- In 2003, during a historical ceremony at New York City's City Hall, Mayor Michael Bloomberg presented Kevin with an award for his literary contribution in the critically acclaimed book "Souls of My Brothers: Black Men Break Their Silence, Tell Their Truths and Heal Our Spirits." Kevin's co-authors in the book included San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, Jr., Busta Rhymes, Actors Mel Jackson and Obba Babatunde, Authors Smokey Fontaine, Terrance Dean and Heru Ptah, Congressman Gregory Meeks, fashion designers Michael Stoney and Shaka King, Music executive Antonio "L.A." Reid, chef Lyndsey Williams, award winning medical practitioner Dr. Sampson Davis, athletes Keenan McCardell and NBA veteran Jim Jackson.
- In 1989 Kevin played a part in American history when the Love Line TV Commercial began airing the premiere night of the Arcenio Hall Show. He entered the entertainment business by way of music, and after a brief time performing on stages he partnered with business associates to form a management and production company (D-Squared Productions) and successfully booked his clients, Jazz & Dee, for the commercial.
