"Outside the Wire: The Forgotten Children of Afghanistan" filmmakers Anthony Hornus and Gregg B. McNeill traveled with U.S. troops so deep into the Hindu Kush mountains of northeast Afghanistan that the people had only seen Americans a couple of times in their lives.

While filming and taking still images for "Outside the Wire: The Forgotten Children of Afghanistan" in Korengal Valley in Kunar Province, cameraman Keith Lepor was hit in the chest by a 7.62 sniper round. Lepor's steel-plated vest stopped the bullet and two U.S. Marines pulled him out of "the kill zone" to safety.
