Producer and director who began his career in advertising and directed radio programming for a time. He formed his own production company in the 1950s and later became a partner in Glenda Jackson's production company, Bowden Productions. Also a professor at both UCLA and USC, where he taught screenwriting.

There's room in a bookstore for Harold Robbins, Sidnet Sheldon, and Irving Wallace, these big-selling authors; yet there's also room for Camus. It's a shame it isn't the same in motion pictures where the small films can also run.
