It’s not exactly the rap battle anyone ever likely envisioned, but May 22 will see Sean “Diddy” Combs and Kid Cudi going head-to-head as the Happy Gilmore 2 star gives testimony in the Bad Boy Records founder’s sex-trafficking trial.
Kid Cudi (a.k.a. Scott Mescudi) will take the stand in Judge Arun Subramanian’s lower Manhattan courtroom on Thursday, prosecutors confirmed today.
Starting off Wednesday’s hearing before the jury was in the room by informing the judge and defense team that the “Man on the Moon” rap star would not be testifying today, the feds unveiled at the end of the day, after the jurors had exited, that Kid Cudi would now be in the witness box on Thursday. Kid Cudi has shared an evocative new single, “Neverland.” It marks the musician’s first new music of 2025 and comes ahead of the premiere of his short film, Neverland, directed by Ti West and produced by Monkeypaw Productions, at the Tribeca Film Festival in June.
The pensive song builds to a rousing chorus as Kid Cudi reflects, “This universe has common ground/ Just takes a while to come around/ When I’m feeling up and I’m feeling down/ Reminds me that I’m still alive.”

The Tribeca Film Fest 2025, presented by Okx, announced its short film lineup today, which includes narrative, animation, documentary shorts as well as music videos. Among them is the world premiere of Kid Cudi’s “Neverland,“ featuring an impressive cast & crew.
The eleven-minute horror-centric music video follows “a 200 year old vampire takes his newly initiated love on her first feed.”
“Neverland” stars performer Kid Cudi (Scott Mescudi), Kiernan Shipka, Brittany Snow (X), Haley Joel Osment, Cary Elwes (Saw), and Brandon Scott (Descendent). That’s one hell of a lineup and marks the on-screen reunion between Mescudi and Snow, his X co-star.
The X connections don’t stop there, either; “Neverland” is helmed by director Ti West, who co-wrote the script for the music video with Mescudi. As if the horror pedigree isn’t already impressive enough, the music video was produced by Monkeypaw Productions, with Jordan Peele serving as executive producer.

Even as crews continued to retrieve bodies from the Potomac River following a midair collision Wednesday night between a commercial jet and a U.S. Army helicopter over Washington, D.C., President Donald Trump sought to lay the blame for the tragedy on workplace diversity initiatives. His now-familiar refrain against diversity, equity, and inclusion policies — convenient for packaging racist, sexist, homophobic, and transphobic rhetoric into easily digested soundbites — had no evident connection to the accident, which officials have just begun to investigate. But that didn’t stop Trump from signing a...

Through the lens of Baltimore’s youngest mayor, Brandon Scott, filmmaker Gabriel Francis Paz Goodenough invites us into the turbulent world of the city in The Body Politic. This documentary develops not merely as a political narrative but also as a reflection on the complexities of leadership in a city grappling with the shadows of violence and institutional neglect.
The story of Scott’s rise to power is replete with echoes of despair, the screams of a community yearning for change, and the ever-present threat of crime that hangs big over Charm City.
As Scott navigates the dangerous seas of governance, we must confront existential concerns about the nature of authority and the human condition. Is it enough to aspire to be the change we want to see? Is that aspiration merely a glimmer of hope in an otherwise bleak landscape?
The film captures Scott’s sincerity while also exposing...

Max has opted not to proceed with a second season of drama The Girls On The Bus. The decision comes two weeks after the Season 1 finale of the series, starring and produced by Melissa Benoist, was released.
“While Max will not be moving forward with a second season of The Girls on the Bus, we are grateful to have partnered with immensely talented Amy Chozick, Julie Plec, Rina Mimoun, as well as the teams at Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television,” the streamer said in a statement. “We are so proud of this powerful story of found family and the celebration of journalism, in all its forms. We thank them and our unrivaled cast for all their incredible work and collaboration.”
The cancellation news is not entirely surprising. The adaptation of Chozick’s best-selling book Chasing Hillary had a relatively quiet run and didn’t break into Nielsen’s Top...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Girls on the Bus Season 1, Episode 8, “Life is a Highway.”] The Girls on the Bus has tackled a number of topical subjects over its run so far on Max, but none more frustrating than journalist Sadie’s (Melissa Benoist) quest to secure abortion pills in the episode, “Life is a Highway.” After discovering she’d become pregnant after a spontaneous hook-up with an on-again-off-again fling, Malcolm, a.k.a. Loafers (Brandon Scott), Sadie’s clock for an abortion began ticking as she opted to go with pills. The trouble with that? She is constantly traveling through different states where laws differ. Due to this metaphorical roadblock, Sadie was forced to cross state lines with the help of conservative reporter Kimberlyn (Christina Elmore) as she went to pick up the mailed pills in a P.O. Box. The only problem? She didn’t make it to the post office in time,...

The collapse of the Francis Scott Key bridge in Baltimore triggered a very early wake-up call for reporters and producers working in Maryland newsrooms early Tuesday morning.
The incident, caused by a cargo ship that accidentally crashed into one of the bridge’s support beams, happened around 1:30 a.m. local time, when many newsrooms were operating with few workers who were able to cover the massive story.
International news organizations were among some of the first to cover the incident, with Reuters, the Associated Press and BBC News pushing out news bulletins that offered few details in the hour immediately following the collapse.

Inspired by, but definitely not closely adapted from, Amy Chozick’s 2018 book Chasing Hillary, The Girls on the Bus may be on Max, but it’s a throwback to a certain type of broad, big-hearted, semi-topical dramedy that TV fans used to associate with The WB.
As a female-forward workplace buddy comedy with soapy undertones, The Girls on the Bus (Chozick and The Vampire Diaries mastermind Julie Plec are credited as creators) is quite good — the casting is strong, the character dynamics appealing. As a show about journalism, The Girls on the Bus is decent — smart about a lot of things, dumb about others, but not disproportionately. As a political thriller, The Girls on the Bus is mostly a crock.
