While in the United States Army in the 1980's, Don had an opportunity to meet then President Ronald Reagan two different times, at two different locations, in one day. At the second chance meeting later in the day, the President remembered the first meeting saying with a laugh, "Haven't we met earlier?" Don said he has never forgotten how cordial and friendly the President was, taking time to speak with each person, especially those in uniform.
