Alan Maxson received the "Independent Community Arts Award" in October 2016 from The Long Beach Acting & Film Association. Alan Maxson won "Best Actor" for his role as Cookie in Christmas with Cookie during the Off The Rails Podcast Boobah Awards of 2017.

In Bloodsucka Jones vs. The Creeping Death, Alan plays 3 different roles including Cheedo (Bloodsucka Jones personal body guard wearing cardboard armor), a zombie (who seems to always be looking up) and finally you see archive footage of Cookie from Christmas with Cookie on a TV while the main characters are channel surfing.

In 2018 the Cricket Magazine article, "The Man in the Monster Suit" by Shelley Walden, was featured in a Winsight 5th grade English exams program for Educational Testing Services on ETS.org. The article was accompanied by a picture of Alan in a monster suit.

In AMC Visionaries: Eli Roth's History of Horror, one of the producers altered a news paper article in an episode (Slashers Part 2) to say it was written by Alan Matson. This was a nod to Alan without using his real name.

Patina (written & directed by Alan Maxson) won the "Viewer's Choice" award at the A Slice of Fright Film Festival in 2019. The event took place at The State Theatre in downtown Bay City, Michigan.

Maxson was awarded the 2023 Zed Fest Film Festival Independent Filmmaker Spirit Award. Award Description: "For determination, perseverance and innovation in independent Filmmaking Zed Fest Film Festival acknowledges and Congratulates the undersigned recipient.".

Maxson became a member of the Television Academy in 2024.

Maxson became a member of the Motion Picture Editors Guild (IATSE Local 700) in 2012.
