughey, who memorably played Rustin Spencer "Rust" Cohle in True Detective season 1.
After a bidding war between Netflix, Prime Video, and Apple, The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Netflix is the winner. The untitled series from Skydance Sports is still in development, and the deals for McConaughey and Yellowstone star Cole Hauser are reportedly being finalized.

In a competitive situation, Netflix has landed an untitled drama project starring and executive produced by Matthew McConaughey and Cole Hauser that comes from True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto and Skydance Sports, now part of Paramount, Deadline has confirmed.
Details are sketchy but the project is believed to be set in the world of football and it originated as a show about two brothers, played by McConaughey and Hauser, I hear.
The two actors have been friends for two decades (they starred together in the 1993 Dazed and Confused), and have been kicking around the idea over that time.
This marks the latest collaboration between McConaughey and Pizzolatto. The Oscar winner starred opposite Woody Harrelson in the first season of True Detective on HBO. McConaughey and Pizzolatto re-teamed for the straight-to-series FX drama Redeemer, which ultimately didn’t move forward, and recently reunited for a...

Netflix has won out in a bidding war for a new series starring Matthew McConaughey and Cole Hauser that hails from creator Nic Pizzolatto.
Variety has confirmed that the project is currently in development at Netflix, though final deals for the two leads are still being ironed out. Plot details are scarce, aside from the fact that McConaughey and Hauser would play brothers. Skydance Sports will produce.
Netflix declined to comment.
The series marks another reunion for McConaughey and Pizzolatto, following their highly successful collaboration on the first season of “True Detective” at HBO. The pair were also meant to re-team on the FX project “Redeemer,” though that series ultimately did not move forward. Most recently, it was reported that McConaughey would star in a movie based on Mickey Spillane’s and Max Allan Collins’ “Mike Hammer” books with a script by Pizzolatto.

Josh Holloway is a familiar face in prestige television, thanks to his breakout role as Sawyer in Lost and his more recent, rugged turn in Yellowstone. Holloway's portrayal of layered, tough characters has made him a go-to actor for menacing charm and complex resilience on screen. Now, that blend will bring Holloway to the big screen in a whole new genre.
According to a report by Deadline, Josh Holloway is set to star as John Matherson in the forthcoming movie adaptation of William R. Forstchen's novel, One Second After, with production slated to begin filming in Bulgaria next month. First published in 2009, One Second After was ranked the No. 11 fiction bestseller on The New York Times list in May of that year.
Forstchen's One Second After follows John, a widowed history professor and former Army colonel, amid a catastrophic electromagnetic pulse (Emp) that obliterates all modern electronics, bringing society to a standstill.

One of Taylor Sheridan's most successful drama series has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity on the VOD charts, ahead of a new season set to drop later this year. Sheridan has carved out a niche as one of the most creative storytellers on the small screen, with many of his shows making up a strong portion of Paramount+'s catalog.
With successful shows like Yellowstone, 1923, Tulsa King, and Mayor of Kingstown, Sheridan has become one of the leading names in streaming. Another hugely successful Sheridan vehicle, Landman, is enjoying a fresh spike in popularity, ahead of the season 2 premiere on November 16, 2025.
Per FlixPatrol, Landman is currently at #5 on the Amazon Top 10 chart on August 20, with three million minutes viewed. The show currently sits above A Place to Call Home, 90 Day: Hunt for Love, Hurricane Katrina: Race Against Time, A Sorority Mom's Guide To Rush!, and Jersey Shore: Family Vacation.

According to Kendall Baker of Yahoo Sports, a new MLB deal could be on the way soon, but with some surprising moving parts.

Following the success of 2 on 2 hits with Barbarian and Weapons, Zach Cregger is now working on his upcoming Resident Evil reboot. And turns out, the director recently clarified via THR, about how he only wants to direct movies he has written himself. For him, writing is a very personal part of filmmaking.
That’s an original screenplay, by the way. It’s a weird story. I wrote it, and I love the story. It has nothing to do with any of the other ‘Resident Evil’ movies. If I do my job, it will feel fresh and edgy and weird. I have ‘Resident Evil’, and then I have a sci-fi movie right after that’s original… Then I have another one that I’m working on that feels like ‘Nightcrawler’.
But all of those are original. My agents don’t even send me scripts, because I’m not going to direct other scripts.

Paramount+’s hit series, Yellowstone, charts the fate of the Dutton dynasty as it explores intergenerational conflict and shifting alliances. Kevin Costner’s John Dutton is the patriarch whose kingdom is threatened and also guarded by his own family, outsiders, and even the ranch hands. So, what is the answer to the question of who is the most loyal to John Dutton? It is Rip Wheeler.
It’s a world where betrayal is common, and every action and word acts as a test of trust. It’s important for John Dutton to know who will stand beside him in times of peril. This decides between the preservation of his legacy and the beginning of his ruin. The motivations behind loyalty can be debt, love, ambition, and even fear.
It is this complexity that makes Yellowstone the hit it is. Someone like Beth Dutton or Rip Wheeler will do anything for the senior Dutton,...

It took Harrison Ford a long time to embrace the small screen after he broke through with the "Star Wars" franchise in 1977. Once he'd established himself by playing Han Solo, the star spent decades working exclusively in movies (though he did show up for a brief cameo in the 1990s series "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles"). But in recent years, Ford has cast aside his apparent aversion to TV with starring roles in several shows.
His delightful portrayal of Dr. Paul Rhodes in Apple TV+'s "Shrinking" has allowed him to show off his underrated comedic chops and surprise his co-star, Jason Segel in the process. The same year he was cast in "Shrinking," Ford was also confirmed to star in the "Yellowstone" spin-off "1923" alongside his former "The Mosquito Coast" co-star Helen Mirren. The Paramount+ series saw Ford play Jacob Dutton, forebear of Kevin Costner's John Dutton from its parent show.

Do you ever watch something, and you see that one actor and think, “Damn, I love them?”
And it’s not even someone you think about regularly or are cognizant of at any other time, but whenever you see their name or they appear on the screen, there’s this spark of recognition, delight, and excitement.
That’s Piper Perabo. She’s a Renaissance woman — one of those actors who elevates whatever she’s in with a quiet but commanding presence that creeps up on you — as slowly as the realization that she’s sometimes the reason you keep watching at all.

Today, Taylor Sheridan oversees a vast and constantly expanding empire of TV shows. Ever since his super-popular neo-Western saga "Yellowstone" took off and became a hit for Paramount, the company has tapped Sheridan to repeat the achievement with multiple other series. Nowadays, Sheridan has so many ongoing TV shows it's truly a mystery how the creator has time to tend to them all.
Though the success of "Yellowstone" is unlikely to be matched, every Sheridan series since then has done well in its own right, from the multiple "Yellowstone" spin-offs to the most recent example, the Billy Bob Thornton starring "Landman." The writer's multiple small screen triumphs also come in the wake of him penning some of the best movies of the 2010s, most notably "Sicario," which remains one of Denis Villeneuve's best directorial efforts to this day.
