He was born in Terceira, Açores Islands (off the coast of Portugal), but was raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

He was considered as Johnny Depp's replacement in 21 Jump Street: Tatort Klassenzimmer (1987) until producers decided he was too young for the part.

Went by the stage name Justin Louis, sometimes spelled Justin Lewis, for the first 25 years of his career. After his Portuguese born mother passed away, he decided to use Louis Ferreira in honor of his family name Ferreira.

Has starred in 12 different television series to date.
