- Anton Edthofer wurde am 18 September 1883 in Vienna, Austria-Hungary [ora Austria] geboren. Er war Schauspieler, bekannt für Gespenster (1918), Nora (1923) und Die Pompadour (1935). Er war mit Helene Thimig verheiratet. Er starb am 25 Februar 1971 in Österreich.

- Leading actor of the Viennese stage (from 1904), in films from 1912. From 1929, ensemble member of the Theater in der Josefstadt. Noted for roles in classic plays by Shakespeare, Shaw, Gorky, Hauptmann and Schiller. Played key roles on screen, especially during the 1920's under the direction of Murnau, Lang or Wiene. In sound films, acclaimed as Colonel Pickering in Pygmalion (1935), opposite Jenny Jugo and Gustaf Gründgens.
