Producer Laurie David is vehemently denying a Star magazine report of an Al Gore affair with her that ruined his marriage. Al and Tipper Gore announced earlier this month they were separating after 40 years of wedlock. Star magazine claims an affair between Al Gore and Laurie David caused the split.

In the new issue of Star magazine, which hits stands on Wednesday, the tabloid claims producer Laurie David is the other woman behind Al and Tipper Gore’s separation.

“Star has learned that Al has been having an affair with Laurie, who divorced Seinfeld creator and Curb Your Enthusiasm star Larry David in 2007 amidst reports she was cheating with the caretaker of their Martha’s Vineyard summer home,” a statement on StarMagazine.com says.

“Al and Laurie went from friends to lovers,” an insider allegedly told Star.

One week after Al and Tipper announced their split, friends of the family have revealed that their daughter Karenna Gore-Schiff, 36 and her husband Andrew “Drew” Schiff, 44, have split up.

The couple has been separated for several months and is currently attending marriage counseling, a friend told People magazine.

Kalee Kreider, a spokeswoman for former vice president Al Gore, said: “Neither the Gores nor the Schiffs plan to comment.” But the two friends who spoke to the magazine said they wanted to be upfront about the state of the Schiffs’ marriage to head off any rumor-mongering. The couple live in New York City and have three children, Wyatt, 10, Anna, 8 and Oscar, 3. Drew Schiff works for a biotech investment company and Karenna has been focusing on being a mom while working on a documentary about inspirational women in history.

Like parents, like daughter, we guess. Former vice-president Al Gore and wife Tipper Gore declared last week they are seperating after 40 years of marriage. Now daughter Kerenna Gore has also come out to confirm she has split from husband Drew Schiff.

According to People.com, 36-year-old Gore and 44-year-old Schiff “have been seperated for a couple of months and in marriage counseling.” The sources quoted spoke anonymously to the tabloid because they were not authorized by the couple to disclose information. Reps for the Gore family have said they will not be commenting any further on the story.

The couple lives in New York City and have three children together, 10-year-old Wyatt, 8-year-old Anna and 3-year-old Oscar.
