- Wrote a draft of Die Fliege (1986) when Mel Brooks agreed to produce the project, booting original writer Charles Edward Pogue. However, it was decided that Green's draft was even less satisfactory than Pogue's, and Pogue was re-hired, only to be booted off again when David Cronenberg joined the project and decided to re-write the script himself.
- Wrote the 1st Red Dragon script. It was to have David Lynch helm it. David Lynch was busy prepping Dune, so the project was scrapped. Later on, the script was shown to Michael Mann who made Manhunter, which was based on the book "Red Dragon".

- Let Mel Stuart release a millipede onto his face for the "crazy boat ride" sequence in Charlie und die Schokoladenfabrik (1971). The scene remains intact today.
- Father of Darwin Green.
- [on Sam Peckinpah] I heard all these stories about him, but, frankly, I never saw him behave badly. It's such a wussy thing to say, but, the times when I was involved with him, he was totally professional and really excited about the film.
- [on Martin Brest's dismissal from the direction of "WarGames"]: He really had the rug pulled out from under him. There was no professional reason in the world to fire that guy. He was a good and adept and really talented film-maker. But there was an animosity toward him. Marty is a guy who is not good at meetings. He's not a great bullshit artist.
